The comic is focusing pretty much on the current group for the foreseeable future. The hope is to some day have all the iconics have their time on-stage, though. Eventually.

Pity was hoping to see more of Lini Especially since out of the current group Kyra and Merisiel are the only ones that I find all that likable.

Might they be traveling away from Varisia to other regions as well, or are they planned to stay strongly localised to that area?

Good evening James!

1)Did King Xin have any mythic tiers?

2) If Xin was made aware of the Runelord's plot to betray him, would he be able to stop them? With a warning of 1-2 weeks of advance perhaps?

3)Do you already know who were all of the original 7 Runelords? Or is it something that you create on a "need to use basis"?

4)Were Xanderghul and Sorshen the most powerful Runelords at the time of their betrayal? I've noticed that Alderpash was said to be one of the most powerful at his hieght.

5) Did the people of Thassilon consider themselves as part of the azlanti culture?

Hi James. Hope you have a fun weekend. : )

What is the general attitude within the Inner Sea region to the resurrection/raising/cloning of monarchs or other lesser authority figures (e.g. down to the level of mayor) in the event of an assassination?

If it's significantly variable from region to region, I'm chiefly interested in Druma and Isger. There doesn't seem to be a great deal of canon cultural information about these two places, beyond what's in the (excellent) Inner Sea World Guide.

Thanks!

Skipping out from my comic-related queries, a really brief one that I'd like your opinion on as a GM: there's a variant aasimar ability (replacing the racial spell-like) that allows them to summon a lantern archon as if by Summon Monster III once per day:

"You can summon a lantern archon once per day as though by summon monster III."

It doesn't say that it's a spell or spell-like ability, so should it be treated as one?

What about some big thing that requires all of the iconics to come to gether? Even if they all don't get lines seeing squads form like the arcane casters forming an artillery unit while the warriors spear head the assault followed by the divine forming the second wave as the stealth oriented types take out the kidneys from behind the enemy line would be cool. Or maybe a dodge ball tournament?

Mr. James Jacobs,

Have Calistria and Nocticula ever tried to seduce someone, "gone all the way" and not ended up with what they wanted?

On an unrelated note. How would you portray a CN worshiper/cleric of Lamashtu?

Good morning!

You may want this book.

Hello, Mr. Jacobs,

Since Groetus is sorta your baby, I'd like to ask you some questions relating to it. I'm assuming the parts about it being the herald of the apocalypse is true, and not mad ravings or big talk coming from a godling, so forgive me if it wasn't meant to be taken that seriously:

1) Would it be possible, for an enterprising party of adventurers (Or a motley of Celestials, or something like that) to... Well, kill it and as such prevent the End of the World? Or is the final escathon a foregone conclusion, a cosmological constant that can't be changed no matter what? In that case, does that mean that, ultimately, the daemons "win"? As in, get what they want?

Edited to add: Or a combination of both? Is it possible to kill it, but that still wouldn't prevent Pharasma from eventually judging everyone and then herself and the universe going kaputski? Even if this is the case, the next questions remain.

2) Would something remain after it's done with the multiverse? I mean, I think that the full destruction of the Material is assured, and, since most Outer Planes are completely dependent on it for sustenance, they'd be gone too, but, would infinite planes like the Maelstrom and the Abyss, and demiplanes tucked away at some hidden corner of reality get destroyed as well? Or would they remain as some kind of primordial soup?

3) Somewhat related to the previous: Is Groetus' Apocalypse a definitive, forevermore thing? As in, The End? Or is it some part of a complex cyclical nature of reality? In other words: Could/Would another reality eventually rise up from the ruins, complete with it's own deities and planes and stories and such, perhaps with some relics of the old multiverse hidden somewhere?

I understand most of those questions can be answered with "whatever works best for your GM/story", but I'd be interested in your particular vision when you created it, and and made it a part of the PFS, if possible.

As a god of cities, he's more into urban colors than he is into nature colors, yes.

Isn't a lawn a proper sign of city as opposed to untamed wilderness? Perhaps the Church of Abadar is where the first "Keep Off The Grass Sign" was made?

Yes.

And I've played part of Fable and a little more of Fable 2, and I really didn't like them.

Gave up not far into the 1st one because the goofy voice acting was off-putting, and because you couldn't make a female character.

I only really bought the 2nd one because you COULD make a female character, despite the fact that I didn't really enjoy the first one. The fact that they chose to make your character incapable of speaking and can only communicate with the rest of the world by making fart noises or dancing like a goon or otherwise doing silly pantomimes really broke verisimilitude for me and that eventually got to be annoying enough that I quit playing.

