What the heck is Mengkare trying to prove with his "perfect" society that functions on the rigorously controlled island that he personally oversees but which has not been duplicated in any larger or less controlled context? (He'd NEVER get published!)

Moving on-

Phantasm II is my least favorite installment of the series- so, Mighty T-Rex, as someone who likes it a great deal: What is it about the flick that sells you on it? (Not expecting any minds to get changed here, I'm just curious)

There's not a lot I'm really interested in saying more about Hermea here, and this isn't the right place to develop new content for the region. Not every idea we put forth, though, is and will be explored further in the future. Some stuff just gets what it gets.

Phantasm II is, perhaps, my MOST favorite installment of the series, because it's got the best special effects, it's paced better than the others, and it adds just enough new content without overwhelming things. It builds on the original in a very organic way, but doesn't delve into the goofy silly humor of part 3 and doesn't overstep its capabilities with CGI like parts 4 and 5 did. Nostalgia's also a big factor; it hit at the EXACT right time for me to enjoy it. As I've said before, it's the first R-rated movie I saw in the theater, so that was pretty exciting. And I'd seen Phantasm several times before as well and enjoyed it so I was ready for more. And with the exception of Mad Max Beyond Thundedome (also a movie I seem to like more than everyone else), it was one of the few sequels to a series I'd enjoyed that I had an opportunity to see in a theater before waiting for video and having significant parts spoiled by friends who'd seen it before me.

No.

1. What's your main gripe with the DC's current crop of comicbook films?
2. What's your main gripe with the Marvel's current crop of comicbook films?
3. Have you ever played Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri?
4. What's the thought process for you fine folks at Paizo when it comes determining the alignment of a nation? For places like Cheliax, Nidal and the Worldwound it seems pretty obvious, but for more ambiguous nations like Molthune, Brevoy or Qadira it must be difficult.
5. Speaking of alignments, why is Sargava Neutral and not Evil? I mean, sure, they don't worship evil outsiders there but it is a colonist state that that seems to have basically enslaved, or at the very least oppressed, the native Mwangi people to the point of several revolts.
6. Sorry about the earlier question I asked. I was wanted to know if the Iconic Investigator Quinn and the President of Andoran were both of Mwangi descent.

Many thousand gold pieces. The weird thing, though, is that since the game ties magic items up with gold pieces as a way to quantify value, that means that PCs end up being SUPER rich when it comes to buying power for things like manors and castles and ships and the like, and gamers are quick to lose sight of this fact and assume that since their 10th level PC can afford multiple manors that it's illogical that the rest of the world doesn't live in one.

Further, it's a bit weird to think about how a single sword might be worth more than a castle.

Ultimate Campaign DOES have prices for all sorts of buildings, though; I'd suggest you'd check that out for more details. If you do want to include home owning and purchasing in your game, make sure your players are cool with it and aren't going to be weirded out by the pricing though.

Is there anything on what is used to make magic items? Like, what is this super expensive material?

We have crafting rules, but they basically just convert gold pieces to magic swords.

1) They're without a soul. And I've always been bored by Superman.

2) Too many white guys. Thankfully, they're FINALLY getting around to fixing that, particularly over on Netflix.

3) For about 10 minutes before I realized it wasn't for me.

4) That's pretty much 100% me making those decisions. My thought process is to try to spread the alignment representations out so that all nine have nations as best as possible, and to use them to help separate similar nations from each other. But mostly, it's just 30 some years of experience with the game and its alignments that makes selecting the national alignments relatively easy for me.

5) Because they ride the line between oppressor and savior, and in time could go either way.

6) Quinn is Garundi, I believe. Not sure of the President of Andoran.

7) Kyonin WOULD be how I explain it. The queen of Kyonin doesn't have a very strong role as a director of the nation, and mostly lets the elves of Kyonin do what they do without interfering. Outsiders who are more used to a traditional "lawful" version of feudalism might interpret this as having the queen as a figurehead with no power, but that's not the case.

8) Asmodeus

9) Socothbenoth

10) Not yet. We've got a lot of hints indicating that Nocticula may soon become chaotic neutral, but that's not good. It's as close as we'll likely go anytime soon though.

