This thread made by Dabbler spawned this thread which was made to get an answer to a general question .
The issue is that the 2nd thread was seen as a veiled attempt to counter the first thread. With that out of the way I hope all correspondence for the 2nd thread will end up here.

3. Danger here. You can react in two basic ways when you are criticized. A) You can dismiss the criticism as unjustified and keep doing what you are doing. B) You can examine your own actions, trying to look at them from the perspective of others and open to the idea that, intentionally or unintentionally, you may have given offense and might want to consider a course correction. Which way do you believe is the path of wisdom?
I think it depends on the situation. I go back to the correcting facts versus correcting opinions situation for this. If I offend your ideals I may need to step back. If you are offended by facts you are simply beyond my help. That may not be true, but I am tired of trying to convince anyone that gets mad at the truth of anything.
Maybe someone with more patience than myself need to handle the issue though.

Dabbler is a very active poster/contributor on the Dreamscarred Press Psionics forums (and an active friend of Psionics here as well).
He is trying to ascertain what folks issues with psionics are and have all the responses in one thread (without pro-psionics arguments in between) for ease of reference.
If I were a developer working on Pathfinderizing the 3.x Psionics classes to hopefully make psionics appeal to more people, having a thread of that sort would be immensely helpful.

Where do I find the thread that explains the point of this thread, and what should I post there when I find it?
The first posts has two links.

You can copy and paste the urls or click the blue letters in the first post.

Good enough. I just recommend that you be careful what you label fact and what you label opinion. The two are constantly confused in these threads, usually because a lot of people seem to believe their opinions are facts. For example, a bald statement that X spell is "broken" is an opinion. Pointing out that it does X more damage than Y spell of the same level, with no chance to save, is a fact. One can be argued by honest men all day long. The other can not. Precision in how you use the words fact and opinion is conducive to healthy debate. Emotional confusing of the two is not.

I will go through that 800 post monster and get the points myself if I can avoid another psionics thread. Dabbler gets his points for free, and someone somewhere will be happy. Give me until Tuesday.

I stated that for the purpose of my post only things that can be proven(rules) are facts. :)

I'm curious though. So now that we have the attention of those who do like psionics, let me ask this question:
What is the purpose of the 3e psionic system? What is it trying to accomplish?
Also, what is it you like about it? Is it the system itself? The concept of psionics? (what /is/ the concept of psionics, anyway?) Both?

I have only played 3.5 psionics. It's pretty simple to understand, and easy to deal with. Use power points (mana) is an incredibly easy way of using a spell/power system. For people who like resource management, this is much more detailed than other spell systems.
I like the fluff of psionics for the simple doing things with your mind is cool. I find the fluff of a sorcerer appealing as well. It's like you're born special and have the powers to back it up. Why train and be good when you're gifted?

I don't think there is a "purpose" per se. Psionics does mark a fairly new branch of fantasy fiction in graphic novels such as "A Distant Soil" and the Deryni series by Katherine Kurtz. It's not surprising that with the relative popularity in these works that some effort would be made to incorporate these concepts in The World's Oldest Roleplaying Game, or it's direct descendants.

How about you stop flooding the message boards with psionics threads? Want to know the biggest reason I don't like psionics? It's people who think that if they just create a big enough scene everyone else will start agreeing with them.

Flood?
1. I only have one psionics thread, this one. Before you try to count the other one as a psionics thread read it at face value. If you wish to read between the lines that are not there I can't do anything about that.2. Once I gather the information for him I was going to put it in his thread, not create another one.
Making a scene and trying to connect it with agreeing does not make sense. You want to explain to me how that combo is supposed to work?

Even to a casual observer, like myself, it seemed pretty obvious what your objective was. I strongly suggest you step away for a bit while it remains your choice.
