Anyone proficient with PHP & MySQL?

Technology

I also put out a clarion call to anyone on my FB friends list. My lil lady is in the last month of her schooling before she gets her certificate and she's been pulling at her hair trying to figure some things out ... and getting adequate assistance from her instructor has been met with little success.

I've recently picked up a couple books to eventually try to self-teach myself how to do it (as I haven't programmed anything since the early '90's and have a lot of (d/r)ust to brush off), but I'm hoping I can find someeone who knows a thing or two about a thing or two on said topic. :D

Thanks!

Most of my web programming is with Microsoft technologies, but I do have some php and mysql experience from running and modding phpBB boards and a six month php programming job. I wouldn't call myself an expert, but if you want to shoot questions my way, that'd be fine.

I like Peachpit Press books to learn languages, personally. That's how I learned php. :)

I'm not familiar with Peachpit Press Books. I've personally picked up a Sams' Teach Yourself book (with video) and a Dummies book. Any place I should start looking?

Also, I sent you a friend request over at FB; it'd be easier that way to get you ladies connected together as mine isn't a gamer by any means. :D I'm certain the questions are all introductory level as this is that type of class.

Thanks, Jess!

I first ran into them at Barnes & Noble. I have had good luck with them because they tackle specific tasks clearly, and they work not only as a good learning book, but as a good reference book after you're more comfortable with foraging into the wastes on your own. :)

I have no facebook access right now, but tonight I will accept and we can start chatting.

Here's what they tend to look like.

Thanks! I'll compare between B&N and Amazon to see who will offer it more affordable for me.

What I'll probably do upon acceptance is to do a tag between you two and proceed from there.

Thanks! :D
