Touching for magus

Round 1: Magus

The magus has the "advantage" to use his touch spells through his weapon. But by using the weapon he cannot target touch ac, which is expecially at higher levels a lot lower.

Is there any reason not to change his ability so, that when using weapon to deliver touch spells, that he delivers spell if his attacks meet touch ac and delivers weapon damage when he beats full ac?

After all, if you hit touch ac but fail to hit full ac, you fail to penetrate armor, but your weapon is connected to his body or aura or whatever spells actually target.

+5 Keen Flaming Frost Shock Corrosive Rapier, is one reason.

But seriously, it is a boon on top of your weapon enhancements, should you hit.

It's not as much of a boon as it sounds. You trade the easy hit for a higher threat range and maybe a higher reach, but that's it. Since you don't get a free attack if you choose the weapon, it's not likely to be used without spell combat, in which case you can do the free touch anyway, guaranteeing the free hit.

Actually, you could still make the free touch attack the round you cast the spell and then channel it through your weapon with spell strike the next round if you miss the touch attack (bad rolls do happen on occasion) to get your weapon damage in addition to the spell damage. So in addition to the benefits you listed, you can also add the highly situational benefit of getting weapon damage in addition to the spell if you miss the initial free touch attack. We shouldn't forget about any of the benefits of this ability since it need every little bit it can get to be useful.
