Yeah. I would have done that too.

Also, 11, know that I have nothing against you or your profession. I've had to work on a college campus before and I know how hard it can be. I'm just wise to a lot of the scams that certain professors pull with respect to the school bookstore, who is often just as much of a victim as the students are.
Well, it depends on the book and on the department. Sometimes certain professors are doing their best to make sure books that have information that they helped to discover or simply wrote themselves are sold- I find the former more in science classes and the latter more in english and philosophy classes(especially philosophy...shakes fist in memory at philosophy psuedo professor lining his pockets by selling his book to us through the bookstore that year). Sometimes the professor simply knows an author, or has worked with a publisher, or is being pressured by a chairperson to use a certain book in his curriculum(said chairperson usually knows an author or has worked with a company before). It's not ALL professors, and I'm sorry if I insinuated that. But it's certainly enough of them that whenever I hear such stories I'm more than a little suspicious.

Okay, I'm trying to get this idea off the ground.
Why don't schools start replacing their textbooks with iPads (and clones)? In first grade, you get your first iPad. Then in 5th and 9th grade it's upgraded to a new iPad. Teachers no longer need to order XX number of textbooks and homework can be assigned, returned and checked electronically. Kids don't have to carry 5-10 books throughout the day, meaning backpacks, notebooks and a ton of other school supplies are no longer needed.
Seriously people, we're in the 21st century! Let's start thinking like we are.

This is slowly starting. My wife is showing me the joys and headaches of pdfs for her college classes.
That said, there's too much money to be made by doing things the old fashioned way so far. I'm sure as doing things the new way becomes more and more profitable for the powers that be, the old fashioned way will be left behind.

He may have made enough off assigning his own book to buy a pizza at the end of the academic year. MAYBE. If his classes are really big.

Morning all. What did I miss?
While out at dinner with his wife, Rich accidently doomed the human race when he bumped a waiter, sending burning soup spilling into the lap of a disguised alien. Meanwhile, Amy and Ben finally gave in to their shared passion for peanut flavored icecream covered with skittles. And, across town, James started an international incident by....No, wait! That's my soap opera!

He still works there. I had the pleasure of meeting him at the start of his career(ten plus years ago...*sigh*). WHen I went back to the college to check on an old friend, his stuff was still in the school bookstore; I have no reason to believe he isn't still making his students buy his stuff exclusively.
EDIT- Forgot to mention that the classes he taught(and possibly still teaches) were required by the college. I dont' doubt he isn't making some serious money off of it.

I simply put them in stock. The few Moorluck clones I have and double handful of CJ clones are great at that kinda stuff. All they need are a few sacks and a white van and bam- I've got more clone stock.

It's a nice day outside today. The sun is shining, but a nice cool breeze blows up main street. Things are pleasant and quiet, though it would be nice to have some customers earlier in the day. I saw the crown royal truck pull up behind the bars earlier, so I'm hoping I can go milk them for their... uh... big purple sacks later. heh.

My wife is reading it right now. It's a good book to pick up from the library. It seems like it's pretty good mostly because it isn't all "doom and gloom", but rather more along the lines of "this is happening, and it's good to understand 'how' and 'why' rather than simply turning off the internet".

I realize that, as a fellow Gary, things get boring on occasion. The women throw themselves at us, the men fall over each other in an attempt to befriend us or make laughable attempts to one-up us...truly, the world is tilted in our favor. Therefore, I must beg you, no matter how truly bored you may have become, don't go down the troll's path. It wouldn't even be truly trolling due to our unhealthy amounts of internal awesome- you might cause a number of books to be discredited as they would then be out of sync with the greater body of work of Things Someone Named Gary Said. We know, thanks to the work of other people named Gary, that global warming has an effect on the enviornment. Let's leave it at that and not throw things off.
