When it comes to lamps and lanterns, I assume any can be extinguished by water expect for the waterproof lantern? The descriptions do not specify other than the waterproof one.

Here's a way to get there: Weather

Specifically on this page:

During a rainstorm, the wind increases such that it reduces visibility by three-quarters, resulting in a -8 penalty on Perception checks; these storms also render ranged weapon attacks impossible (with the exception of siege weapons, which take a -4 penalty on attack rolls), automatically extinguish unprotected flames and have a 50% chance to extinguish protected flames (such as from lanterns).

So from this we glean that PF1 considers Lanterns to be "protected flames" while in other sections it gives examples of "unprotected flames" to be candles, lamps, torches or even bonfires, among others. If an environmental or spell effect has the potential to extinguish unprotected flames, any kind of lantern is ok. If an effect would extinguish protected flames, lanterns are sol.

The reason you get a waterproof lantern is to reduce the effect of the potential for winds to extinguish their flames and for 5 rounds of light when completely immersed in water (which, presumably no other lantern could then manage).

Thanks for link.

I had no idea a simple rainstorm had the ability to completely lockdown an archer build...

PC: I unleash 8 arrows of super damage and destruction, with my +100 to hit, I can't miss, that'll be 975 damage.

GM: You're in a rainstorm, remember?
Your arrows fall to the ground harmlessly.

PC: Uhhh--Whuu...