Not interested in playing any more in the series. There's plenty of other games out there to play.

That's not something that's been decided yet... but it would make sense to retain some of the current ones and cycle in new ones slowly, so that readers of the comic who have no prior experience with the brand aren't completely put off by the sudden change of the characters.

It'd be like having a dozen issues of a new Batman comic and then on the 13th issue suddenly the star is a wrestler superhero who can burrow fast. There has to be some crossover when you change main characters.

As a general rule, it's something that is relatively well accepted... but keep in mind that when a monarch is assassinated, that's often because there's a LOT of folks who want that person dead. They'll not only try again... but they will certainly take steps to prevent said resurrection as well, especially if they know resurrection is an option. Furthermore, it's possible that the society the monarch ruled secretly or openly agrees with the assassination and therefore, even though they COULD bring him back, they choose not to.

Druma would certainly be pro-resurrection. Isger probably as well. But in Isger, which is a much more war-torn nation, leaders die more often and as a result, since it's not cheap to bring back the dead, they might not do so simply because they can't afford to do so all the time.

It should be treated as one. Lantern archons are arguably the best thing you can summon with that spell, after all. Furthermore, when the rules for something say "as per the spell" then you need to be able to deduce all the level-variable things like range and duration and Save DC and all that... which means it kinda HAS to be a spell-like ability.

Yes.

And if I had to portray a CN worshiper of Lamashtu, I'd present the character as insane, but not evil. She'd worship Lamashtu either out of fear and would be looking to provide supplication and prayer as a way to appease her, and would live her life in fear of her deity, or she'd just be a crazy heretic.

Great Old Ones shouldn't be outsiders. That's kind of the whole point of all the other deities and demigods. The Great Old Ones should be more tied to the material plane than that, and making them outsiders, even native outsiders, breaks that design theme.

1) Groetus is a god. Whether or not it's possible to kill him, and what effects that would have, would depend ENTIRELY on if you want to tell that story in the first place. Who's to say that the only thing preventing the end of creation is the fact that Groetus is here to predict it? Maybe killing him is what he's actually predicting, and THAT causes the end of all things? In any event... it's possible to kill Groetus because other gods have died before. But how? Not by anything we've published. You'd have to make it up. As with ANY deity death story element.

2) Again... what would remain would be up to you. Not something I'm really ready or willing to talk about, because if I do, then it risks becoming canon in some folks' head, and that's not canon I am interested in establishing.

3) See #2 above.

I assume you've read the article about Groetus in part 4 of Shattered Star? There's a LOT more info about him there.

In any event, my vision when he was created was that he's MUCH more interesting as the "Doomsayer" deity rather than the actual end of the world. Because the end of the world means you can't play games in that world any more.

I guess you didn't notice my second question.

Can intelligent items take class levels?

Worship of Desna in Numeria isn't all that different than Varisia, other than the fact that there are fewer ethnic Varisians worshiping her in Numeria. Her worship there is mostly by nomadic barbarians who are more interested in existing at peace in their homeland than they are in waging eternal warfare. They enjoy traveling and searching for signs of their goddess in the skies above, but generally regard the fragments of the starship in their land as taboo and elements NOT from Desna.

As for a UFO worshiping Oracle... go with something like Heavens or Dark Tapestry.

I suppose so. The fact that the reference to a "Maiago River" is apparently only hidden in the text on page 28 of Heart of the Jungle and is NOT placed on the map itself meant that when we did have to figure names out... I suspect the name "Maiago" was forgotten or unnoticed.

Consider Maiago River to be an older name for the river now known as the Lower Korir.

4) Yes. Alderpash ONE of the most powerful, but not THE most powerful—Xanderghul and Sorshen were both at least equally powerful to him, but after he met his fate, he more or less stopped advancing levels.

5) Not as a people. There were certainly Azlanti Loyalists among the people here and there but they would be regarded as traitors at worst or eccentrics at best.

How does that work!? Doesn't worshiping a Horseman basically turn you into a nihilistic puppykicker?

If you're really devout and worshiping the horseman of your choice "correctly" it doesn't work. You soon become neutral evil.

The "one step away" alignments are really the domain of heretics and outliers.

I may be nihilistic but I would never kick a puppy. How dare you assume such things. Hrmph!

I have a question about a specific secret door however It's kind of a question I have in general.

spoiler(Rise of the Runelords:

In Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition page 50 there is a secret door(C24). The interactive maps don't have a wall there, and I was planning on using the map in my game. However the room is adjacent to stairs so it makes sense that the treasury might be there instead.

