...as would one that would allow you to purchase and download PDFs to your phone.
You can already do that with the stock Droid phone (purchase through the browser just like you do from a regular computer, download to the phone and view with the PDF viewer).
Also, one that makes girls like me.
There's no app to help with that. ;)

*checks Droid* The main store page is a bit cluttered on the small screen, but the inside store pages are all functional and well-done. The PFSRD is very plain-vanilla HTML, so after a variable-length chunk for the sidebar, it all flows very nicely.
About the only thing that might be annoying in a game-time situation was that the PFSRD search bar brings you tabbed results from all the site sections - but I'm guessing that's by design.
So maybe a mobile version of the PFSRD might swap the sidebar for a collapsible index, and keep the search bar restricted to PFSRD-results-only. I don't think it needs a whole app...
The game on the other hand could use some handy DM tools, I think. There are a lot of dice rollers & PDF viewers but not much else. *sadness*

Any chance someone has the .APK for that Pathfinder Spell Compendium? I'd love to try it out on my Adam, but the device doesn't have access to Android Market as yet. I'm talking about the free app here, by the way, not the for-pay app. What I'd really love is if the developer could keep a link to the .APK on a web site...

Given that most Android devices have at best a 3x4 inch screen size, and that the 7 inch Android tablets don't have the hardware resources or processing power of iPads, you have to ask yourself what do you expect to be able to do with them?
The Ipad is at least at a size level where viewing a full page at a time is at least workable with normal vision. Anything smaller would require rather tedius zooming back and forth.

![]() |

That would be old Android devices. My Adam has a 10.1" screen and can browse through the 578 page core book PDF no problem. Viewsonic and Samsung have their devices out now, and the Motorola Xoom is supposed to be here in the next two months or so.
The Xoom comes out this month, unfortunately it's ungodly overpriced with the current shown price at Best Buy of $1200. I believe Samsung is announcing more stuff tomorrow at MWC including a 10.1" tablet and the Galaxy 2 line of phones.

erian_7 |

Heh, yes I saw that. Best But pulled that quickly when they started getting hammered, but I'm still seeing that the Xoom will be in the $800 range. Of course, I think that's for the highest version and I'm sure there will be a price break for folks that want to sign up for a 2-year service contract.
Of course, these are some of the primary things that drove me toward the Adam versus other Android tablets--I don't want a data plan, and I'm not paying some premium for the manufacturer/service provider back-door agreements.

Those prices put them right in the neighborhood of the Ipad/Ipad2.
One thing to keep in mind is that Paizo isn't in the coding buisness. There isn't anything that's stopping you folks out there from coming up with something outstanding and work forging the kind of agreement that Lone Wolf did with HeroLab.

Current roleplaying apps ive got on my Droid:
d20 Ability Calculator: you can program it for the number of points in your point buy game, and how much each score costs above/below 10. For Pathfinder rules w a 20pt stat buy, set the app to a 44pt stat buy, with 7 being the lowest at 0 points, and 18 being the highest at...whatever an 18 costs for PF, lol. When you move the stats to 10 each, itll leave you with your 20 pts.
Dice Bag: You can create custom dice, set specific dice for specific things (attack roll, attack roll + rage, attack roll + rage and charge, etc). Pretty nice, actually.
Pathfinder spell list: as mentioned earlier. Its got all stuff from Core + APG, I think done by the pfsrd guys.
3.5 spell list: Got every spell ive ever seen. Runs faster than the PF one, and you can create your own personal spell list, which is awesome.

Having picked up a Nookcolor tablet running Android 2.3, I began exploring the app market for current Pathfinder apps.
I found the following 3:
Spellbook by Shaking Earth: All the spells from the core rule book for all the classes in that book. Nicely done. Inexpensive. Claims that he will be adding APG spells this coming month (April).
Pathfinder Compendium 2.2 by Sven Erik Jonsson. Full implementation of the d20pfsrd.com database on a nice android app interface. Free
Spells by Scot Seligman. Another inexpensive package: included feats, magic items, spells, weapons, monsters, and rules. Very impressive.
So from first view, all 3 apps are very nice. Since I've just downloaded them, I will be trying them out over the next week or so.
I had downloaded the pdf of the d20pfsrd database and have been enjoying that on ezpdf reader. But these apps are definately faster (even if they aren't as robust as the entire pdf database.
So there you go, for all you android users out there.
<btw it is REALLY nice to look at these apps on a 7" tablet rather than my 4" phone>
<grin>

Ok, I went ahead and got the Nook Color, and so far it is good. Nice internet capabilitiesm compaired to my decent android phone, and very similar, but improved interface.
I am not able to download PDFs directly from the Paizo site, or rather can't open them, but will try to transfer from laptop soon. Will also be taking a look at android market as well, just like my phone.

Did you every find this .apk? I'm my ROMed g-tab has Android Market but even after applying the market fix I can't find this app to install it.

