Liebdaga escapes (spoilers I guess)

Council of Thieves

I've been DMing a group that currently making their way through the Nessian Spiral in the Infernal Syndrome module. I've been dropping lots of hints to my group that the party is on a tight timeline but they keep taking their sweet time, resting after every encounter and taking days off.

Anyone got any suggestions for how to run things if Liebdaga escapes from the Nessian Spiral? :)

He escaped in my game. I had him nuke a swath of Westcrown from orbit and whacked their Fame points accordingly (-10). It would be appropriate for him to demolish the inevitable on his way out (easy at full power). Whom else dies is at your discretion... your PCs are ants to him - he'd pop off a blasphemy and shoulder them aside - if they start a fight, they die or flee.

I know this isn't a helpful post... but..
WOOT! Go Liebdaga! Burn down those arrogant Thrune-lap dog, devil-worshipping Wiscrani! That's what you get for copying Thassilonian technology! Burn! Burn Burn!
(Unaware that this scenario has actually happened until now)

On a slightly more helpful note, I guess you have the liberty of demolishing whatever buildings and family houses you want to. In fact, I would say the ensuing chaos would make it all the easier for the Council to achieve their final coup against the traditionalists.

I guess that could happen. The Council would need the contract (PCs) and have to find the Key.

It could very well happen in my game as the PCs might get whacked in the next session by Avahzi and her minions.

One PC might escape, but how long do I give them to see if the CoT succeed in releasing/taming Liebdaga.

What does the pit-fiend do upon release? Go back to Hell or take over Westcrown?

If people knew a pit fiend was loose it would draw adventurers from all four corners of the globe, and I doubt it wants that kind of attention. If it does rule then it does it from behind the scenes, while making people believe it left.

As said in the book, Liebdaga goes back to Hell, taking out a large portion of the Southwestern Coast (not the island) before leaving.

Indeed, Liebdaga is eager to return to Avernus and deal with whatever upstart that has laid claim to his throne in his absence.

But not before venting his rage on a sector or two of Westcrown. The devasatation should be localized but catastrophic and their failure should weigh heavily upon them... if it happens.

Spoiler:
Reading through this thread again and other threads I do believe Turin's group might be getting 'bad end'. XD

** spoiler omitted **

They came very close to the "bad ending", only to turn it around and earn redemption in the citizens' eyes. Making concerted efforts to rebuilt and reincarnate/raise dead/resurrect everyone that they could find even a piece of will do that.

Totally crushing the BBEGs certainly helped as well - and they kept the Big G NPC informed via messengers and whatnot of their intentions, actions and the results of those actions.
