woo-hoo!!! I've been following this since sometime back in '07 or just before. I am so excited this is finally getting to see the light of day.

Congratulations Greg!

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

Perhaps someone can explain: I already own ST 1, and am uninterested in buying it again. Can I "get on the wagon" once we reach ST 2?

Awesome!

I'm also in for a subscription. :D

I'd prefer an epic hardcover in PFRPG-Rules, though. ^^

I'm also somewhat uncertain here. Are we talking about a hardcover-shipped-to-my-house book, or are we talking about some sort of print-on-demand-be-in-the-United-States service thing that eventually becomes a book?

That hasn't been discusses yet, it is still in the planning stages so far. But it is something I thought of as well and i am sure it is something they will try and address if they can.

It sounds like it will be PoD shipped to your house. But once more it is still in the planning stages and the information is still pretty vague.

I would suggest anyone wanting to know stuff like this should go post the questions on the Necro boards as Bill is a lot more active posting over there.

Some more information posted up over at Necro that addresses some of the concerns here.

Bill is still working out the logistsics of making everything work, but we've agreed on the form of the thing in principle, so the details are still pending, but this is the general overview.

Conversion to PF RPG (including ST 1)

Each of three adventures broken up into multiple pieces (probably about 30,000 words each) and released in order as pdfs for about $10 apiece. So that means starting with ST 1 again (this time updated to PF RPG) released as the first three chapters. For those who have already purchased the ST 1 pdf on DT RPG, we're looking at some way to deeply discount those first three releases to maybe a couple bucks each or something. Bill's going to figure that out. We don't want to punish those people who jumped on board early and purchased the original pdf, and we want to make the new ones worth their while at the same time.

When the whole run has been published as pdfs, then anyone who purchased all the installments would receive a hardcopy book of all three combined shipped to them (should be anywhere in the world as far as I know). My understanding is that this hardcover is at no additional cost and is included in the price of purchasing all 15 (or so) of the pdfs. Bill is figuring that stuff out too.

Obviously if the pdfs are $10 each and there are 15 of them, then the final cost would be $150 rather than the $125 Bill was spitballing earlier, but maybe we make the first one really cheap as the hook to get everyone desperate to buy all the rest ;-), which could offset that by some.

Finally, though I am estimating 15 total chapters, I have not done the breakdown yet to see exactly how it will all shake out word count wise, but it should be around that number given the length of the three adventures together. I know the first book will be in three chapters and the other two books are both significantly longer than it.

We've got art lined up as well as layout, so the final piece is cartography, which I haven't heard back on yet. I've started the conversion work on ST1.

All of this makes me happy. Count another one in.

Are these PDFs going to be available thru Paizo, or only DT RPG?
I'd think ALSO using Paizo's store would be good for sales,
given they make the game system it will use.

Yeah, I would vastly prefer using Paizo's store for this.

Ken

Absolutely no question I would want Paizo's store for this.

I'm in. I can do either DTRPG or Paizo's store, though all my purchases since 4e was released have been through Paizo, so I'd prefer here.

I'm in too, man.

Huzzah!

Frog God Games

We're almost there, folks.*

*Meaning an official announcement and proposed release schedule, not an actual release of the whole thing. Still doing the conversion work for all that to PF RPG.

Scarab Sages

I'm in.

Shadow Lodge

Count me in. Necromancer products are my second favorite to Paizo and I've been waiting for this one forever.

Ok; its a total go. Clark and I discussed, and this will be a a non-necromancer product--but its still me. Clark is simply too busy to deal with this right now, but Greg and I are moving forward.

Without permission form Erik, I don't want to go into product details here, but they can be found at:
http://necromancergames.yuku.com/topic/11454?page=7

and on a new web page (ok; I am a sucky web designer) at froggodgames.com in a couple days.

This thing is huge, and its good. I found a real mapper (really, a professional cartographer who does real maps), and we will be adding art etc.

If this thing pans out to a little better than breakeven, I'll promise to do another book that has been in my head (and half on my computer) for over 20 years. Part of the reason we chose a subscription method is that I refuse to skimp on maps, and maps cost a bundle.

Oh, and thanks to our kind friends at Paizo, and their open license, it will be in Pathfinder format (I don't do 4.0, and 0e is not viable for most folks--but that's why Greg will be doing rules, not me). Erik, if I screw up anything and cross you guys, let me know immediately. Paizo is "holding up the fort" of the true game, imo, and Greg and I decided we should support that.

ps--if you already bought 1...we can work something out, yes..at the risk of getting 200 emails and 100000 spam mails.

necromancergames@yahoo.com is me

Speaking as someone who bought the Slumbering Tsar Part 1, I will happily pay to see the whole thing in a unified, coordinated publication of pdf and print. You and Greg are to be commended for working hard to get this out, and I know from experience that Greg's work will more than exceed my expectations. I am fortunate to be able to manage the cost of a new version without any consideration for my earlier purchase, but for others, your offer may make it more feasible for them to enjoy more of the adventure, so kudos to you!