I
I rooted my NookColor to Ginderbread Os (cynomod 7) to make it a full android tablet. This provides me with full android market access.
I also use ezpdf reader as my app of choice for reading pdfs. I can directly download my pets from Paizo and from rpgnow with the builtin browser on my rooted nook (but have verified downloads with the Dolphin browser and the Opera browser) All of them have been supported.
I did download the pfd20srd pdf and since it is smaller than the stock PDFs it loads and searches much faster.
But I have noticed that the spell app that I purchased from the android market is much faster during game play, since it is a fully indexed database of the feats/spells/monsters/basic rules/magic items.
So would I recommend the Nook - heck yeah!
Btw, this message was written on my Nook, using a bluetooth wireless keyboard using the stock C7 browser.

I should mention that to get the full advantage of the nookcolor, you will have to 'root' it to get beyond the stock OS
Check out the xda developer forum (do a google search to find them if you don't already know how to) They have some great guides on how to upgrade/root your nook.
Once rooted you will game those abilities that are missing from your stock device. The cynomod 7 group just released a stable version of their 2.3 implementation on Thursday. So you can feel pretty confident on it.
I have tried out about 4 differing versions of the Android OS on my NookColor since I got it in December
Have fun.

Very cool, as I was just about to ask about that. Will do. Also in another thread simeone pointed me to a text only PF core rules. Ill see if I can find it. Have you had any luck finding a pdf to epub converter. I have noticed that so far Paizo books take a very long time to load a page and do not seem to cache, so each page loads again if you go back to it?

Could I get a little help? I'm on those sites but I am not really that clear on what I'm looking for or understanding really what everything means.
I'm using Win Vista, but only can find options for Win 7 and XP so far. Does that matter?
Your OS doesn't matter.
Click the "Get Cynogen" button
Choose the Nookcolor it will take you to:
it will take you to:
http://http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=encore
Choose Mar 30th build for the most recent stable, (though I use the most current nightly myself)
download this to your machine
Instructions on how to install to your sd card
Install c7 to your nook
You will need to install win32diskimager
download here
To get help from others goto here:
Realize I am a gamer first, who just loves her nook, so I am not the ultimate source to get help from. That is why I've given you all the links, pointing you to those that know.
Basic gist:
download the diskimage program for your windows machine (I have used it both on my windows 7 and my windows vista machine - it works for both).
Install the program.
Make sure you own a sd card reader (you cannot image to the card slot on the nook itself - Im not sure why, but it just fraggs up if you do)
Insert your sd card into the reader,
running diskimage program write the ROM installer image to the disk. (This makes your sd card bootable.
copy the ROM image you want to install onto the sd card disk.
Place the new booting install sd disk into your Nook
Boot
install the ROM image onto the internal memory of your nook.
remove SD card
place a blank sd card in your nook (you can reuse your sd card that you used to install with, but your need to reformat it first)
Boot to your new OS on your Nook.
These steps I have outlined are generalizations, so you should consult the link to the documents I outlined above for better and more details.

I have found NO pdf convertors that I would ever consider using. PDFs have too many graphics and internal links to pleasantly use or view when they have been attempted to convert.
That is why I mentioned in the previous thread that pdd20srd site has a great file that they have taken their site and placed it into a single PDF. It has stripped all the graphics, minimized the file size and makes searching much faster than the original documents. They have two documents: one rulebook and one monsters.
But as I said the $2.99 'Spell' App I bought and downloaded from the app store puts the PRD PDFs to shame for ease of use and searching during games.

I just got a Nook Color that I rooted to CM7 myself and am also on the lookout for any good apps. I'll definitely be checking out a few of the ones mentioned here. I think the main things I'd like to see in an app are:
#1: A fully functional character sheet
I haven't really found anything like this yet. The only character sheet app I've really even seen isn't free and looks somewhat mediocre.
#2: A good DM tool for tracking initiative and hit points and the like.
The best I've found for this so far is an app called DM Assist, but it shows up at a weird non-full screen resolution on my Nook...

smashthedean |

I was mostly hoping for something I could edit on the Nook so I could make updates mid-game and track HP and loot and stuff. I haven't had a ton of time to look into it, but I tried downloading a fillable character sheet on my Nook this morning and the Adobe Reader app couldn't fill anything in. Do you know does the ezpdf Reader allow fillable pdfs to work?

![]() |

I don't believe so, but there was a generic one i had on my phone. I can't find it on the book android market but i had it on my phone a few months ago that was a dice roller and could track HP, buff rounds, and temp things like that. I just found it easier to have a character sheet. Something else you could do is make a character on paizo (alternate screen name), and use that. Ill post as that in a second and you can click the name to see what it does.

See I'm having problems with this. The download starts, but never actually downloads anything. Progress bar never transitions from the waiting animation to filling.
