Ranger "favored enemy" question

Rules Questions

For purposes of a favored enemy, is a kobold zombie considered:

a) Humanoid (Reptilian)

b) Undead (Zombie)

c) Both

Undead.

Grand Lodge

Undead...in most/all undead templates in the bestiary, the creature's type changes to undead when it becomes one.

Liberty's Edge

Edit

B) it is

Excerpt from the Zombie template in the Bestiary : "Type: The creature’s type changes to undead. It retains any subtype except for alignment subtypes (such as good) and subtypes that indicate kind."

Dark Archive

well it retains subtypes (reptilian) so it becomes an undead (reptilian) so favored enemy undead definitely applies, and I'd think if you had human (reptilian) it should apply, especially if its a favored enemy that doesn't get used a lot in the campaign (picking a wrong favored enemy and loosing out on a class feature sucks)

I believe this should be the correct answer. However, if you have both Favored Enemy (Humanoid: Reptilian) and Favored Enemy (Undead) they will not stack. The highest bonus would apply.

No, it isn't, because (reptilian) is a "subtype that indicates type" (humanoid, in this case).

This is in fact the correct answer. Upon reading the Zombie template section again I see that I was mistaken.

(Shadow, this isn't a jab at you. Rather, it is a strong reinforcement of you and anyone who is willing to acknowledge that they are wrong about something.)

Thanks. I try to admit when I discover I am wrong about RAW. There is already too much confusion about RAW to perpetuate it by not doing so. It's not the first time I've had to admit I was mistaken, I'm sure it won't be the last. I try to always consult the rule books before chiming in, keeps me sharp. But I failed to do that in this case...

Oh yeah, and if I were in Josie's spot, I would most certainly turn in my resignation.
