I am the lamest Dragon Age player ever . . .

Video Games

I decided to get the most from the "core" game as I could and play all of the DLC before I got the expansion. I made it through Leliana's Song just fine, but I it took the Darkspawn Chronicles to figure out how lame I really am.

I cannot beat Alastair during the fight with the Archdaemon no matter what I do. And I keep getting worse the more times I try. I'm seriously frustrated, because the site that I looked up for advice pretty much said, "its not that hard of a fight."

I must have completely lost my ability to play this game if this is a easy as the website was indicating.

Argh!

That DLC is broken i think. I had incredibly hard times in beating Alistair. To think that in the core game he is maybe the weakest of your companions, and in the DLC he can annihilate the archdemon fighting with one hand tied behind is back and blind folded.

I know, not to mention, I kept thinking, "I though only a Grey Warden can kill the Archdaemon," and yet, even when I was busy tying up Alastair, the other companions, even Barkspawn, could still kill him.

I finally beat the DLC last night through sheer pig headedness. I managed to keep my Emissary off to the side of the fight and heal the Archdaemon every time I got the chance.

I beat that fight going all around with the emissary and blasting fireballs all over, to keep enemy always on the floor. What the hell, even Kaxgang in the core game is easier :(

Play as the Emissary to heal your party members.Take out Morrigan first as she is the healer. The other key component is make your sure your entire "party" takes out Alastir's group one at time with 4 to 1 odds they go down pretty quick.

Don't worry about the werewolves, if they tag you then just keep moving, with you constant reinforcements they will eventually forget about you.

Liberty's Edge

It's all in that emissary and morale. Get whomever you want, but make sure you have the emissary, change his tactics to healing, healing, and more healing. And if you get all their morale maxed they're just that much stronger. If those two things are done you shouldn't have too much of a problem.

Generally I went with emissary, ogre, and a whatever I had on hand. The ogre grappling someone with you around is pretty much one enemy down.

Thankfully I finally killed the sucker last night, and then as an ironic twist, finally finished the romance with him with my main character and got my hopelessly romantic achievement. I guess you never really know someone until you've spilled their entrails . . .
