So they are. I can probably work from that, for at least those four.

Hi,

Very nice sheets, indeed. I may be wrong, but the Gnome Druid 5 example you give shows a +3/+3 Attack Bonus with a Masterwork Quarterstaff. When it is used as a single weapon the AB would be indeed +3. But if it is used as a double weapon, two-weapon fighting penalties (with a light off-hand weapon) should be applied. Am I wrong?

Also, on page 4, you write that the Rogue and the Fighter do not require Class pages. Actually, the Rogue has one, only the Fighter has none.

Er... you're probably right. I was thinking I needed to rebuild that example as a higher level character - specifically one with higher wisdom to make it clearer how the bonus spells section works. The example uses a Druid to show the Wild Shape and Animal Companion sheets, but I've never actually played a Druid, so it's quite likely I've missed stuff.

I find it quite clear actually. It is just a way to represent the bonus spell table 1-3 of the core rules. Quite clever.

Another subtle calculation issue: in the core rules p 179, strength modifiers are applied to damage too. Since the little gnome druid has a -1 STR penalty, his damage with the staff should be d4-1, and with the longbow d6-1 (except if the bow is composite). I am just being anal here :) It depends if you want to include modifiers in the damage stats of course.

Unless I missed a bit, or still have my head in 3.5, that only applies to melee damage right?

In Pathfinder, the rules are different: "A Strength penalty, but not a bonus, applies on damage rolls made with a bow that is not a composite bow.". I have to say that rules on damage bonus/malus are a lot better explained on p. 179 rather than in the equipment section p. 141, as discussed in the errata thread.

Ah, right. In that case I'm glad my current cleric chose to make Int a drop stat instead of Str.

I just checked: this rule is also in the 3.5 d20 SRD.

Anyway, I don't want to sound too negative ; your sheets are very very nice :)

It's early and I can't find my glasses, but it looks like you left Perform off the skills list. Was that intentional? (Or was this already covered in the topic and I missed that, too?).

You can have any number of Perform, Craft, Knowledge and Profession skills, so that's what all the blank spaces are for. For example, any self-respecting Bard is going to have at least two or three different performances. I've filled in some of the more common Knowledge skills to start with, but there are lots more, including ones your GM made up.

I thought that might have been the case. Just wanted to make sure! The sheets are great. Thanks for all your hard work!

You may find this list of skills (and the corresponding ability ) in the bottom right corner of the sheet.

News, everyone!

One of the features lots of people have asked for is a way of getting just the pages you need for a given character. I've now created a tool to do just that. Tell it the classes you play, and a few other options, and download a personalised PDF. To host this tool I've also moved the website, so you can find it here:

It works very well!

It may still change when the final release comes out, but here's an early prototype of the Magus. As always, feedback is welcome.

Your sheets are great, Im going to start using them asap.

Just wanted to say I really love the character sheets a ton! The NPC sheet is great for fitting by stat'd non-monsters on too. I'd be lovely to see the alternate class features from the APG get on there, but I know you've already said you're not superman, but if you did, you'd be Super Awesome!

I know it would be super awesome, but it's not going to happen. Not when I'm doing them all myself.

There are more than 100 pages required for the alternate variants in the Advanced Player's Guide - that's double the current size of the PDF - and that's not including any that might be added in Ultimate Magic or Ultimate Combat. Even if each one is just a small modification to an existing sheet, that really is more than I could ever find time for - and not where my limited time is best spent when there are new classes coming out and 3rd-party classes not yet covered (I have the Priest and Artificer done, btw, and am making a start on the Shaman).

They're also not very far removed from the core classes, so it's not hard to use an existing sheet with a few bits scribbled over.

