I remember reading awhile ago that the two pieces of criteria that had to be met for an updated hardcover of an AP was that the majority of the books had to be out of stock and that the original AP had to be from before a major rules change (it was worded better than that, but at the time meant that it was made for 3.5 rather than Pathfinder).

Is there a decent chance that, since Kingmaker will meet both of those after PF2 is released, that we'll get an updated version of the AP? (Possibly with some of the modifications to the story that are being introduced in the CRPG?)

Anything's possible, I suppose.

In the meantime, if you've got a Kingmaker itch you wanna scratch, be sure to check out the new video game coming out in a few weeks!

Dear James Jacobs,

Having seen some of the product, can you say which NPC in Kingmaker is your favorite?

I've not seen much of the video game at all, in fact. My direct involvement happened in the earlier portion of it, but now it's mostly Mark Moreland who's been doing the approvals and interfacing with Owlcat Games. I'm very much looking forward to PLAYING the game, though!

Did you ever see the comic con trailer for Alita Battle Angel(AKA Battle Angel Alita)? If so what did you think?

I did. And I'm as interested in seeing it because it looks good as I am because of the folks who are making it.

Dear James,

When P2 comes out, will there be an official write up regarding how each AP worked out in the canon universe? Or is this something we will need to deduct from reading the entries of the corresponding regions? Corollary question: will some past APs be considered "optional"? (i.e. whether they happened or not will be left vague in the write up of the world in P2 material) While other APs' assumed outcome will be baked in the setting? (e.g. new ruler in Korvosa, a certain city free of Cheliax rule, etc.)

On the one hand I appreciate the freedom left to us to shape the world as we please, thanks to most APs avoiding previous locations and usually ignoring other APs, but I guess we are slowly reaching a point where so much story has happened, that some of it might need to crystallize into canon so we all still refer to more or less the same world? No easy way to deal with it I guess -- your view would be appreciated, as well as anything you can tell us about what to expect canonwise/lorewise in Golarion P2.0

Haven't seen any in theaters over the past week or so; last one I saw was "The Meg" which I quite enjoyed.

"Strangers: Prey at Night" was very well made and had some really stylish scenes and great camerawork, but the story was kinda cliche and boring, alas.

Watched about 12 hours of Lovecraft short films from the HPL Film Festival, gathering the best of the supposedly best over the past 6 years. Some of them were truly outstanding, particularly "The Night Ocean" and "Sound from the Deep," but most of them were, alas, mediocre or just downright awful.

We'll be updating the timeline to 4719 AR and that will include canonical "ends" for all the Adventure Paths, which will for the most part assume the PCs were successful since I do NOT want and am NOT comfortable hard-coding PC failures into the game's setting.

We haven't announced yet how we'll be getting this information out to the public, but rest assured, we will.

How things might differ in any one table's home games will vary wildly, but honestly that's no different than all the other changes to the setting GMs and players introduce.

Given that we will see Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah in Godzilla King of the Monsters and King Kong in Godzilla vs King Kong, what are your top 5 kaiju that you like to see next in the American Godzilla movie universe?

From what I hear, Godzilla vs. Kong is the last in this universe, with the contract with Toho expiring after that and Toho taking the charge going forward... but if the AMerican ones continue (which I hope... I hope BOTH the Monarch movies and the Toho movies go forward forever in parallel)...

My top five I'd like to see next would be:

Baragon, Gigan, Mechagodzilla, Biolante, and Hedorah.

But I also want NEW kaiju too.

I feel like I should know this... but does Paizo have open call for freelance writers, or is there a specific time of the year when submission drives are done? I'm angling to submit anything yet, but I am planning ahead.

(Also, Oniodaemon tease? I will be terribly disappointed if this is not true, that would be awesome!)

We don't All of our published products are outlined and concepted in-house and then we assign them to established freelancers or to hand-picked new authors. We don't take unsolicited submissions.

(And if it's not true, then it's Todd's fault for not asking a question! Mwa ha ha.)

Fair enough. I suppose if Paizo did an open call, there would be some many submissions as to be unmanageable.

