I've started this thread to find out what great gaming accessories you guys use that Paizo.com doesn't currently carry. I'm not interested in hearing about everyone's great ideas for new products, I'm just interested in currently available products that make your gaming experience great and where you got them.

Thanks!

I know this has been brought up before, but TactTiles come to mind. I know that there's been some issues with the licensing on them, and some knock-offs floating around, but the last update (which I think was form Lisa) was that you were looking in to making them available.

You are now stocking some of the Litko Aero Stuff....but I noticed that you don't have a lot of their counters. I love their "obviously dead" counters. I use them as I take minis off the battle mat to indicate that that square is now difficult terrain (cause I am mean). I also have a number of their little flames which I use for flaming spheres, campfires etc.

We're going to be adding a *lot* more Litko stuff in the very near future.

The original TactTiles manufacturer seems to have vanished. We were not thrilled by the one knockoff we've seen. Doing it ourselves is still possibly on the radar (but that's not what this thread is about...)

Yippee....though my bank account will hate you.

Products like the Litko stuff, Combat Tiers, and Dr. Wizard Elevation Indicators are great examples of the kinds of suggestions I'm looking for (ie great little gizmos that you may have found at a con or on some random website).

Definitely second the Tactiles nod. They only come up on Ebay every once in a while and I have bid nearly $100 a couple of times and lost.

Really, what I want are map products that are:

1) rigid/stay flat/do not have to be folded
2) fit in my backpack
3) come pre-printed with squares
4) resist destruction from getting wet i.e. not made of paper
5) Clean easily
6) Do not stain
7) No depressions that make drawing on them difficult

I imagine that thinner tiles that came in a stronger box would be even better than tactiles.

I am agnostic on the interlocking feature. I think that some interlocking is good but would like it to be made such that you can offset them (i.e. not shaped like giant puzzle pieces which only interlock one way...but more like a lego where they can be put together different ways).

What happened to Steelsqwire? I keep waiting for them to expand on thier Spell Radius templates, specifically a 30' radius for Channel Energy. Plus any other size determined by PRPG spells and effects.

No joke, are they going to do anything else? I was lucky enough to snap up the various templates, and I absolutely love the things, and keep hoping to see more/new variations!

Are they the ones producing the newly released flipmats?

Dwarven Forge stuff.

We probably won't see a new assortment until the current inventory diminishes a bit more.

We do pretty much everything, but they still approve each release.

My understanding is that they're pretty happy with their move to direct-to-customer sales.

Actually I'd be interested in a Pathfinder Chronicles "Manual of the Planes" kind of thing. It was hinted at in the core rulebook, but a fleshed out accessory would be very useful.

I am about to purchase the Hot Metal and Miniature Mentor DVDs for some painting instruction. I will be getting them from coolminiornot.com but it would have been cool to have them available here at paizo. I would have bought them from you guys in a heartbeat.

Be sure to get a Pathfinder token set out similar to the 4E set. I had them custom make me a Pathfinder set and LOVE THEM. When I had them make my custom set I suggested they pop over here to advertise their wares here. What do ya know 2 weeks later here they were all over the place. Very glad to see that.

Products from these guys:

http://www.ziterdes.de/ziterdes/en/index.php?we_variant=en

Lighter weight than Dwarven Forge. The only problem is they are in Germany. My FLGS can order them but they end up getting them from Diamond. So we get the initial price, Diamond's fees/shipping and what they need to turn a profit on the order.

From perusing the web I have noticed that there are a dearth of plastic fantasy miniatures in sufficient quantities and varieties, with the exception of Games Workshop's Warhammer line. I know Paizo do some miniatures and so do Wizards, but the varieties are lacking in the main.

I'm not even thinking along the lines of pre-painted miniatures, but ones that you can buy in sets and paint yourself. White lead miniatures are prohibitively expensive and are only worth buying as models for player characters.

This leads me on to another need which is based on the first. Sometimes I like to run games where wars are being fought and would love to have a Pathfinder sourcebook for mass battle rules in RPGs. Wizards did an excellent book for this kind of play in 3.5.

Would love to have lots of plastic miniatures; orcs, undead etc for this kind of thing. Would this be a possibility for Paizo?

Have you ever seen the stuff the War Torn Worlds guys make?

http://wartornworlds.com/

They've got two basic types of stuff:

* Recycled rubber stuff (I love that stuff because it's slightly flexible and doesn't chip or break when you drop it).

* They make a whole pile of plaster of paris kinda stuff too, which is reasonably priced.

They weren't at Origins in '09, but they were in '08 and I bought a whole bunch of their stuff.

Also

Someone out there makes shoggoths; they're about the size of a potato and come in green and kind of a reddish orange - I'd love to get a couple more of those.

I just burned an hour looking online, but I can recall neither the store that sold them nor the artist - I'll have to look when I get home. Be nice if Origins had the old dealer room listings online :/

Went to the site of War Torn Worlds looks good though I didn't see any miniatures.

