Favorite Scenario So Far

GM Discussion

Dark Archive

I'm going to run one of my gaming groups through Pathfinder later this year summer (homegame, not Society). Which scenario(s) is/are your favorite(s) and why (please use SPOILER tags if necessary)?

Oh! And PCs will be level three.

Thanx in advance!

The Exchange 5/5

Mine depends on what Season you're wanting to run,

Season 0 - Mists of Mwangi -- it's a short quick and to the point kind of mod and since it is quick can easily run the sequal Voice in the Void from Season 1 right after it.

I also like Black Waters just for the beginning scene with the father

Dark Archive

I also liked Black Waters, but I think the most fun so far are the Devil We Know series.

I had the most fun writing #51 and #52 and then had an absolute blast running #51 in Denmark. I also enjoy running Pallid Plague and #29.

Thanx, Thea. I'll check them both out.

I've ran a couple of the Devil We Know scenarios. Good stuff. Heart the investigation part. I'll look it over again as well as Black Waters.

51 & 52 are the latest ones, right, Josh? I'll download them and check them out. Thanks!

The Exchange 5/5

They are the lastest that are levels 1-7

Mists of Mwangi is hands down my favorite to run, especially at the lower levels. Voice in the Void makes a good follow up, since it was written to be a "spiritual sequel." And any of the Grandmaster Torch scenarios (Silent Tide, Many Fortunes of Grandmaster Torch, and Delirium's Tangle) make for fun play with a memorable NPC (though placing them staggered and scattered between other scenarios makes it seem more cohesive).

Hope this helps. I'll have to let you know my impressions on Among the Dead after this weekend.

Pallid Plague rocks the boat.

Silent Tide was one of my first PFS scenarios as a player. Fun, fun.

Re: Among the Dead. Yes, please, let me know how it goes. Thanks!

The Exchange 5/5

I've run Mists of Mwangi 13 times and it's still one of my favorite scenarios to introduce PFS to new players. Frozen Fingers of Midnight is another one that's near to my heart. I think Citadel of Flame is excellent also.

Grand Lodge 3/5

I have to say that I like the Devil You Know series the best. I also have much love for Silent Tide.

Then again, I've really liked most of them.

Frozen was a fun one, so much so I tranlocated into Savage Worlds into an Arabian Nights-esque one-shot! ^_^

I have played #49 Among the Dead and ran it twice it is a great mod at the 2 lower teirs. I found it a little too easy at 6-7.

Without giving any thing away magic trumps the oh crap factor at 6-7.

What an endorsement!

Full disclosure:

It's one of my favorites as well, though #47: The Darkest Vengeance might be a bit higher on my list.

I have always believed that rocking the boat was bad, and comes right before a tragic end ;)

Aww...you say that about all the PFS adventures you wrote.

I think my favorite adventures to run are between #40 Hall of Drunken Heroes, and #44 The Terror at Whistledown. It's hard to decide what's more fun, acting up the g-nomes of Whistledown or playing Xersus the facial pausly stricken demonologist. :D

he's a Barge Union member, he's used to that.

The Exchange 2/5

Speaking of 'Rocking the Boat', Hydra's Fang was pretty darn fun to run.

Liberty's Edge 5/5

Lyrics of Extinction was excellent as was the Eternal Obelisk, too bad it is retired.

Liberty's Edge 3/5

So far, from a player's perspective, I've enjoyed #12 Stay of Execution the most. I'm not really sure why that is so, but it seemed to hit all the right notes in terms of roleplaying and combat.

From a GM's perspective, it's more difficult to say. I'm running #59 and #60 at Gencon several times -- so I hope by the end of my eigth slot I will have come to like both of them a lot.

Speaking of which Josh: *ahem* getting the Gencon PFSS modules out to GMs, exceedingly soon would be a Very Good Thing™. Many of us have special map prep work to deal with in advance, scenarios to read and re-read (and re-read again) to otherwise get our ducks lined up for Gencon.

Please and thank-you, of course :)

1/5

I really enjoyed #39 The Citadel of Flame. The series of encounters with Gali are a lot of fun on both sides of the screen, though a bit more-so for the GM.

I also had a lot of fun running Voice in the Void, though I will be having my first session with Mist of Mwangi this weekend, and I'm looking forward to that a bunch as well.

Retired? You just mean from official play, correct?

Scarab Sages 3/5

My favorite would have to be #10 Blood at Dralkard Manor

Liberty's Edge 4/5

I liked playing Pallid Plague which I picked up at GenCon and wouldn't mind running it for a group.

I like running #13 (the name escapes me now) and #17 the Perils of the Pirate Pact.

I've had some fun GMing Society, but never as much fun as running 2-13 Murder on the Throaty Mermaid.

A real who dunnit designed for multiple possibilities for the murderer. More Roleplaying than combat.

My players had a blast and I got some solid roleplaying out of some gamers that normally wallflowered until combat.

Nice to hear that's a fun one. I'm running it next week for my work group.

So far I would say Midnight Mauler was my favorite. Nice mix of RP and Action. RP aspect of Murder on the Throaty Mermaid was awesome as well.

Spoiler:
I must say I had a great time on Shades of Ice part 2 and 3, didn't get to play part one. A lot of people didn't like part three, however I had a DM that made that module very challenging, I never feared for my character's life until that module. lol

2/5 *

I was going to start a new thread closer to Gencon, for everyone's new experiences, but here we go.

Definitely "Murder on the Throaty Mermaid" for me. So much fun, it's basically the reason I roleplay. Times like that make it worthwhile.

Although I haven't run it yet, I know that I'll rock "The Darkest Vengeance", it fits my storytelling style perfectly.

*casts Raise Dead*

My favorite is one I ran a few months ago and played in this past week and that is

Frostfur Captives:

When the party got to the towers, the bard cast sleep on one tower, and the barbarian said to the goblins "Make sure they are dead" so the "captives" charged the one tower, and to make it obvious what the Frostfurs were doing I told them they heard the goblins saying "One...Two...Three" then a sleeping goblin came flying over the battlements. The second hit the battlements and woke up, and preceded to beg for his life, which the party spared and took him captive. The party then continued on with an extra goblin letting all of them know that Absalom was a magical city where the sewers were overflowing with "rats and kindling." When they got to the rendezvous the other party said "wait you were supposed to have 5 (the party size) goblins, why are there 6?" The barbarian responded by saying "Do you know how fast goblins breed?"

3/5

Requiem For the Red Raven, hands down.

Second place is The Dalsine Affair.

Not including eyes of the ten, which beats everything if counted together. Below the Silver Tarn. Very evocative feel and some non standard encounters to make people think outside the box.

Dark Archive 4/5

Traitor's Lodge, Followed by Hall of Drunken Heroes, then Haunting of Hinojai.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment is just all-around fantastic.

If you're looking for something a little more horror focused, Voice in the Void rocks.

For just silly fun, you can't go wrong with Severing Ties.

Liberty's Edge 1/5

I love Rise of the Goblin Guild. Much fun to role play.

Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/5

'The Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment' is great.

'We Be Goblins!' (although strictly speaking it's not a scenario).

1/5

Below the Silver Tarn is really good :)