Is there any chance of seeing examples the Kyton Demagogues or Rakshasha Immortals before the switch to 2e?

James, is the subplot relating to Nocticula and the long simmering redemption possibility still on track for first edition, or has it been moved to second edition?

It's being resolved in Return of the Runelords (and in fact started already with Planar Adventures).

For a long while ( I think since the statue of her was illustrated and included way back in a History of Ashes) have been fascinated by the goddess Lissala. As a "forgotten" god she has had a lot of easter eggs and a few articles about her, and even a hint that someday she might reestablish herself. Unfortunately, the article dedicated to her did not include obediences and boons... any chance of more information on her in Return of the Runelords (as Krune was her high priest)?

What calendar did ancient Osirion use after the Age of Darkness but before the founding of Absalom? Instead of Absalom Reckoning.

In other words what calendar would Malar from the Pale Mountain chapter use to describe the year he was imprisoned in?

It hasn't been released yet. It's all done and waiting for release, but the release was delayed as a result of our website's issues over the past few weeks. I think it'll be live mid next week (Paizo has the day off on Monday, so don't expect it on that day.)

Nope. Lissala's not really intended to be much of an active deity today, so she's not really high priority for us to give player support.

Nope. I've run games for 1 player a lot and 4+, but not so much 2. The general advice I would have would be to consider having some GM controlled NPC allies along, or othewise watch out when including foes that can instantly take a PC out of combat with things like death or petrificaiton or paralzyation.

Are APs still written for 4 players at 15 point buy?

How interested are you in setting an entire AP in Casmaron, Tian Xia or Arcadia, with nothing to do with the Inner Sea region whatsoever?

Yes. That's the basic assumption for the game; it doesn't need to be "written somewhere" because it's the standard. It's only when a game or campaign goes against that standard, as laid out in the core rules, that the exception exists.

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being no thanks and 10 being yes please, I'd give this idea an 8.

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being super easy and 10 being back-breakingly hard, I'd give this idea an 11.

With the plethora of plot-hooks left throughout the expansive material of the Inner Sea, which plot hooks especially (barring the details of Return and Tyrant's Grasp) interest you as Adventure Path material?

Since it's part of my job to determine what Adventure Paths we do, and since we don't announce Adventure Paths that far out, there's really no way for me to answer this question without simultaneously revealing the plot seeds for the next dozen or so adventure paths.

So I'll say this instead: check out the Inner Sea World Guide. All of that is potential plot-hooks for the next Adventure Path.

The only one I've seen this year is the anime Godzilla on Netflix. It was boring enough that I fast-forwarded through the last two thirds of it and have no interest in watching the second one that just came out.

Hey James, I’m going to play a Cleric soon, and I have a question.
What makes Zon Kuthon lawful? I don’t associate loss and torture to Law, so I’m having trouble understanding this.

Check out the in-depth discussion of him in Inner Sea Gods, but the short version is that he's all about the traditions of loss and pain, in much the same way the cenobites of Hellraiser are. And they follow a strict set of rules as for who can and can't be used as victims, etc. His faith also consists of the oldest still-active nation in the Inner Sea region—Nidal is older even than Taldor or Oririon, and you don't get a nation lasting for nearly 10,000 years without organization and adherence to laws.

I’ll make sure to check out Inner Sea Gods, thanks James!

Should I watch Hellraiser?

The first Hellraiser was a formative experience for me, and remains one of my favorite horror movies of all times. I have no idea of your tolerance for extreme and gruesome horror, nor your patience for movies without modern special effects though. Your mileage may vary.

"Pal, ditch the toxic masculinity and be a good father or your self-centered misguided near-heretical beliefs are going to get a lot of people killed down the road AND end up with you getting shunted into the Abyss in the afterlife to be a larva on a demon's dinner plate."

Hopefully in more diplomatic terms, though, so that he'd take the advice as intended and not let his pride and stubbornness get in the way and double down on the awfulness.

But then, if I did that, then Burnt Offerings would never have happened in the first place, and Paizo might not be around today... so maybe I'd just avoid him entirely and send Nualia an anonymous letter of support and understanding.