11) No, because we decided that our transgender iconic should have that built in from the very start, not "tacked on" to an existing character.

Were the restrictions on deities ability to intervene in the mortal world or cross borders and kill other divine beings set in place due some past event? Or were these laws put up over time and for other reasons?

By restrictions, I meant acts like Desna killing of the demon Lord Aolar. Desna supposedly broke some laws or pacts to do so.

No restrictions. But if a deity does do something, then the other deities do something, and suddenly it's all out mayhem and the worlds end. So the deities all know that it's best not to do anything. The "laws" that keep deities from directly intervening are not written down or enforced by "deity police" as much as they are just the deities understanding that this is the way it is. Now and then, a deity does go against these laws and the results tend to be significant.

Is the war that had Rovagug sealed away and that other deities died in, an example of when such an understanding breaks down?

1. Ileosa would be the most pitiful final boss ever published by Paizo. She wasn't evil, but the evil blue dragon forcefully changed her alignment and gave her power. All her evil deeds, killing her husband and harassing people, wouldn't have happened if she didn't find the Crown of Fangs. Is there a way to free her from the influence of the crown and thus making her normal again? Then everyone will be happy, right? Maybe a greater restoration will do it?

2. Her original name was Ileosa Arvanxi. How should I pronounce it? Ar-vank-see? Ar-van-zee?

3. Will the citizens(including the nobility) of Korvosa know that Ileosa was somehow manipulated by some evil being? Or do they wrongly believe that Ileosa did all the bad things on her own will, not knowing her innocense at all unless the PCs bothered to tell them?

4. Can the PCs resurrect Ileosa? I ask this because I think giving back the throne ot the original, not evil Ileosa seems to be a good idea but I'm not sure if a devil-bound person can be resurrected or not.

5. Is Abrogail II immortal? I ask this question because, she made a compact with Asmodeus, selling the soul of Cheliax to Hell. So I suspect if Asmodeus granted her immortality(in other words, she won't grow old and will live forever unless killed by violent means). Is she? Also what about Abrogail I? And, Abrogail II is quite powerful considering her young age. Was she an adventurer before her coronation? Or she was just a normal NPC, and the compact with Asmodeus granted her power and she gained more levels?

6. What do you mean by selling the soul of Cheliax? Does that mean, all citizens of Cheliax are damned to Hell no matter what? How can a human sell other people's soul? I didn't know Asmodeus and Pharasma allow that kind of deal.

7. Barzillai Thrune made many proclamations once he started ruling Kintargo. But most of them are quite bizarre. Do not wear the embroidered clothing? Do not spill the grain? Do not imbibe of night tea? Do not eat mint? Nonnative ships' captains do not set foot on land within Kintargo? What was he thinking? Is he out of his mind? His job is preventing a rebellion, but his very actions trigggered it. Why is he doing this? Is it because he's so stupid that he really thought harassing people and bossing arond would coerce people into submission? Or because he's so cruel that he loves harassing people? Or because Abrogail herself ordered him strictly to harass Kintargans because she hates them and she loves harassing people? Or because he was actually not loyal to Abrogail and wanted to inspire a rebellion to topple the current regime?

8. It's implied that Asmodeus himself knew the loophole of the Kintargo Contract but didn't pointed it out. Why didn't he? Is it because he found Abrogail's trick interesting and wanted to see what would happen because of this loophole?

9. Is Asmodeus the major god of Cheliax? I mean, of course many nobles and the king worship Asmodeus, but do the majority of its commoners and nobility worship the Prince of Darkness, or they worship other gods like Abadar, Iomedae, or Desna and secretely despise Asmodeus? If the latter is the case, then there surely be many supporters of the Glorious Reclamation, right?

10. You said that the Glorious Reclamation chose the wrong time to attack Cheliax because now is the time to concentrate the force of Iomedaeans to the Worldwound. But assuming the Wrath of Righteous happened, there's no need to worry because Deskari is dead and the Worldwound is closed. And the remaining demons cannot pose a serious threat any longer and thus can be dealt with later. Doesn't that make it a good time to concentrate the force of good to cheliax instead?

