~sighs~ I used to be good at algebra and trig... about 15 years ago. ~sighs again~ I guess the old saying is true. If you don't use it, you loose it. Oh well. Back to the algebra book. I figure I might as well (re)learn all the basics that I forgot (or never learned) before I head back into Calculus.

I still remember most of it, but don't get academic credit for any of it so I'm stuck taking about 5 more classes before I get to calculus. Which can be frustrating at times, but then there are others when I discover I have the damnedest gaps in my education. Like graphing. Which I somehow totally missed the first time through. I guess all the teachers thought that one of the others had covered that, it being so basic and all. How I passed trig is still a mystery. :)

~grins~ The funny thing is I am not in school, but I still want to (re)learn math and science from textbooks that I own. I eventually plan on teaching myself some advanced math as well as physics and chemistry (eventually) just because ***I*** want to know it.

all I remember was fx, f prime of x, and the hatred.

yeah, we're learning f(x) right now. Don't remember f prime of x. And surprisingly don't hate it any more. It all kinda makes sense. apparently I just wasn't insane enough the first time through. ;)

lynora wrote:

It's the derivative of the derivative of x. f(f(x)), to put it a different way.

I miss triple integrals and differential equations.

I miss triple integrals' mom.

Silver Crusade

I hated differential equations. See, I skipped a lot of calc 2, but somehow got a B anyway, but then when I got to DiffEq, I was f%~+ed. Got a 52 on the final, but the curve made that a C. Worst grade in college. But hey, then I was done with math.

Silver Crusade

So my partner was none too pleased with the aroma of my leek and potato soup. This had better be fantastic (won't know until tomorrow).

Why'd you take a leak in it?

Ah, thanks. Makes much more sense now.

I hope your soup turns out. Dinner disasters are always such a disappointment.

Ahh, better. Now, my cooling and soothing hatred of math continues.

Well, Ralph had to stretch the truth with Sue in order to keep from her the knowledge of an impending surprise mystery dinner birthday celebration. Across town, Dick and Tim decided not to tell Bruce about their mutual fondness for clowns. Meanwhile, Diana and Clark finally decided to give in to their shared desire for pie......No, wait! That's my soap opera.

The OTD boards are kind of quiet today.

Good morning - It looks like I was not destined to get any sleep this morning. Our 6 year old woke us up after having a nightmare at four o'clock then our 3 year old woke us up at a quarter past five demanding breakfast. Then the garbage trucks right on 6....

I warmed up a couple of old PIES, and am curious what folks think.

What exactly is in Steak and Kidney pie? I keep hearing it contains neither.

You don't want those old pies. Refreeze em and send em up to me and I'll take care of them for ya.

Probably lots of pot in it. It increases one's appetite. Or, so I've heard.
