Good morning FAWTLers, I hope everyone's weekend is going well. Just in case Urizen is still lurking on this thread, Happy Birthday to him.

My weekend has gone well. Friday night's Runelords game was exciting. We are getting near the end of book 2. I finally jumped on the Netflix band wagon and my wife and I are quickly making our way through all of the episodes of Babylon 5. We are just about finished with Season 2.

GOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOooD MORNING FAWLTY HOUSE!!!!

Been a while since I said that.

Today is Darklight Sisterhood game day in ADDITION to being Urizen's birthday apparently. HAPPY BIRTHDAY URIZEN!!!

Also d/ling Rome Total War onto the netbook so I can play it on the go. So far I have Icewind Dale 2 and Rome Total War on the netbook. If they put Baldur's Gate 1-3 up(and I have enough room for my romance packs), I'll be a happy man.

Can't wait to get the game started. I think I have this group's measure, finally, which was not easy to take. Still, it's worth it to see the looks on other gamers faces when I brag about my all girl game...

@Freehold: Do you play any mods of Rome Total War? I love modding that game.

Here, have mine. I'm not using them. They're kind of squishy, though.

Squishy brains for TotP!

Didn't even know mods for it existed. What do they do?

I'm just d/ing it for the speeches the generals give before battle- they are AMAZING. I wonder why they took them out in later versions.

Also, what other total war games do you like? I understand the Empire and Napoleonic ones had issues that turned a lot of people off- Medeival 2 seems to be where all the cool kids are at, although my info could be dated.

I moved on to Medieval 2, I've tried Empire... but issues with STEAM and with unmodability made it next to unplayable. Most of us modders have stayed with Medieval 2 from what I've seen. The game is friendly to most modders (as is RTW) because it uses .txt files and .tga (moddable with photoshop). Empire and Napoleon (and the upcoming Shogun 2) require a whole fleet of user made tools for modding.

Here's a link to the TWCenter community where you can find a bunch of the mods. As for mods, there are a couple of really good ones that I've really grown to like such as Rome: Total Realism (which attempts to make the game more historically accurate but knowing that it can never be fully accurate from the start of the first turn). R:TR expands the map across the Iranian plateau and all the way to India. They removed the other Roman factions (including the Senate) in favor of one playable faction, and changed the Thracian faction into the Greco-Bactrian kingdom (Wiki is your friend. :P) The game seems to focus on the wars of Alexander's successors and Roman/Carthaginian expansion. The experience is superior to the vanilla game IMO, but there are a ton of mods there for all different eras.

I'm a shill. :D

*disclaimer: most of those mods will change your entire game to the mod version. Some use mod folders, which leave your vanilla game intact.

I'm working on tattoo commissions and listening to Appalachian folk music while doped to the gills on high-test cold medicine. I keep thinking there's someone on my bed, and that my speakers are staring at me.

Don't you love being just lucid enough to realize that you've gone completely batshit.

Spoiler:
Update: They upped my meds. Still have seizures and slur my speech a little though. My old doctor evidently was saying I did a bunch of tests, even though I didn't. My new doctor wants me to take said tests, but our insurance won't cover them, we think. The hospital is taking our cause under their umbrella and is fighting our insurance for us, for free! :D

So I'm still alive. My group has gotten farther into Kingmaker and I am now DM'ing my homebrew again on Thursday nights once a month (all I can handle nowadays). We're broke, but still alive and happy. Love ya all and thanks for the worries.

The radio station I work at periodically sends out e-mail updates. At the end of each update, there's usually a promotion of whatever show is on when the update was sent. Today, I got this:

"Wanna make your procrastination boring? Listen to WERW now and tune into Radio Milk hosted by Lucas K.!"

Oh what a difference one little "not" can make...

Hi all. Tried a new pasta recipe today. It was a little bland. Meh.

In other news, my second writing sample is done. (Anybody interested in proofreading? Warning: It's incredibly technical stuff - the proofreading would be more for style than anything else.)

Jackass driver caused the deaths of five motorcyclists in SoCal over the weekend. Car #1 went around the bikers at high speed forcing the oncoming car #2 off the road, and when the driver over corrected he slammed into a pack of riders that car #1 was going around.

Driver of car #2 had been drinking, so he isn't blameless, but the real blame for the incident falls squarely in the lap of driver #1 who left the scene.

I hope they catch this POS and put his fraggin tail behind bars for a long damn time.

There's a lack of accountability when it comes to driving. That's why I want to move someplace where I can sell my car. The insanity...

Anyway, I feel for those cyclists and their families.

The world is not an entirely bad place.

Some of my old college friends are doing this and swear by it. They've gotten their money back when they wanted it. It's an easy way to do good if you have even small amounts of spare cash (I know, who does?). And I found it via Facebook, Freehold!

Clearly, Facebook is aware that I am attempting to warn others of its evil nature, and has started to allow good services to make use of it as a smokescreen. While I think this kiva.org is an amazing organization and I might just make a donation to it, I remain vigilant in my stand against facebook, who I now have some solid evidence was behind the removal of Ice Cream Cone cereal from store shelves. Is Facebook in bed with Big Cereal? I'll have to do some more digging to see just how far this conspiracy goes.

Trust me, no-one's in bed with cereal. I did that accidentally once and got cuts and bruises all over my body from those hard pellets of Cap'n Crunch.
