Paizo,
No pressure, because I know the Paizo staff is busy as Hells with PaizoCon and GenCon prep, but I saw that you'll have the first SSAP adventure available at GenCon. When do you plan to release the Player's Guide for general consumption? I'm excited to see (and run) this adventure, and want to dig in as soon as possible... :)
Thanks!

Paizo staff have stated that the Serpent's Skull Player's Guide will be made available as soon as Pathfinder #37 is available, i.e. probably the first day of Gencon.
Rock on! I was hoping it would be out a bit ahead of the adventure release, so that we can start generating characters, etc. No worries, though - its only about a month...

Is it possible to release the PG a few weeks earlier? I mean, if it's ready to go why not make it available? I think it would be a nice marketing tool for the new adventure path.
Plus, it would really help out our gaming group since we're more or less waiting for the AP to start our next campaign! ;-)

It's not possible.
The Serpent's Skull Player's Guide is not even done yet, and needs to go through a relatively heavy/major rewrite to sync it up with the campaign (it was originally written before the first adventure was written, by someone who didn't have access to how that first adventure was using the guide). At this point, getting the Player's Guide for Serpent's Skull ready is looking like it's going to be down to the wire, and thus, probably won't be out until the last possible minute.

I'm fine with the wait to get the PG to synch up exactly to what's really in the AP.
I'm pretty annoyed overall with seeing story threads/NPCs/etc mentioned as being important in an earlier AP volume and then dropped because things 'went in a different direction', carelessness, or overwork.
Anything to match things up far better is appreciated - even if I have to wait.

Take your time. I'd rather wait a few extra days/weeks for a well-made game with a plot that makes sense than get a slap-dash game right now.
So to speak.

I am so on board this campaign getting on my shelf.

I just received my "shipping in a week or so" email yesterday! Yay!
Any chance the players guide will be available the same day we adventure path subscribers receive the PDF for Smuggler's Shiv?
The Player's Guide is still in development and in writing. We're HOPING to get it live by the time we leave for Gen Con, but it MIGHT not go live until after we get back. Which would be really annoying.
If we can get it polished up and in good shape before we leave for Gen Con, we might be able to get it out earlier, but I'm not foolish enough to make promises of actual dates.

Thanks for keeping us up to date, James. I know this is a busy time for everyone there with Gen Con coming up and all. Its understandable if its late.
I should point out that if it comes out during Gen Con, it's actually not late at all; it's precisely on time. And that's what we're aiming for, and I'm pretty confident we'll hit that date. It's this "letting it out early" business that's sketchy, is all! :-P

I'd like to echo CapeCod's sentiment. Thank you, James! Your candor and willingness to keep us in the loop during one of your busiest times of the year make me proud to be a Paizo subscriber.

Is it "okay" to cross fingers on hitting the deadline on this?

So any word on when this will be available?
I think it's been up at least a week.
