"Find an event near you" not working properly

I've got 3 stores and 1 home where we run PFS Game Days. Two of the stores (Raven's Nest and Treefort Games) and the home PFS Game Days appear when I search within 100 miles of my zipcode -- 30132.

However, yesterday we had a third store join the Pathfinder Society of North Georgia (Quest Comics). I entered 4 PFS Game Days in the system and when I search, they don't show up even though they are still listed under my Sessions Tab for games I am organizing.

I went a step further to search and deleted my zipcode and used the zipcode of the store -- 30117. I used the within 100 miles and the other 2 stores and the home game still show up as events found. But the Quest Comic PFS Game days in Carrollton still won't appear.

The event system is going through some growing pains right now that Ross is trying to nail down and solve. Sorry for the confusion. :-/

I just assumed that function never worked. Whenever I try it it tells me about events in France (I live in California)

Describe exactly how you do it to get that result.

It used to do weird things like that to me too. I would put in my zip code and set it for 50 or 100 miles, and then in addition to the actual local stuff where I am in Virginia, it would also give me locations in Ohio hundreds of miles away. I just now tested it for distances of 50, 100 and 150 miles and it is finally being accurate for those, but when I put the range at 200 miles, it still shows at least a couple of places much more than 200 miles away. So for me at least it is working much better than the last time I checked it a few months ago.

It's always worked pretty well for me, except that it doesn't know about my zip code by default (46037) which isn't all that uncommon because it's a newish zip code. My bank branch, located in this zip code can't use it to find itself via their corporate website :)

Here is how it works for me every single time. This also works for non-US !!

Step 1: In Find Address - fill in your address.
Step 2: Hit the Google button - Latitude and Longitude should be filled out
Step 3: Fill out the Radius you are willing to travel
Step 4: Hit the Search button

The pit-falls:
Using the 'Use Google Maps' button seems to do nothing for me
The form pre-fills my address. So I don't have to do step 1 any more. Don't be fooled - you still need to do step 2. Only if Latitude and Longitude are filled in do I get accurate answers

This is from a user perspective - finding an event.

There is also the issue from the event co-ordinator. There seem to be 2 issues:

1) It seems that events expire after a while. This is fine for some (I'm not interested in an event last year) - but I have the feeling it also happened to my on-going game.
2) Take care to have the public events button switched on

My recommendation for events-coordinators

Fill in your new event and check it out yourself. If you can't find it - nobody else can. Go back to event and edit / resave. It did solve it last time I had trouble with my event (after a few trials).

Long term I hope local co-ordinators will check if events they know about are listed and should be able to nudge the person doing the event to fill out the form.

Right now there are only two events I find in a 1000 km radius - AukeT in the Netherlands and myself in the UK. This can't be all that is going on here in Europe.

I'm having oddities too.

My Wed. home-game shows up on the search window in Richfield. I know others can see it because they've contacted me via that event. Conversely, my public open monthly event in Roseville (easily within 20 miles of the first event) doesn't show up on the public listing at all. I double checked and both are set for public.

From http://paizo.com/pathfinderSociety
I click FIND EVENTS IN YOUR AREA

I put my address in and now it works fine...

Didn't work the first 2 times I tried so I stopped bothering that was months ago. Seems to work alright for me at the moment though.

I'll try and keep an eye on it and post again if it decides California is part of France.
