CUP Questions

Paizo General Discussion

I have a couple of questions regarding the Community Use Policy:

The CUP states "You may use the cover images, as displayed on paizo.com, of all of the products on our Community Use Approved Product List at paizo.com/communityuse/products."

1.) Does this apply to the photographic images of miniatures on the APL?

2.) Does this apply only to the currently available cover? Are licensees responsible to keep up with changes to cover images?

3.) It seems that the APL is meant to cover all Pathfinder product lines. Currently there seem to be some products not listed that have been released (the Grandmaster Torch mini for example). Does Paizo plan to keep the list up to date as new products are announced/released?

Similarly, does today's blog picture of the Varian Jeggare mini count as 1)"You may use any of the text or artwork published in the Paizo Blog"
or
2) " You may not use any photographs published in the blog (because those rights are usually not ours to offer)."

Hmm. That's an excellent question—I'll see what I can do.

We'd certainly prefer you use the final covers wherever possible, but we also recognize that that's not necessarily easy to accomplish in every circumstance. We're certainly not going to make a fuss over Community Use projects that might have mockup images.

We do, and it's mostly automated... but every now and then, we'll miss things, and products outside the norm, like the PaizoCon mini, are more likely to be missed. If you see things that you think should be on the list that aren't, let me know! (I've just made sure all of the Pathfinder Minis are on the list.)

The second one.

Mission accomplished. Paizo and Reaper are both happy to allow the photos of the Pathfinder Miniatures to be used under the Community Use Policy. Please go ahead and treat them as "cover images" for the purposes of the CUP.

That's great news. Thanks for the quick follow-up Vic.
