Ahh... the joys of modern marvels.
So, because of the weather this morning, I wound up driving halfway to work (in about three times the time) before deciding to f$#+ it and turn around and work from home. No problem, since I can remote desktop to work and get everything I need.
The only thing I haven't been able to do (even in the office) is access some data and such due to permissions on my user account. Not a problem really, since the stuff isn't needed right away, but I'm working with our IT guy to fix it.
Then, at about 3:30, all my connections break. I figured he might have logged into my laptop to check some stuff, so I give him a call. Turns out he had to reset my user account to give me the permissions. The good part was he figured it would take a while to "push" the changes through the system, so I could sign off early.
The bad part is, I just checked a few minutes ago and the connection's still being refused. And with 6+ inches of snow (and growing) outside, I'm not sure if I'll make it in tomorrow either.
I'm beginning to have doubts about our IT. My first hint was actually the whole "Dreamweaver fiasco": They installed Dreamweaver CS3 for me for work. But they couldn't find the AuthCode for it, so I was on a trial basis. Two weeks and they finally get the code from my predecessor, but it says it's not valid when I enter it. We get a hold of my predecessor and it turns out he's using CS4, so IT guy tells me to download it and install it. Of course, the only place you can find CS4 anymore is on the torrents (which he knew). Now, the AuthCode works, but then it tells me that there's too many installations for it (predecessor still using it probably), so we're working on getting me a new code. And I got twenty days left on CS4's trial...

From what I've seen, (I'm not finished and haven't read exactly in order) Sandman varies according to volume. Also, recommend Marvel's 1602 and the fiction on his website. Very highly recommend "A Study in Emerald."

Of course I have a lot in common with Whedon fans!!!They are all bipedal, ape-descended or divine being-created creatures(possibly both), that are heavily reliant on a massive amount of internal organs wrapped in one MASSIVE exoskin with 4.75 openings for the consumption of nutrients and observation of/interaction with the enviornment.
See? Plenty in common!
Um ... please explain?

I also liked Neverwhere, and some of his short stories are very good (in some cases better than his novels / novellas imo).
Never have got around to reading the Sandman comics / graphic novels.

another session, another family member down, and the DM is getting way too much enjoyment out of this. The party is currently scrounging up diamonds to crush into dust for resurrection spells cause it just can't wait anymore. We're running out of people for the ritual. But we managed to come away from a close encounter with a deck of many things with very little truly bad happening to us. :)

Dang Ian Holm was in it? I don't remember. I must be losing my brains.....
Ian Holm will always be the android in Alien.
It's funny to me that you mention him -- not Bruce Willis, or Chris Tucker, or Gary Oldman or even Luke Perry (not sure how he got in the initial credits for that matter).

Well I remembered Bruce and Gary. And to be honest Chris's character annoyed me. I only liked him in the Rush Hour movies anyway. I just plum forgot about Ian.

In the meantime, it's now in version CS5. If there's one thing that annoys me about the larger corporations is their resistance to upgrades ... when they can easily afford it.
