Cavalier for a Society Game

Advice

Liberty's Edge

I was thinking of making a cavalier for playing at a society game. I currently have the core rulebook and advanced players guide. I found the Honor guard archtype and I after reading some of the cavalier guides around I have decided to make either a human or halfling honor guard (order of the dragon.) Main trick here is the +4 ac aid others as an AoO. I am new to the game and not sure how to make this character.

If you were going to make it, how would you do it? What traits, race, and ability scores stand out to you? Would you use a lance unmounted? I am considering a 1 level dip into fighter (polearm master.) Point buy 20, use any legal society rules. Max level is 12 but should be functional 1 - 12.

Silver Crusade

I like Small Cavaliers because it means you can use your mount in more situations. Taking the strength penalty sucks, but so does not having your mount a ton of the time.

Liberty's Edge

I was thinking that too, Can ride a pony or wolf in most places. Honor guard gives up the cavalier's charge abilities so he would be less gimped by not having his horse though.

A maybe halfling cavalier stat spread:

14 str
16 dex
14 con
10 int
12 wis
10 cha

with outrider I would have +5 ride and a halfling could wear a breastplate. I do like the Idea of being human more though.