If I place the treasury there then my players won't have that mysterious missing space, that would've been a dead giveaway to most players.

I don't believe the treasury is alluded to so I'm unsure if my players will find it if I place it there. Especially given the location.

In general I do want my players to find secrets like that right?

So you're an intellect devourer living in Illvarandin. Not one of the rulers, but a reasonably well off and respected little brain dude (maybe with a few levels of rogue or sorcerer). What are some of the coolest/most important rooms in your house? Some of your favorite amenities?

(Feel free to not answer this in the first person. I'm sick and the codeine cough syrup is... effecting me).

If you're okay with giving an opinion on a rules interaction (relatively minor, sort of):

At mythic tier 9th-10th, a character gains the Immortal ability, which means that you need a critical hit or CDG (the latter also states that if something is immune to critical hits then it cannot be subject to a CDG) to permanently kill them, or they'll just come back to life in 24 hours.

How would you say this interacts with abilities or items that grant immunity to critical hits, or near enough? For example, the Preserve Organs alchemist discovery (up to a 75% chance of ignoring a critical hit, so there's a 1-in-4 chance that you'd be killed permanently), being a ghost means you're immune to critical hits as part of the incorporeal subtype, and the Celestial Obedience for the empyreal lord Ylimancha grants as its 3rd boon a complete immunity to critical hits. There's also a Guardian path ability that allows you to instantaneously nullify a critical hit by spending mythic power.

Since the 9th/10th tier means you can't be "permakilled" without your opponent scoring a critical hit on you, does rendering yourself immune to critical hits do what I think it does? Make you, for all intents and purposes, unkillable, at least on a permanent basis? It wouldn't matter if your opponent had an artifact even at 10th tier... you'd be immune to critical hits, so the "can be killed if a critical hit is scored with XYZ" effect would never come into play in the first place.

(If this is so, then Geb, as a ghost, really is completely unkillable, and even if his specific condition is met... wouldn't that mean he could just come back via Immortal anyway? It does specifically state that you can only be killed under those particular conditions, so which specific condition overrides which? The ghost Rejuvenation or the mythic Immortal?)

As another, unrelated question (well, mostly, since it was stumbling across the "Preserve Organs" discovery I mentioned above that got me thinking about critical hits and immortality), the Sun Orchid Elixir and the new Thuvian Alchemist class. As its capstone ability it gains an "imperfect" version of the sun orchid elixir that grants the user eternal youth.

Is it just me, or does that not seem very imperfect? The regular elixir only reverts you to the prime of your youth, after which you need to keep on drinking it as you get older again. The Thuvian Alchemist capstone might be limited to the character, but it gives it to you permanently. No need to rely on successive doses of the stuff.

Additionally, given that the capstone is an imperfect version of the sun orchid elixir, would you be willing to say whether or not it's likely any NPCs in Golarion have reached that point? If might only be "imperfect" but it's still a whole lot closer than anybody else seems likely to get to the sun orchid elixir, so I could see such an individual as hunted by all sorts of interested parties seeking to know how they did it in the hopes of building on that to develop a copy of the true formula. Or the government of Thuvia wanting to "have words with" anybody who figured it out, because they might be getting dangerously close to upsetting their means of income.

A bit like the "Cataclysm Mage" in Eberron, where it's stated that nobody alive has the capstone (saving it for PCs to gain because of the in-world ramifications - I could certainly see something similar from the Thuvian Alchemist PrC in Golarion).

Somewhat related - you said that Pharasma was the oldest deity in the setting. Does that include demigod levei powers like the Qlippoth and Protean Lords?
Yes.

She's older than Azathoth? Huh. Neat.

How much older is she than Azathoth?

Was she the first deity, or is anything older than her simply dead and forgotten now?

If you want the players to find secret stuff, you should put hints and clues in that they should look where the secret is. If you only want them to find a secret if they're observant, then let the dice fall where they may.

If you want to change things around to match your setup and play style and all that, that's the right call.

The meat room where I keep my favorite bodies under wraps, kept constantly fresh with gentle repose. Also, the scrying room where I can watch minions to be drink down midnight milk and unknowingly prepare their minds for my platter.

If a creature's immune to critical hits, then the thing that needs to critically hit them to kill them first needs to find a way to get through that immunity. That said... if that doesn't work, then a coup de grass should do the trick.

No one should be entirely unkillalbe. There should always be a way to kill a mythic character. Maybe with a blow to the heart with a special artifact, or being trapped in a special soul trap, or whatever.

Either that, or just put them in temporal stasis or imprisonment or something.
