You know I noticed some thing in the Pathfinder splats

Lost Omens Products

the pathfinder setting book mentions a Holy Citadel of Light and the Cities of Golarion ommits it,
So I am womdering was it forgotten to be marked on the Vigil map page, or was it just renamed to the Cathderal of Sancta Iomedaea??

Sometimes, authors (and us here at Paizo) don't remember ALL of the things we mention in earlier books. It's unfortunate, but it happens. We expect and hope that our authors research existing material about topics they're assigned to write, and even before that we try to provide them with guidance about what to write about, but sometimes, some things slip through the cracks. Or perhaps the author DID intend to write about it but then realized he couldn't due to wordcount limitations. And it's certainly possible that the Cathedral and the Holy Citadel ARE, essentially, the same location.

In any event, "Cities of Golarion" wasn't one that I worked closely with so I can't say for sure what happened. My suggestion would be to treat the Holy Citadel and the Cathedral as the same location, only using the Cathedral's name as the more "proper" name the church uses, and "Holy Citadel of Light" as the one the commonfolk use.

unfortunately, I'm at home, so can't look into this right now, what page was the entry in the campaign setting? I'll look when i get home, it might have been renamed or a nickname used in Cities

As one of the developers for that book, the answer is that Vigil itself is sometimes referred to as the Citadel of Light by folks, as sort of a title ("Vigil, Holy Citadel of Light"). That includes both the cathedral where folks go to get anointed and Castle Overwatch/the War College where they learn the finer arts of battle. In looking through the book again, it appears that tidbit somehow got left out. Sorry about that!

Also, for future reference, the thing about questions posted on Saturdays is that sometimes we go home on the weekends, too. :D

Shouldn't there be at least some form of punishment?

Seriously? 8pm (Paizo local time) to midnight on a Saturday? Unreasonable much?

In fairness, that was during the annual Paizo staff summer party, so we really should have been on the ball. :)

+1.

The title of the thread is pretty vague, as well, and isn't going to necessarily attract a lot of attention from someone who is just glancing at what's going on on the boards over the weekend. Perhaps a more specific subject (like "Naming consistency in Vigil") would get an answer from a helpful fan or busy developer in a quicker timeframe.

Hey, the developers knew they weren't allowed to do anything that wasn't related to making the game and answering vague questions at odd hours when they took the job.

I think that was a 1e reference.

Also, not all of the Paizo staff have unique avatars...

Yeah, old 1E PH.

But on further consideration, that must be the new statue after they stole the right eye from the old statue. :)

I suggest they make him shave his head for the next 6 months so he will be constantly reminded of his shame.

Ah yes, drunken "official" posting. No way that could go wrong! :)

You guys should. Sometimes you see a post and are like "awesome, Sean commented!" only to realize it's ButtMuncher103.

Yeah, I had to question that when I read it as well.

Splats have a pretty negative conotation. Paizo does not produce "splats"!

According to a recent post by Lisa Stevens, all the Paizo staff apparently WILL have unique avatars soon for exactly that reason ...

I thought that guy had been perma-banned.

I like Sean as a person, and a 'friend', but he and I are about as diametrically opposed on the moral and political sphere as you can get. Having to even read some of my comments likely isn't good for his blood pressure. :-)

Yup; by the end of the year, we'll all have custom avatars.

Yeah, and then there's the times you reply "You know nothing, ButtMuncher" ... and then realise ... ;)
