ok so i need some help understanding how touch attacks work, how exactly do they work, do you add any ability scores to the attack roll, does the feat weapon finesse do anything towards touch attacks?
any and all help would be appreciated, help a combat person understand how this works
A melee touch attack uses your BAB and your strength modifier.
A ranged touch attack uses your BAB and your dexterity modifier.
If you have weapon finesse, a melee touch attack uses your BAB and Dex modifier.
Everything else is as normal, with feats applying as appropriate.

Another touch attack related question - in one of the VERY early 3.0 D&D splat books (Tome and Magic I believe - I don't own it anymore and it's been a while since I did), there was a feat that let you "stretch" a melee touch attack spell into a ranged touch attack spell.
Does anyone know if there's a similar feat anywhere in Pathfinder?

I think the Reach Spell metamagic feat might work.

Yep. +1
It's in the APG.

Awesome, thank you! I figured it was somewhere, just didn't know where to look.

Also fun to be an aberrant bloodline Sorc.the Long Limbs ability is kind of neat:
Long Limbs (Ex): At 3rd level, your reach increases by 5 feet whenever you are making a melee touch attack. This ability does not otherwise increase your threatened area. At 11th level, this bonus to your reach increases to 10 feet. At 17th level, this bonus to your reach increases to 15 feet.

Natural armor doesnt apply?

Nope. That is why the big huge scary monster with the 30+ Nat Armor bonus has an 8 Touch AC.

ETV.
A 3-foot-long, blazing beam of red-hot fire springs forth from your hand. You wield this blade-like beam as if it were a scimitar. Attacks with the flame blade are melee touch attacks. The blade deals 1d8 points of fire damage + 1 point per two caster levels (maximum +10). Since the blade is immaterial, your Strength modifier does not apply to the damage. A flame blade can ignite combustible materials such as parchment, straw, dry sticks, and cloth.
Since it is wielded as a scimitar, some GMs will rule that it is not a finesseable weapon, since the scimitar it is based on isn't.
Other GMs will see the melee touch attack statement and rule that it is open for Finesse.
And then, you get into the Dervish Dancer questions...
I think this is one question that has been asked in a thread specifically going into this spell and the questions surrounding it...
