Honestly I have only skimmed. I will go back and actually read it and let you know, my opinion here.

Spoiler:
Mostly regarding the Mormon stuff. I actually know quite a lot about Mormons and am torn. Some of my best friends in the world are Mormon. If I weren't Christian, I might actually be able to get behind their other two books -- but I really don't get the Book of Mormon. At all. And I know enough to really tear it apart and I really don't want to. I feel like I can understand just about any other religion -- but for some reason, I cannot wrap my head around that one.

Sorry for the off topic rant. Back to your regularly scheduled hand cramps.

May be able to salvage that name and carry it over to a Spelljammer Redux style project. I'll muse it over dinner. Little lady wants to go to Culver's just down the road from you. Claims it's Steak & Shakey-like. We'll see.

Right now, I'd like to brainstorm a name that fits a Pulp Dragonstar Spelljammer style name for this mis-adventure.

Boobies to the Head. Of course, we're all talking about the water fowl and not the part of the female anatomy. Talking about the latter simply isn't proper, you see.

Say, is that movie any good? I've heard of it, but every time I hear the name I just think that maybe I should find a place to stay.

EDIT: Warren Zevon reference for TOTP.

Aroo!

The movie is good. For me, the one thing that was a bit too much was how the film invented its own catch phrases and then relentlessly rammed them down the audience's throat.

That said, Treat Williams has the role of his life with Critical Bill, Steve Buscemi is absurdly chilling, and you will be using the term buckwheats after seeing it. You just will.

Good. After stumbling onto a certain clip while looking for that song, I have to agree with you on Williams and Buscemi. Now I just need to find the movie somehow.

(Also, I keep confusing Steve Buscemi with one of the actors from Goodfellas. I don't really know why.)

Went to a beer tasting tonight. Brought my IPA and people liked it. sadly, I couldn't stay longer. My designated driver, the wife, was getting tired. But, I got to hang for an hour, and some of my gaming buddies/fellow brewers were there. And beer! Lots of beer! There was easily 20 people, and each person brought 2 or 3 brews! So, lots of tasty stuff to drink.

If you're a freelancer in the illustration or writing fields (or both), creative directors don't even ask for a degree. What they really care about is your portfolio. I figure I can work on my portfolio, and at the same time, learn a marketable skill.

Only problem is, the family members I'm borrowing money from to pay for college have stated that if I switch to a trade school, I won't have any way to pay for it. So I'm stuck.

Well, if we are talking about me starting a publishing outfit, then the name of the company would be Workshop of the Clockwork Gnome. That is my own creation.

I really like Culver's. However, I think I prefer their custard to their other food. But the burgers are not terrible and the cheese curds are good if you have never had them. They are based in Wisconsin.

I thought they were pricey, but the food was good and fresh. It's like a higher quality steak & shake where you don't have to wait on the staff to refill your drinks and you don't have to deal with the riff raff loud punk teenagers coming over from the Marcus Cinema. I'd like to try their concrete mixers; perhaps they could be a great substitute over the DQ Blizzard.

I was thinking of a means of how to rework your theme to this new perspective and from the Ptolus one. Have some tinkerer gnome working on a spelljammer ship part or something. Maybe if someone here could lend their drawing talents and then someone ink and color it. Hm....

Well, if I do take the jump I would likely publish more than just this product line. Assuming I do fantasy space travel product at all, though I do think there is a market for it. However, I would likely start less grandiose, publishing small pdfs before releasing something that would be the kind of size I think a product of this caliber would need.

I do have a logo in the wings that I haven't utilized yet. In fact, it has been sitting around, waiting for the moment when I decided to move forward on publishing.

Moff Rimmer:

I see you attempting to use a theological argument in a group that has trouble even accepting a theological concept. With the book of MormonYou not only have a theological disagreement with the basics of the book but have other specific issues with it. Such as I have.

It is easier to talk about say, locations. Pick any, and I do mean any location in the book of Mormon. There is no physical way to travel there. Oh you may have some spot that might be it. But no specific place to visit. No look at the New Testament. Jerusalem. Check. Bethlehem, yep can go there too. Old Testament mostly the same. It is harder to track the further back in the past you go, or conversely the earliest in the book. Yet still they exist or have outside cooberating evidence that they once existed.

Now to be honest with locations you do not even have to stay in Christianity to make an issue of the book. Greco-Roman legends, the birth place of Zeus. Yep the island exists. Islam, yep you can go to mecca. Buddhism, India is there.

When bringing these things up it is hard with these guys because we do not want to a, upset those adherents we do not agree with, such as my own wife, or to seem like a hypocrite.

So you try the high road and do a theological disagreement. I get this one as well. There is not a single thing in the Bible shows racism. Not in my opinion anyway. On the otherhand, even after it's redaction racist notions from the beginning of the last century are all but ingrained in the book. one group turning white when they follow the Lord's teachings, those who turn away from the Lord turning dark. I am sorry I just can not find anything that fits, with my understanding of the Bible's teachings.