11. It seems that Cheliax and the Hellknights are best friends. So didn't Cheliax try to help the Order of the Godclaw when the Iomedaeans attacked Citadel Dinyar? Or at least warn them not to attack the Hellknights?

12. I'm really surprised when reading Wrath of Thrune. The page 70 of that book said that Aspex the Even-Tongued wanted to cede the throne to Alivia Thrune but she refused, and it was because of her superior strategy that the Chelish War of Independence succeeded at all. It's actually hard to believe. If Aspex wanted to marry Alivia, that would be reasonable. But ceding the throne to her? If it's true, that means Alivia was the epitome of humanity and everybody liked her very much. I didn't know the ancestor of House Thrune was so good and righteous. And considering Aspex wanted to cede the throne to her, it seems that the rulership of Thrune is very just and righteous after all, right?

13. The book also said that Alivia received aids from devils she bound to her service. Does that mean, Abrogail I was not the first Thrune who worshiped Asmodeus, right? It was Alivia who started the Thrune tradition of devil-worship? I'm really surprised such a nobe and glorious person can worship Asmodeus.

With the Crimson Throne campaign on our doorsteps, I wanted to go a bit further for my players with this one and start a wiki for relevant lore, NPCs, pictures from the book, and so on.

My question to you is there anything I would not be allowed to put on this wiki without Paizo sending it's finest contract devils on my penniless butt? The wiki I'm has absolutely no advertising of any kind so I'm not profiting in any way at all, and it's exclusively for the recreational home use of my players and I.

1) Nope. She wasn't made evil by the crown. The crown gave her the power to ACT on her evil.

2) ar-VANKS-ee

3) Only if the PCs reveal that information once they learn it during the course of the Adventure.

4) Her contract with the devil means her soul is not available for resurrection; if the PCs want to do this, they'll need to first work out a way to void the contract.

5) I've not yet read Hell's Vengeance (I'm actually playing through it, so I'm trying to avoid too many spoilers), so I'm not 100% up to speed on what we've said most recently about the Thrunies, in particular how immortal Abrogail is. You should check out Hell's Vengeance (particularly part 4, I believe) and the Cheliax book for more info about her.

6) It was metaphorical, not literal.

8) Because he was impressed with the trickiness of the loophole and was curious to find out if any of the silly mortals would figure it out. It also gave him a good way to test the intelligence and loyalty of Thrune, to see if either they figured the loophole out on their own or, once they realized what it meant, to find out if they were truly loyal enough to play by the rules of the contract even when it didn't do something they wanted.

9) He's the official deity of Cheliax, yes. Most of Cheliax gives him lip service. Some of them worship other deities, but most of them know better than to worship anyone but Asmodeus openly. There are indeed many who secretly despise him, and that's what allows the Glorious Reclamation or the Silver Ravens to be as successful as they are.

10) We don't assume that Wrath happened. If we did, we might have set up Hell's Vengeance so the PCs played as allies of the Glorious Reclamation. We did not want to tell that story, so we don't assume that Wrath happened. If you want to assume Wrath happened in your game and want to make the Glorious Reclamation more powerful, feel free to do so, but that likely won't be a fun game to play for your players.

11) Cheliax and the Hellknights aren't best friends. The Hellknights are mercenary orders. Some of those orders are allied with Thrune (such as the Order of the Rack); some are allied against Thrune (such as the Order of the Torrent) and some are neutral with regards to Thrune. Thrune didn't warn or help the Order of the Godclaw because they didn't realize that the attack was coming, and had no reason to come to the Godclaw's aid at the time.

12) I haven't read Wrath of Thrune, but obviously the author and Rob (the developer) feel differently than you. You do seem to approach all the plots in adventures from the standpoint of an all-knowing omniscient reader; remember, the characters in the adventure are not all equally smart, and none of them have READ the adventure, since they're in it. They don't have the advantage you have of being able to read every book we publish.

13) Dunno. Again, I haven't read that book. Can't help you. Ask Rob, I guess.

Would demon fighting other demons use cold iron or would it avoid using a weapon like that as it may harm them? How about other fiends fighting things that it shares a weakness with?

A demon capable of wielding cold iron weapons could very well use this tactic against other demons.