If you really want these sheets enough, why not create them yourself? It's always been an open-source project, with the Illustrator files on Google Code here. If you just need one page for yourself, you can download the Illustrator file for that class and modify the parts you need. If you're feeling really awesome, you could do a whole class's set of archetypes - about a dozen variants - and contribute that set back to the project for everyone. A problem shared... often becomes an organisational problem instead, but it's still a good thing. :)

The 3.5 version of these sheets has a bunch of pages for 3rd-party classes submitted by an awesome guy called Scorpions__, and a couple of submissions by other people. I'd love to see some community involvement on the Pathfinder sheets as well. It would make it possible to cover things like class variants, that are currently just beyond my scope.

tl;dr - Sorry, but no.

Quick poll. I currently have Concentration as a special item on quite a few class sheets. Does it instead belong in the skills list, as a special skill? It would be like Track, in that you can't put ranks in it directly but it still gets rolled like a skill.

The argument against is that it's not always the same base ability contributing to it - though how that works with multiclassing I'm not sure.

Honestly I think it works best as a special item on the sheets.

I like it the way you did, because a major difference between 3.5 and Pathfinder is the removal of Concentration as a skill. However you are right that multiclassing is an issue here. What are the rules for a Sorcerer/Wizard? Does he use INT or CHA bonus?

I have not had a great look over them because I am off to bed now. ^_^ From what I had seen so far, they are awesome. And though I will miss the fillable forms on Neceros's sheet, I may just try to add my own forms. I am a messy writer so it is nice to be able to open the pdf and type in some of the stuff before I print.

Emanonpf, if you're thinking of creating fillable versions of my sheets, then I suggest you work with the guy who's already made a start on it. You should be aware that it's an enormous job, which is why I haven't done it myself. If you're serious, we should discuss it off-board to coordinate the effort.

There doesn't seem to be any way of sending private messaging on these boards, so I suggest you join the Giant in the Playground forum and PM me your email address there.

There is this button that you click and it puts in all the fields for you btw. You still have to edit it but it isn't that bad I am half done field wise on the first page. Mind you I was not talking about auto complete fields. I don't know javascript. I would say I am going to bed now but...ugh sleep is for the weak.

Edit: was over thinking it though I still need it to round down not up.
Edit2: ok so maybe (STR-10)/2-0.1 isn't exactly elegant but it works dammit >.>

Dark Archive

I would like to say thanks for making a graphically pleasing character sheet. You get a +1 to awesomeness for it being free and keeping it updated.

Only thing I see that needs adding, and others have stated the same, is to fill out the skill section. However, as you stated, there is room to write them in. Plus I really don't use any of those knowledge skills. It's the only nit picky thing I could really find.

Hopefully in the future you'll make sheets for the new classes coming out in the ultimate combat book.

Thanks again.

I plan to, though I'll have to wait for the book before including them. Likewise the Magus from Ultimate Magic: there's a sheet for the playtest version, but I'll have to see what's changed in the final one before including it.

New feature: coloured character sheets

A lot of people have asked for their sheets to be either lighter or darker. It took some technical wrangling, but that's now possible with the Character Sheet Composer. Not only that, it also lets you convert your sheets to various colours!

This is still very experimental, so feedback is welcome. In particular, are the light and dark options too light or dark? Are the colours too strong or too weak?

This option was made possible through the help of Mark Storer of iText, and Leonard Rosenthal of Adobe. I'm incredibly grateful to both of them.

New classes from the Tome of Secrets

I've added the Artificer, Priest, Shaman and Witch Hunter classes from the third party Tome of Secrets.

So download them now

Beautiful sheet! You've done amazing work.

I think I will try my hand at some class modifications. I'm not very familiar with the software, so I make no promises, but my group uses a lot of variant/house rules, so being able to modify this to fit whatever whim strikes the DM/players is pretty useful.

One thing I noticed; on your cavalier sheet, you have the "Feat Sharing Duration" equation listed as "1 + ([character level]/2). Unless I'm reading this incorrectly, the Pathfinder SRD states that "allies retain the use of this bonus feat for 3 rounds plus 1 round for every two levels the cavalier possesses."

Well caught. I'll check that.