Sorry for the rant, I hope I wrote enough but not so much as to drive you or any who reads this nutti(er).

About five minutes ago, I was playing my acoustic guitar, practicing scales. This is basically the only time I have to practice on weekdays, since most of my classes get out between 9:00 and 10:30 at night.

Next thing I know, someone from downstairs is banging on my door telling me to shut up, and that it's past the designated "quiet hour" (10 PM). My question is, where was she when people were screaming at the television during Monday Night Football and subsequent after-game celebration. I could have used some quiet then. Better yet, I could have told them to shut up too.

But I'm not a dick.

Well, it happened again tonight, only this time, they called one of the RAs from down the hall. Apparently, this was my "warning," and next time, there will be "consequences."

There's a trick to this sort of thing. Not saying it'll work with this person, but follow me for a sec...

You're sitting in a hammock in your back yard on a Saturday afternoon, leaning back, eyes closed, dreaming of building better mousetraps on a day off when suddenly... REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! A next yard over neighbor sonically nukes you with his leafblower.

WTF?! You say. What the heck is this guy's problem?!

The longer that leaf blower stays on, the more you want to kill... kill... kill this bastard for being one of those people who destroys the world one frayed nerve at a time.

But now, back to the hammock. There you are... mousetraps, all that, and yet you hear a "Hey, Dave?"

You look over and there's your neighbor looking over the hedge. "Yeah?"

"Hi, I'm Mike, we met back... yeah, anyway... I was thinking of blowing leaves and yet I saw you back here relaxing. Is it okay if I run this thing for a little bit? If not, totally cool. Just thought I'd ask."

Now you lay back in your hammock and try and remember when and where you ever met Mike. Thing is, the loud sound isn't elevating your stress because you were approached and given some control over the situation. The emotional state of someone asked if a sound is allowable is entirely different for many people than if the sound is sprung on them.

This specific woman you're dealing with may be letting the football folks get away with loud noises because to walk into an entire room full of happy people and buzzkill courts a lasting stigma, but getting a chance to rules bully a guy who plays music you can't find on Z100? It's almost a victimless crime to an agitated person. Perhaps next time, knock on the door, fake a smile, swallow your contempt for this twit and ask if you practicing for a little while would disturb her. If she says keep it quiet and you're polite about her refusal, she'll likely realize she was harsh and go lighter the second time you pose the request.

If she says yes once, you won't have to try as hard in the future to get what you want because she'll trust your sense of community.

I know that's all a lot of micropolitical business that isn't as out front as you are, but such is the way of the world. If she never says yes, it is your duty to hire assassins.

On a publishing level, I understand completely. Right now, I'm just riffing off the SJR idea where it'd be cool to make our own 'base house rules' to flesh things out and see where that goes. Seems to me that we have a number of us who would like to take this on as a pet project in our spare times.

Yes ... and no. You were speaking of the modern traditional meaning and on that point, I agree with you.

Spoiler:
For instance ... that argument used on Noah's son, Ham, is ludicrous (and without merit) and is only used as a means to fabricate a zero-point hypothesis that was biased from the beginning as a means to legitimize their own preconceived prejudices.

Goooooooooooooooooooooooooood morning Fawlty HOUSE!!!!

Yesterday, I hoped for a day full of adventure. Today, I know to be careful what you wish for.

A tornado touched down in Queens last night. My wife missed being caught in the middle of this tree-rending people-killing storm because she was at school and decided to stay for the IVCF Salsa Party. If that's not divine intervention, I don't know what is. I owe God a coke, it seems.

Me, I went into manhattan and came back into brooklyn with nary a hitch. I was surprised as hell when my wife called me frantic at minuts to midnight wondering why I hadn't called her(I thought she was partying at a friend's house, like usual on Thursday). There are changes taking place at the second job, and unlike most times when you hear that phrase, I'm actually confident that these changes are for the better. I met my new boss although my old boss will still be workign there in a similar capacity, just not as directly with us as he used to(or perhaps more..not sure how that's going to pan out yet). Still, it'll be the same surveys as always and the same great group of ppl. I'm going out tonight, so here's hoping people are celebrating the passing of the storm and not staying indoors.

Let's see what today holds....

Good advice

My ex-g/f used to be in the same situation. The easiest way to go about it would be to do what she did- join the party. Jump in on the monday night football party and practice there every now and again. Once they've gotten used to that, practice on your own on your usual schedule and they'll never bother you. Alternatively, if they don't let you in on their reindeer games, remember names and faces when they shun you at the party and go after them individually with complaints. Not ALL of them mind, just one or two. It'll be the equivalent of a shot over their bridge, and they'll realize you aren't f@@&ing around. Finally(although this is rare), make sure there isn't a b/f thing going on between the RA and on the monday night chowderheads or the person complaining against you. If so, talk to the RA and calmly let her know that you know what's going on here, and that if she wants to keep her position, she can cool her jets a bit.

NAKED DORM VENGANCE FOR TOP!!!!!