I have an evil NPC that I'm giving cloak of chaos in the form of a literal magic item that grants cloak of chaos, but I'm a little stuck on what it should be made of/what appearance it ought to take. My first thoughts were demonhide, or, along similar lines, the flesh of proteans or azata, but I'm trying to think of other appropriate options and possibilities. What would you, as a player, find cool if such an item was in your loot pool?

Depends entirely on the NPC's theme, but the basic one I think of would be a cloak made of animated, screaming faces that burns with black fire.

11) I'm starting to kinda sorta understand the dynamic between the Hellknights and Thrune. I get they are mercenaries, but they have history with the country of Cheliax. The first order appears to have been created in 4576 AR, so not that long ago. In contrast, Cheliax was still awaiting the coming of Aroden in 4606 AR. Why did the Hellknights come about before Cheliax 'gave up' on Aroden so to speak?

Also, while I am kinda sorta starting to get the Hellknights' dynamic with House Thrune, what is their dynamic/rapport with the Church of Asmodeus?

In Pathfinder, dragons are really set up as dragons, not humans with wings and scales.
Being of mere human intelligence, how do you do so? How do you avoid casting them as winged scaled humans with a lust for gold and the occasional virgin?

We've used dragons a number of times in our products. Check those products out for examples of how we use them.

Would demon fighting other demons use cold iron or would it avoid using a weapon like that as it may harm them? How about other fiends fighting things that it shares a weakness with?
A demon capable of wielding cold iron weapons could very well use this tactic against other demons.
Did you know that in White Wolf's Werewolf, Garou (the lupus' name for themselves) would frequently duel with silver weapons?

I did not.

7) It has been said that Brazillai was somewhat undesired by the rest of the Thrunes and it fits their agenda to have him apply for the far-flung posting of Kintargo. Does Brazillai have a clear awareness of his family's disdain for him, and if so, wouldn't that make sense for him to incite some kind of revolt so that Kintargo breaks off from Cheliax, to spite his family and perhaps position himself later as the ruler of an independent city state?

10) Could you give yay or nay for each AP in terms of if they have been considered to happen or not? 7) He knows his family hates him. Part of why he does what he does is because of that knowledge. He doesn't want to incite a revolt, though, because he worries that would attract Thrune's attention. He WANTS to be left alone by his family in order to pull off his plans.

10) None of them have been considered to happen until you play them in your game. You can play them in any order you want.

11) Read "Path of the Hellknight" for the full scoop on how they work.

Right, so, creepy questions incoming.

1. Is incest considered Evil in Pathfinder?
2. How does Shelyn consider incestuous relationships bad, if not exactly Evil, even if the relationship is loving and relatively healthy in all other aspects?

1) It's certainly chaotic and sinful, but it's not evil.

2) She considers them sinful and chaotic, and since incest tends to result in all sorts of birth complications, it's cruel to the unborn child. I wouldn't any sort of incest any level of "Healthy" in any event.

No. Also, Yoda is goofy.

How does the Charge Through feat and the rage power Overbearing Onslaught interact?

Charge Through (Combat): When making a charge, you can attempt to overrun one creature in the path of the charge as a free action. If you successfully overrun that creature, you can complete the charge. If the overrun is unsuccessful, the charge ends in the space directly in front of that creature.

Overbearing Onslaught (Ex): While raging, the barbarian may overrun more than one target per round, with a –2 penalty on her CMB for each overrun check after the first.

I'm of the opinion that a Barbarian with that rage power would be able to charge one opponent and overrun multiple people in the way of his target since the rage power modifies the number of possible overrun attempts.

Good question for the rules team to answer; re-post this question where they'll notice it in one of the rules forums.

Because "sin" and "evil" are not synonyms.

Would I be correct in assuming that elf siege warfare is less "catapults and camps" and more "let's use magic to turn their walls into mud or just toss fireballs over them, or simply wait for the human defenders to die of old age and the walls just erode," right?

Yes.

Doesn't the presence of magic pretty much eliminate the concept of siege warfare that we think of historically? Razmir conquered at least one city in a night, and magic is a thing for just about any nation that's going to war. Would that not impact most of the things that would make a siege prolonged?

Cheers.

I'm quite envious. Most people I know have no idea what it even is.
