Who Is Your Favorite Artist?

Paizo General Discussion

After reading a number of RPG forums, it seems that the shift in art style between 3.5 to 3.75/4.00 has pleased more people than it has disappointed. I am one of the people it has pleased :D But I don't know many fantasy artists, and I thought I'd plunder these boards for references.

Who is your favorite fantasy artist? Whose art would you like to see included in future Pathfinder products?

Personally, I love Wayne Reynolds and I wouldn't change a thing. But maybe I'm just ignorant?

Liberty's Edge

Even though Wayne's occasional representations of alien Merisiel bug me, some of his renditions entirely rock. My favorite is the Dungeon #150 cover of Demogorgon.

Hey, I thought Lem was the alien! He has a certain unmistakeable "E.T." look about him, IMO.

Jason Rainville, Arthur Wang, and Hugo Solis,

for Cartography I love Jonathan Roberts

Sovereign Court

-Steve Prescott
-Eva Widerman
-Eric Belisle did some great stuff in Kingmaker.
-Andrew Hou

Ooooh I like Eva Widerman's stuff a lot. Andrew Hou's work is rad, too.

NCsoft gets a lot of great artists. What do you guys think of Rich Anderson? They had a lead artist I really liked (don't know if he's still there), but I've forgotten his name... It's too bad I can't palate their games :(

For maps
...I don't think I can recall taking notice of mapmakers' names until I started buying Paizo-products, but they've been pretty universally good.

And what am I, Steve? Chopped artist liver? :P

I kid, obviously. All three are mighty fine, and actual artists. I just vomit up crude doodles for money. :P

I'm in love with the work of Wayne Reynolds, Eva Widermann, and Peter Bergting; in each case I saw one piece and fell in love with work I could never match (though doing the Pathfinder Iconics Minis set has taught me that Wayne LOVES characters with lots of baubles, so I'm learning to compete in bauble addition). I've also got a soft spot for William O'Connor and my buddy Michael Jaecks, who is underutilized and needs to make art monies so he can continue his odd hobby of making strange Plamobil dioramas.

Pre-3.X, it was all about Tony DiTerlizzi, and outside of stuff that appears in sourcebooks, I'm married to Phil Foglio, Kyle Hunter and Tony Mosely on the Astral Plane.

I can also state that Wayne Reynolds is either incredibly nice, or too polite and British to tell people to bugger off, and Eva Widermann makes drawing on balloons fun again.
