Concerning Brewed Oils...

Rules Questions

I have a simple question... since the user of an oil is considered the caster and the target of the oil is the object, since the object cannot apply oil to itself (lest it be a creature) would the target need to include "touched" in it?

For that matter, wouldn't any oil need to be targeting a touched creature/object in any two party scenario (excluding potions to be fed to the target)?

I might of missed something... but I'm not sure... :p

I use 3.5 potions as a reference for those things, I can tell you that many potions and oils in 3.5 are Range spells.

Spells for potions an oils have a range different from Personal, and imo should have the ability to target a creature different than the caster. "Touch" is not a prerequisite, targeting individual criatures or objects does.

Did you have some spell in mind?

Nothing in particular... I've just been on a rules clarification kick lately I guess.

I used the spelll "Swipe" the other day from Rise of the Runelords #5. I kinda chuckled because it technically qualified for a potion, but would be just as impssible to use as such (like mage hand).
