STEW!

Actually, we're having stew for dinner.

Well, we're actually having red curried beef, but we're kind of cooking it like a stew. It's so hard to get stew beef to come out tender.

I've used this for roasts in the crock pot, not stew, but a shot of whiskey with beef makes it come out super tender, and the alcohol burns off. Fall apart on the plate tender.

How can I hurt so bad after taking so much Motrin?

Very sorry. ::Hugs::

What's Motrin? Naproxen?

Ibuprofen, which usually works well. I'll stop and get Aleve on the way home. Maybe taking both will help.

What's going on?

I dunno. I get this weirdness every once in a while wherein everything hurts. My bloodwork will come out wacky but not in accordance with any standard diagnostic profiles. A rheumatologist said I was better off without any diagnosis as long as the pain is controllable with OTC meds. But when it flares like this, it's nasty. Acetaminophen doesn't usually do much for me, but it's worth a try.

I hope you feel better soon.

Not in this thread...as far as I know...

"podt" was supposed to be "post".

Maybe I misread/misunderstood but after reading BT's post, I went to the OTD page, saw that you (?) had the last post, returned to the thread to read it but it wasn't there. So, I made a post saying "ghost podt" (it was supposed to be "post" annd not "podt") to see what I missed. But, no missing SP post appeared.

I'm in a similar situation. I was supposed to pick up the girls from Scouts, but my wife is there with them and hasn't told me when she's coming home.

That whole stew thing may be postponed until tomorrow night.

I've used Jack Daniels in my pot roasts for years. So yummy!

It's just so obviously the wish-fulfillment mechanism. We SO wish women didn't think. I mean, some guys, some guys do.

Justin: I'm sure it wasn't the *same* email. ;-)
But just because I have an infinite thirst for knowledge, what's a beer trap?

Change of plan. Looks like pizza, tonight.

Also, I would just like to say that I don't understand girls. Even at 8 years old, their social interactions are far too complicated.

Pie for you.

Ah...beer and pie. You really can't go too far in building a trap to protect your beer and your pie.

OK, downed some Aleve and Tylenol on top of Motrin. Washed down with caffeine FTW. Let's see if it helps.

Thanks to everyone for advice and sympathy. 'Tis appreciated! *hugs*

Ugh...I didn't read through the entire thread but it sounds like you might have a migraine? Take care and I hope that helps.

I have always enjoyed Excedrin Extra Strength but I know that doesn't help everyone.

I heard this significant someone is an unmitigated ass and hasn't gotten what the other significant someone with the significant site needs to make magic happen.

Or are we talking about another significant someone? :)

According to the significant rumors I'm hearing, not unless your significant other has significant access to your modes of signification.

The wait is insignificant for something of this significance.

Well, that's the problem....

Spoiler:
Sarah's having real problems breast feeding. The hospital and her doctor promoted the hell out of it, but then didn't have a lactation expert on staff to help out in the hospital. So she would just get advice from whatever nurse was on duty, but they couldn't really sit down and work with her. There were a few successes in hospital, but not much.

We got him home and she hasn't had much success, which upsets both her and the baby (and daddy as well). So we've had to keep resorting to the pre-packaged bottles of formula from the hospital. We're finally out of those, and have to resort to regular formula.

We did go see a lactation expert today, and that went great, she was able to feed from both sides for about an hour. But we haven't been able to reproduce that at home, which once again got the wife real upset.

Tomorrow, I'm going to call my friend whose wife breast fed both of their kids, and see if she can't give Sarah so good tips, or even just moral support.

Spoiler:

Nursing problems are unfortunately common, especially with babies born by C-section. The lack of compression on the head means that there can be excess fluid stuck in their sinuses which makes sucking difficult. May be time to check with the pediatrician.
My son wasn't able to nurse at all. I pumped breast milk for him for the first month and let me tell you those middle of the night feedings when I was pumping as fast as I could while the baby was screaming were absolutely harrowing. Unfortunately my milk gave out from the stress before the pediatrician figured out that my son had a sinus infection. I was very stressed out and angry and disappointed at the time, but the truth is that while breast milk is great and all it's not a crime to give your child formula.
I'm guessing your wife is feeling pretty emotional and stressed out about now. I wish I had something really cool and insightful to say, but really all I can say is that it gets better. Whether Charlie is ever able to nurse or not. It's going to be okay. It sounds to me like you guys are being terrific, responsible parents and I wish you the best of luck in figuring things out.

Spoiler:
We had very similar problems with getting Jude to feed, in fact we had to had to finger feed him every 3 hours. Keep at he will get it eventually the important part is that he is eating. Also have her start pumping, so you can feed him that instead of the formula. And most imPortantly find time to get some sleep.

Agh! I don't know what's gotten into me. I usually love writing the character journals, but I'm getting all maudlin over this one. Probably cause it's the last one. And there's just so darn much to cover.

Although it does feel good to be doing something so frivolous for a change. :)