I do some graphic design work, and if you don't mind, I'm gonna grab your open source files and make some sheets of my own based of your work - as you've said (and my group has taught me whenever i try to make sheets for them) what one player wants in a sheet isn't what everybody else will want.

Still, You've added some innovative features (the money block was my favorite) that I'd like to begin adding to my own things.

Thank you for all the work so far!

I very much like these sheets, but I'd like to pick some nits, if that's ok:

1) I understand why you can't make specific sheets for all the Prestige Classes, etc. However, I'd still like to see a generic one - one that gives you a counter for special class abilities like Stigmata, or Mutate, or Inspiring Command, a block for writing down special class choices such as Advanced Mutagens or Defensive Powers, and a generic caster section. Such a sheet could be used for Prestige Classes, 3rd party ones, alternate ones, etc.

2) I think having some place dedicated to Proficiencies would be a good idea. Armor and Shield Proficiencies could be done simply as checkboxes down the right-hand side of the Armor and Shield sections, with "Prof.:" at the top and the boxes labelled "L, M, H" and then "S" and "TS". Weapon Proficiencies could have the 5 lowermost lines of the Special Abilities section of the Character Info sheet dedicated to them, with one additional line saying "Weapon Proficiencies". This would be as simple as adding the heading.

3) I'd like to see a sheet for the Antipaladin. This would pretty much simply be changing the names of the abilities on the Paladin sheet.

4) I'd like some space for noting down spell-like abilities. It's quite possible to rack up quite a few of these during the game, and so a place to list them, including effective caster levels and uses/day. My suggestion would be either removing the 2 lowermost Effects fields on the Combat sheet and put in 4-5 of these instead, or removing the lowermost lines in the Skills field and replacing them with spell-like abilities.

These are all suggestions only - I very much like the sheets as they are right now, and have nothing more than such minor niggles to contribute. I'd fix them myself, but have little skill with computers.

I don't intend to publish them, although I'll be happy to send you my files once I'm "done" (are we ever really done tweaking?)

These are really because I've spent 25 years searching for the "perfect" sheet... a LOT come really close, and I've never seen or made the Perfect one yet...But man, it's fun to try!

Sadie - most of the AI files are showing a 0 bytes, and won't open. A few will, but Character Info, Combat, and a few others won't. If I give you my e-mail can you send me those core files?

I'm quite sure the files are on the server, so something must have gone wrong when you downloaded them. Did you download them directly, or did you check them out with subversion?

Since my hard disk died a week back, I need to re-download the entire project anyway (among hundreds of other things), so I can't oblige right now. I suggest you try downloading them again.

Tried again, different browser, it works. *sigh*

Thank you for doing this! I'm mostly modifying them to be US Letter/Landscape, because I personally prefer that, even though I know it's less popular overall.

I don't know about popular, I made that choice for entirely selfish reasons :)

Scarab Sages

Hey Sadie,
First off, Great sheets! They are pretty much all I ever use. I do have a request though, as I have no idea how people use what you have to create there own stuff, but there are two things on your 3.5 sheets that I would like to see done to the Pathfinder Sheets if at all possible. First, you have two types of standard sheets on 3.5, the extended, which is used on the Pathfinder book, but also you have a Basic. Is it possible to incorperate this? Secondly, I would like to see a GM Party sheet. It looks great, so I would love to use one for Pathfinder.

Thank you in advance for any changes you are making, whether I helped, or they are just better ones!

All I can say is outstanding! Really nice work here, thanks for the contribution to the community.

I have a question about Vancian casters - ie Wizard, Cleric, Magus, etc. I'm playing a Cleric at the moment, and finding it helpful to leave in the list spells I use regularly, even if I don't have them prepared today. I've generally balanced the size of the spell list at each level based on the number of spells that class could cast per day, but is that not quite so applicable to a Vancian caster? Would it make sense for the Cleric to have a Wizard-size spell list even though they could never prepare that many at once?
