We did go to Pisa yesterday, and I'm glad we did. The trip was a lot more laid-back than the trip to Siena. The weather was beautiful and the leaning tower was... well... leaning. Their cathedral is also incredible.

Then we came back and did more wandering around Florence.

At long last, here are the photos of that game store in Pescara. There's the facade, the big dragon maw that you walk through to get to their gaming tables, and two 4e books in Italian translation: the Player's Handbook 1 and 3, and "Sottosuolo" (Underdark). For some reason "Sottosuolo" amused me. I think it was the Italian title on a book with a big mindflayer on the cover.

The interior pictures are a bit shaky because the light wasn't so good, but it's enough to get an idea.

(The photobucket page also has my old "not a sockpuppet" picture, if you're wondering why that's there.)

Morning everyone.

@CH: Good to see you are still having fun in Italy.

Time to do some fun Monday stuff. Looks like a nice day here at New England's premier resort destination. Hopefully the tourists are still snoozing. Ciao

Morning, all. What did I miss?

Edit: Woot! TOTP!

Well, Scott was relieved to find that Brian had kept his promise to submit, by Friday, a proposal to use genetically-spliced, radioactive frog-kangaroo hybrids for special research situations. Meanwhile, Jim surprised everyone by actually showing up in the office for the third Monday in a row. And, across town, Harry and Bob decided that pizza was the best food to use for luring.....No, wait! That's my soap opera!

Morning Patrick! And it's looking to be a good morning so far! The proposal I was hoping for actually came through on Friday, so I can show my boss and he can be happy with me! If the proposal goes through and we get funding for it, then I may be going to Japan in September!WOOT!!!

Good morning, Fawtlizens! I hope the week beckons to you with promise.

Well, I'll probably be scarce today. The nephews are coming over. Will they investigate the big hole in the ground that the dead bulette made? What will they make of the kobold corpses? Will they descend into the hole and find the mineshaft? Will they follow it back to the Mines of the Kobold Cabal? Will they turn from there to the surviving beasts of the Circus Ludi? Or the Warrens of the Beastmen? Can they find sanctuary in the Hidden Halls of the Dwarf Wardens? Or will they be consumed by the Ghouls of the Hellfire Hedonium? Or perhaps they will descend lower to where the kobolds get fiercer and greener and...oh, I've said too much. The dungeon(s) await!

Goooooooooooooooooooooood morning Fawlt-Force-Five!!!!

Man. I am beat after this weekend. Saturday was a birthday party spent at a friend's house who lacked an air conditioner in 100 degree heat, Sunday was lunch with my wife and my mom and a family friend that we had not seen in some time. It was frustrating at first glance, but looking back on it all, we did not spend a single moment indoors, which was good. And we got gelato and some scicilian pies from L&B's Spumoni Gardens, which helped a great deal.

Of course, this is the week I take off for Otakon and SC. I can't hardly wait to be on the first vacation I've been on since...well, I can't quite remember the last one. I've got a face full of goatee to pull off the Dutch outfit for the con, so I'm looking forward to cosplaying as well. I'm also printing out my plane stuff for the SC and back to NY portion of the trip today. I'm frakking excited, and I can't wait to be en route.

That's about it for me though...I was actually too busy to have any adventures or excursions or anything like that. As mildly boring as this weekend was, I'm hoping the next one will be blissfully exciting.

Question of the moment: Why isn't there a Fawlty-mod for Castle Crashers? If your icon was one of the little familiars you could get in that game, what would it do? I think mine should make entertaining and lecherous illusions that attack people on screen when you do magic. Also, true to my status as a luddite, the only weapons melee weapon you would be able to use is a stick, and your only ranged weapon would be a rock. Also, you could hit people with a palm pilot on occasion.

Just so people don't get too worried about me...

I'm busy today. (After this I really shouldn't check the boards again.) And then I'm on vacation for a week. Have fun all...

Insufficient sleep last night. Had a 2-hour nap from 10 to 12, then woke up ever 30 to 45 minutes until I finally gave up at 0430.

Even partial insomnia sucks...I don't know how real insomnia sufferers survive.

Regardless, the fact is: I need a less stressful job.

I made the mistake of touring the tower with a wretched hangover. I don't recommend the experience. I chose poorly.

I'm glad you're having fun!
