Just as long as they're not Pathfinder Goblins ;)

No, but that is pretty much what is being 'sat'. :)

What my hubby fails to mention, is our little one would make Pathfinder goblins run and hide.

Though in a recent game to introduce my parents to this "roleplaying thing" that we do, that Brock ran, my mum played a really good Kyra. So I think so will be okay.

Good to hear that Pathfinder is crossing the generations ;)

I live in central Birmingham and came to the event in 2010. So if you need any help on the local admin front I'm more that happy to help. If you have not firmly booked the location as yet there are some decent venues that are a short walk from the town centre, train & bus stations.

Thanks for the offer. We have booked rooms in the Aston University Business School Conference Centre again as they have done so well in the previous years. Our very own Charles Evans continues to be our local contact and scout.

Dave,

Not wanting to sound impatient or ungrateful but can you let me know when you think final details (booking etc) for the con will be public knowledge? I am wondering because having spent 10 months out of the last 13 away from home and already been to Conception since my return I need to broach the subject delicately with the boss (Wife) and would like to give her the full details before doing so.

Cheers,

Maca

I have to wait for official conformation from Aston University about the room bookings but I can confidently say that it will be £30 for the weekend - discounts for GMing. Things will be pretty much the same as last year so the info on the website is accurate. If you have any other questions then just email me paizoconuk@hotmail.com.

I have received official conformation that the venue is now booked for PaizoCon UK 2011. I hope to be able to accept bookings by the end of this month.

'Conformation'?
Was that an Officer Crabtree 'Allo 'Allo moment? :D
Hurrah, anyway!

Ooops! Um, yes deliberately trying out some accents for a scenario...

Please return to your Hurrah-ing!

Is the fact that we are total n00bs to PFS going to be a problem? I have a society number to put on the booking form, but no classes or levels; Chris doesn't even have a number, yet.

Should I just put down 1st level and generate a few characters to PFS rules?

Not a problem at all. It would be helpful if you have a 1st level character or two generated (and a PFS number) beforehand, but if you haven't then it can be sorted out on the day.

Booking forms printed and scribbled on. Cheque book located and last-but-one cheque also scribbled on.

Ha, ha. Typical ;) That's the most important step.

Thank you.

After a weekend of racking up the brownie points at home, the wife has given me permission to go to Paizocon UK, leaving her to look after the kids all weekend! Now all I need to do is broach the subject of accommodation costs...

Has anyone arranged room shares via the forum in previous years? I see a couple of the nearby hotels do fairly reasonably priced twin rooms.

I'm not aware of any room shares organised via the forums. But if anybody else asks then I'll point them in your direction.

There are often some quite reasonable weekend deals with some places so it is worth contacting them directly.

I reckon it would hold around 100 gamers...

These rooms...will they have windows that open....?

Will we have funds in the kitty for 100 complimentary Convention Corks?

DIBS!

That should be a laugh.
I enjoyed playtesting last year's scenario, for Open Design, even if Dazylar's paladin didn't end up in a wicker man like I predicted.

I predict for this scenario, that Fumble Deck will get some righteous hammer.

I've now had a few people asking about bringing kids along to play at PaizoCon UK. So far my response has been that they are welcome but I would recommend that they be at least 11 years old and have played before. I'll make sure that the GMs are happy with having younger players at their table and check with the players too.

Do people think this is a reasonable policy?
Anybody have objections to playing alongside younger players?

On the children front, is the venue okay with it? (It doesnt mean extra insurance, Health & Safety, or anything else from their point of view?)

No problems from the venue point of view.

I'd bring my Goblins along, but I doubt most people would be impressed by them running amok! At not quite 3 and not quite 5, they can put pathfinder Goblins to shame!

Birmingham Airport
At least out in the areas open to members of the non-flying public, Birmingham Airport lacks obvious maps. Navigational aids are apparently (as of the date of this post) solely restricted to overhead signs with arrows on.
The airport has a number of small shops, including Boots, WHSmith, and Spar, and a selection of coffee bars, a Burger King, and an ‘Italian Restaurant’. There are also public toilets, cash-point machines for withdrawing money and public telephones.
There is an overhead rail link from Birmingham Airport to Birmingham International [train] station, which runs a shuttle service every two or three minutes. (Basically there are two small trains which shuttle back and forth simultaneously in opposite directions all day, from 05:15 to 02:00.)
The 900 bus service travelling between Coventry and Birmingham calls at the airport, approximately every half hour, (depending on time of day and subject to prevailing traffic conditions). A single bus fare from the airport into Birmingham is currently priced at £1.70.
Train fares from Birmingham International to Birmingham New Street vary, ranging from £2.00 to £3.10 (depending on day of travel and time of travel) for a single unless you want to pay extra for a first class seat.
Travel by train is probably faster than by bus (engineering works and signal failures excepting). At this time the engineering works schedule for July has not been made available.
Apparently some National Express coaches on their way into Digbeth coach station in Birmingham may call at the Birmingham airport, and there are taxis available at the airport. I have no data on coach ticket prices or taxi fares at present, but would surmise that they are unlikely to be individually cheaper than a bus. If anyone is planning on travelling at an hour of the day when the regular buses are unlikely to be running, or a large group is planning on travelling together from the airport, I can enquire as to likely coach or taxi costs.

I'm afraid I will not be attending this year. The fixed number of tickets and high speed of them going out coupled with the fact that I wouldn't know until a week before hand at most if my wife was working that weekend or not means that it's impossible for me to commit cash at this time.

However I will be at UK Games Expo in June which will make up for it.

We're not sold out yet! (75% of tickets are sold at present.)

But do come and talk to me at UK Games Expo anmd hopefully I can change your mind ;)

Application and cheque sent today.

I couldn't get the cheap rate room this year; the cheapest I was offered was £67/night, despite dropping the name of the event, like I did last time.

Anyone else had that experience?

That's what I am being charged. I was told that that is the discounted rate!

Looks like I lucked out in previous years!

Bloody students thinking they can clog up the place; can't we kick them out of their rooms for one weekend?
I don't mind if they leave their dirty laundry on the floor, as long as I get a clean pillow and a bed to crash on.

They don't let the students in to the conference centre rooms thankfully ;)

Done and I make no such promises as Snorter. Evil is as evil does... I've left it up to the other chaps to email you too in case they would rather play PS than gobbos.

For this year's Balti Night we are going to the famous Imrans, right in the heart of the Balti Triangle. This is the original Balti House where it all started! Around 60 people have expressed an interest in our opening social so we have arranged a Special Buffet to get everybody served quickly. Do come and join us. Meet outside the Aston Business Centre at 7.30 pm and we will all share taxis, or meet us at 8.00 pm at Imrans, 262 Ladypool Road, Birmingham B12 8JU and ask for the PaizoCon Room.

The Special Buffet costs £14 including service and you can pile your plates with Mini Poppadoms and Chutneys, Fish Pakoras, Onion Bhajis, Fresh Green Salad, Chicken Tikka, Chicken Jalfrazi, Lamb Roganjosh, Vegetable Curry, Pilau Rice, Boiled Rice, Tandoori Naans and Rotis, Cucumber Raita, Gulaab Jaaman and Vanilla Ice Cream!

We need to know how many are coming so we can order the right amount of food. So, if you expressed an interest when you booked and now can't make it please let us know. Or, if you weren't interested but would now like to come, that's fine, just let us know.

I'm going to have to have a serious talk with the MemSahib about this..I really don't want to miss out but it all depends on her working hours..I'll have made a final decision by the end of this week.
