The Exchange 5/5

Just an update on a couple of October events in the Iowa City area

October 9th -- we're having a PFS bootcamp -- all about either learning about the society, a chance to ask questions, and talk with the area GMs about character ideas, concepts, etc.

October 16th -- this is our regularly scheduled game day, first slot we're running Silent Tide and Hand of the Muted God, and 2nd slot is Infernal Vault.

The Exchange 5/5

Our PFS bootcamp was a success yesterday.

We had 7 players that showed up, one of them drove over an hour because he'd heard about the system and wanted to know more about it and how to play it. He and his wife (who couldn't make it) will be showing up for our game days. There were a couple other new players and some newer regulars to our game days that showed up as well. Ended up with 2 tables for the intro mod.

Lots of promises to show up for game day next weekend. All in all a fun day was had by all.

It sounds like a very enouraging start Thea. The boot camp was a great idea. Good follow-up will keep them coming back :)

That's awesome to hear. I was thinking about trying to do something similar as we've been having a lot of new players also, and having a more dedicated time to talk to them about their questions and explain the Society itself as well as the small rules differences etc seems like a good use of time instead of trying to cram it down their throat before the game starts :)

Did you just kinda freeform it, or did you have some specific talking points on the agenda?

Doug thanks for the encouragement -- I was the flunky, however, Brian was the spearhead behind it all

Mark -- The premise of it really was to get people involved in the society, we did a slot of character creation, so that people would have the time to ask questions and figure out the generation of a character -- had one guy that couldn't make up his mind on what he wanted to play until he saw the playtest for the Magus and was hooked.

We had 3 GMs present to help answer questions and do some steering in the right character/player dynamic that we saw.

The only agenda that we had was to hopefully make sure people understood their characters before actually sitting down to play; too often I think people make a character and figure they'll learn is as they play it (I'm guilty of that myself lol)\
