So I just noticed something. If you take Adaptation from the APG to replace Favored Terrain as a Ranger, you end up breaking Camouflage and Hide in Plain Sight which lets you make a Stealth checks in your favored terrain.

If you take Adaptation.. you have no favored terrain. So umm yeah.. is there eratta for this?

Maybe It is the intent (to replace FT, Camouflage and HiPS), Adaptation isn't as circumstancial as the abilities related to FT, but I don't know.

IMO It should be errated or clarified, I'll click the FAQ button.

I have no problem with it replacing the 2 abilities, but for that we need to increment Adaptation at the Camo and Hide levels, not JUST the old Favored Terrain levels.

I do have a problem with it killing 2 abilities and not giving us anything for them. :)

Nothing prevent you to take additionnal archetype with Infiltrator.
Like Infiltrator/Horse Lord or Infiltrator/Beast Master.

Sure there is, I don't want Horse Lord or Beast Master.

Taking another alternative class feature to make up for the fact that one breaks the class isn't a solution.

I'd rule that you still pick a favored terrain but get no bonus from it. That way when Camouflage and Hide in Plain Sight come up the work in those terrains you picked but get no bonus in. That would work in the mean time till some Developer provides an official answer.

I'd appreciate it if this was answered as well. It seems that the Shapeshifter archetype suffers from this problem too since it replaces Favored Terrain and Camouflage, but not Hide in Plain Sight.

I don't know if this was answered in an errata somewhere or anything like that, but I just started playing an Infiltrator and noticed this as well, so I figured I would come see if there was an errata on this or some sort of suggestion for it. Kind of sucks if we gain a power that replaces one of our level powers, but we basically don't get anything at the other ones that have become unusable now.

Well, you can still get favored terrains from the Horizon Walker prestige class. Maybe it was for that interaction?
