Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Hey everyone,

My friend has wanted to order the core rule book but I have had him hold off until newer editions of the book were printed simply by showing him my book. Mostly due to the quality of the hardcover books. My main disappointment was with the binding on the core rule book and a smaller point was the entire cover is basically pretty s$++ty quality. Seems to just peal off on both the core rulebook and monster compendium. Other than that I like the books. Page quality, ink quality, and overall writing is great. I have also not invested in any books recently hoping that the books are printed with more quality.

The soft cover books seem to be fine which is amusing to me because I like books that are typically larger hard cover books like the 3.5 books. It is amusing because I hate the pathfinder hardcore books right now. I was just wondering what changes have been made in the past year if any.

--Thanks

I bought mine about 2 months ago and it seems to be of really nice quality, I have used it quite a bit and it is holding up fine.

Ummm... wow... My wife and I got our copies out of the first batch (pre-orders) and my 2 friends got them on the second round in October (I think), and all 4 have held up to weekly usage with little or no signs of wear besides a scuff or two.

The only Pathfinder hardcover that is in even remotely "moderate" shape is the Campaign Setting and it's nearly 2 years old.

I'd say you've gotten a couple of poor samples. Have you asked your local store or even Paizo for a replacement?

NEVER hurts to ask.

Oh, and yes, they are including errata in the newer editions. There's a couple of threads that have been started about this. Clearly mentioning which editions have how much errata.

Not so worried about the errata as I read them when I need to. Just wondering about any changes that has been made to the quality of the hard cover books. It is highly possible I got a s&~$ty core rulebook and I doubt a refund would occur so late now. I can just hold off and wait to see what is going on with changes. I love the game and have always enjoyed 3.0 and 3.5 DND and the new Pathfinder is great. I am also more than willing to continue to support the great writing of the products but I just do not want my books falling apart.

I will check back in a few months to see what is going on here.

-Thanks

I have two copies of the core rules... and in our group we have a total of 9 copies. No one in our group has a book that is falling apart or in poor shape. I have one book that has a dinged corner that is a little bit mashed and does not come to a point because I dropped it. But a heavy book and gravity will do that. :) We have all had our books since the first week or two after release from last August or so.
