Sorry; nope. It's a matter of managing the excitement for the book, marketing, and the like. I can't reveal that much information about what is or isn't in the book yet. That time will come soon, though; the book is hopefully going to the printer in a few weeks... and at that point things are locked down enough with the contents that we can start revealing information.

But the fact is that even now, only a few weeks from sending it to the printer, things can change.

What are your thoughts on Paizo producing a modern campaign setting for Pathfinder at some point?

A big part of Pathfinder's success is that we provide a HUGE amount of support for the rules with our various Adventure Paths, Campaign Setting Material, Player's Guides, novels, modules, and so on. Unless we wanted to do a "fire and forget" setting, which might not be a good idea since that might just result in a money sink that few folks get into, we would want to provide similar support for new campaign settings we release.

And chances are good that a 3rd party publisher will beat us to a modern campaign setting anyway.

Personally... I'm not a fan of modern d20 settings. I much prefer sci-fi or fantasy settings for d20 style games... and not all sci-fi settings at that. I could really get behind a postapocalyptic game, for example, but I'm not sure I'd be interested in one that's more like Star Trek or Star Wars...

Despite what panicked gamers have claimed for the past 30 years... no, I do not. At least, not judging by how well Paizo is doing selling RPG materials.

(1) Have you ever read the Incarnations of Immortality series by Piers Anthony? If so, what did you think?

(2) I noticed in one of your answers that you like the Death character from Neil Gaiman's Sandman (Excellent series, by the way. I collected from issue #1). Has Paizo ever considered trying to get someone like Neil Gaiman as a sort of celebrity writer - perhaps for the short fiction in an AP issue?

(3) If I recall correctly, Vin Diesel is one of several Hollywood types who enjoy D&D. Would Paizo ever consider trying to get someone like that to appear at PaizoCon?

Nope. I'm not sure what happened to your picture, but it's gone.

1) I am a HUGE fan of kaiju movies. Godzilla's one of my favorite movie stars, in fact. I'm probably Paizo's biggest kaiju fan, but there are others. Erik's pretty keen on them, and so is Wes, although Wes has some controversial opinions about Mothra and Baragon.

Have you ever seen a Godzilla movie while you were in Japan?

I've never been to Japan.

Are you as excited as I am, and do you think it will actually come to fruition this time?

The Dark Tower would make an EXCELLENT series. And J. J. Abrams is one of the most talented guys working in TV/Cinema today. It could be VERY good. I wish it was being developed for HBO though.

How would you make this into a rpg product? Would you go the AP route or something different?

It would be a one-shot big campaign setting. Or while I'm shooting at the moon, an enormous campaign setting boxed set.

Do you have any products planned set in Molthune and/or Nirmathas (other than the Inner Sea guide, of course)?

Depends on how good the knives were, and whether or not you struck her as a fool or not. And even then... probably not. She's hard to approach and keeps her heart to herself.

No new plans at this time for much about Molthune or Nirmathas beyond the revised World Guide.

Molthune and Nirmathas are pretty close to Robin Hood land; so, medieval Britain and MAYBE France. Also known as "Generic Fantasy Land."

Yes. We'll be doing a basic/intro game for Pathfinder at some point. As soon as we can, in fact. It's an important addition to the Paizo family.

Ideally would you guys want this to be a one-shot primer/gateway or would you consider marketing it as separate and sustained basic game -different age demo, playstyles, etc.

Oh yeah - if no one has already asked - favorite Universal monster, if you have one.

I think it's Ron Howard who's doing it, not JJ Abrams (I could be wrong). I think Abrams was offered a chance to do it a few years back and has since backed out. I like the format concept (alternating movie and TV series).

Wow! That's really interesting to me. Music and concerts have been such a HUGE part of my life so I find it interesting to hear that.

Do you mind if I ask the follow up? Why not? Just never had the desire? Not into big crowds? Not a live music fan? Opportunity just never presented itself?

We've actually got a few adventures out for Osirion already, as well as a Player's Companion and an entry in the upcoming "Lost Cities of Golarion." As a result, we're not as likely to do an AP set there anytime soon—we'll either be going new places that haven't had as much exploration or returning to old favorites.

That all said... an Egyptian-flavored AP does sound fun. Maybe some day!

Box sets are generally pretty expensive, and we're a bit timid about them. A box set would have to be something we could expect to make a LOT of money on (like, say, a basic Pathfinder game) before we'd really consider it. A sci-fi one-shot RPG is not something we could expect to make enough money on to risk a box set.

That said... a one-shot hardcover book about a post-apocalyptic campaign setting with appropriate rules might be cool. And something I'd love to see Paizo do... especially since I've already got about 90,000 words of that exact thing already written...

Ok so no box set that is ok with me, and I am looking forward to the pathfinder Basic box set. You should also tell the people that make decisions that The post-apocalyptic book is going to be huge. I am not sure if that is true I would just like to see one.

So how would magic be handled, would it just use spells as written or would you do something else.

Magic in the basic game? Unknown.

Magic in the post apocalyptic game? Same as how it works in Pathfinder.

Monkeygod wrote:

I actually don't know much about how all that works. I believe that everything we sell through a distributor (which includes everything that Amazon sells) is pretty standard at half cover price coming back to Paizo, or something like that. If Amazon super deep discounts a product, we still essentially get paid the same for that product as if they sold it for MSRP or twice that amount.

Have you hear of WARLORDS OF THE APOCALYPSE by Adamant Entertainment, I just did an per order it. but I will still get your book when it comes out (I am going to just start believing that it will happen, not more of this mite crap)

Ok James......Daemons!

Will any be featured as the main villain (or at least a central character) in an upcoming module or AP?

Does Paizo have any plans for daemon minis?

When are we going to see a Daemon-centric Chronicles book, and how is it coming along?

And, on a completely unrelated note: Can I borrow one of your interns? I promise I'll bring him or her back mostly intact......mostly....
