Torchwood on Starz

Thankfully, the deal with Fox fell through—that's one network that knows how to screw up a sci-fi show. Instead, Starz has picked Torchwood up for a 10-part story, probably running next year; it'll also air on BBC 1.

I think this is a good deal... Starz seems hungry, and will be giving them a bigger budget.

Everybody who made Torchwood great is still onboard: John Barrowman and Eve Myles are returning as Jack and Gwen, and Russell T Davies, Julie Gardner, and Jane Tranter are running the show.

I'm most happy about the fact that it's not a straight Jack like FOX had wanted. At least according to reports I've read.

Crap. I like the show, but I'm not sure I want to increase my cable bill just to see it.

I understand that Starz' current series are available via NetFlix streaming... don't know if that will apply to a joint Starz/BBC production or not, though.

Children of Earth brought me into the Torchwood fold. I'm really glad it's continuingand that Jack is coming back.

Good to know. Viewing it that way allows for fun things like a weekend marathon.

Even if it's not, it'll be on DVD almost as fast as they make them.

Yeah grumbling about my cable bill too.

Now would someone please broadcast Sarah Jane over here too?

Makes you wonder what they're going to pull on Starz that they wouldn't be able to get away with on broadcast TV (even post-watershed).

Given that we often have an tell don't show mentality about male-male kissing/pairings and given Jack (and maybe John Hart) it could just be 'normal' Torchwood.

What I'd love to see:

Spoiler:
Jack comes back, the hub has been rebuilt/revamped (the Rift is still there after all) Gwen's in charge, Andy's the police liason, Rhys is the house husband/Ianto and there are new agents. Martha's the UNIT liason to Torchwood, and bonus points if they could show quick cameos of Tegan as Tochwood AU. Jack has to deal with the fact that he's not in charge, and that they don't need him. Then of course, it turns into them needing him...
