Zelda in Pathfinder and other various inspirations

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Just like it says on the box. I've found the Legend of Zelda series to be the best source of inspiration for my dungeons. It's not a perfect transition- for example, in Zelda, as soon as you open a door, you must enter the room- this is not the case in pathfinder, and if it was, my players would revolt. But there is a lot to learn from dungeon design from those games.

Has anyone else used The legend of Zelda in their games? Does anyone have any other preferred sources of inspiration?

Other than a few dropped references here and there, not much Zelda in my games. My players do tend to mime holding up an item and singing the item song when they find an Obvious Plot Item. Likewise when someone finds a secret door.

Liberty's Edge

I use some of the puzzles.

Though my gamming groups tend to be more Final Fantasy than Zelda Players.

I did run the LoZ D20 game once, before Nintendo made the project cease.

Though, I also find Castlevania is a huge inspiration for my roleplaying the last couple years.

I have "Iron" Boots as an artifact. Clearly an inspiration from Zelda games. They weigh the same as normal boots until they're worn in which case they weigh 50 lbs each. It restricts movement to 5ft per round but it adds a +20 against being bull rushed, overrun, or tripped. It's also useful for keeping criminals from escaping (as long as their hands are already bound).