I LOVE Shoggoths!!! Although I got the impression from Lovecraft (See At the Mountains of Madness) that they were black in color. Love Lovecraft stories absolutely brilliant. We should have more Lovecraftian monsters in Pathfinder (i.e. Mi Go, or those little creatures in Tibet that can kill men fairly easily even though they're the size of halflings (powerfully strong), or even the Crab creaures from another tale whose name escapes me - lived in the Vermont Hills and transported peoples brains through space/time in cylinders.

Sorry got carried away there.. :)

They were offering products through our distributor, but as far as I can tell, our distributor never actually received any, and they're no longer listed.

Like Jeff said, in this thread, we're not looking for ideas about things to make, we're looking for ideas about things you've seen out there that you think we should carry.

While I'm not aware of anything quite like you describe, we don't plan on getting directly into the miniatures business anytime soon; we trust our partners at Reaper to do the things that make sense.

What about a cheaper alternatives section? Some of us simply cannot afford the fancy customized game aids, whose entire purpose is over when game is over.

  • Pirate Coins(One of many examples, used mostly for things like Action Points, but could be used as gold/silver/copper pieces for the tideous at heart.)
  • 1" Poker Chips (for status markers)

  • That's not a bad idea, Daniel. Sometimes finding inexpensive game aids is a pain in the neck. Once, I needed 500 tokens I could write on. It took me days to find enough poker chips that wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg. I would also punch a puppy to have access to a line of plastic battletech-scale hexbases for 50 cents each. Metal hexbases are a ripoff.

    RPG Superstar 2015 Top 8

Daniel, that Great Hall Games site you link to (for the poker chips) is an AMAZING find! They've got all kinds of tokens and dice.

Loopy: I don't know if these are Battletech scale, but it's 132 plastic hexes for $18.00 (that's $0.14 each):

    http://www.learningthings.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=EI-2993&eq=&Tp=

I like the Learning Things site--a lot of things like plastic squares are sold to teachers for a far smaller price than they would be for gamers (and rightly so, IMHO, but it's nice when everybody gets to win from the discount) These one-inch plastic tiles have been a lifesaver for me in D&D and other 1 inch grid based games:

    http://www.learningthings.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=LER-0203-100&eq=&Tp=

Of course, if stuff like this showed up at Paizo's Website for a similar price, I would be quite pleased.

What size is BattleTech scale, exactly?

Classic Battletech appears to be 1:285

I think 25mm? All my stuff isn't here where I'm at and a search isn't revealing the information, darn it.

Uncle Mike's Bases. They are relatively inexpensive and ridiculiously cool. They are mostly in Warmachine scale, but the small ones do work for medium bases in d&d if you aren't too fussy.

There is also a company in Europe (Poland?) that stocks bases. They have some really nice resin ice bases, but they are a bit expensive.

What about Bases set for Pathfinder sized creatures

    The basic ones are easy

Large are not hard to figure out

But one for Huge Gargantuan and Colossal would be really helpful.

I have not like the DND minis for a while so im looking into convert other plastics into Pathfinder Minis but I need the right sized bases thanks alot.

On the subject of figures how about a life sized cardboard stand up Seoni..

    JK

Games workshops Mighty Empires stuff might be useful for building relief maps of campaign areas...but it's not cheap

    Joey Virtue wrote:

    Speaking of CHEAP alternatives...

For a HUGE base you can use Pringle's can LIDS, just trim the ridge off. Small pickle JAR lids(banana pepper, olive, mushrooms, etc.) also work and are made of metal, but I have no way of removeing the ridge from a metal lid, so they are slightly elevated about 1/8 - 1/4".

For medium minis I have been using these 'plastic numbered math tiles' that I found back when I use to play D&D minis to help keep track of which unit had what health. Numers 0-9 as well as -, +, =, \ and a few blanks. The whole bucket(container) of about 200 tiles was around $10-15 at Walmart in the learning section(near toys), I have not been able to find them again or on the internet. Nickels also work well for you law breakers with U.S. currency... like for THIS Reaper Gargoyle mini. (Pennies for small size.)

EDIT:To whom it may concern... I had to type in the 'Reaper stock number' (200031) for the Paizo search to even find this mini on your site, while Reaper Gargoyle gets you nothing, seems like an issue to me. Mind you the stock number isn't even mentioned in the listing, how does THAT work?

Well for one, that is not technically a Reaper mini. It is an Asylum mini. And the code you typed in your note above is incorrect. It should be 20031. Your search pulled it up because it is part of the product code (ASY20031) that is listed below the product.

And the penny idea is a good one. Sean K Reynolds uses appropriately sized washers and he gets a double-bonus from them because then they stick to his custom scenery (he lays magnets into the flats for his minis to stick to).

Washers are probably a really-good low-cost alternative for fantasy mini bases.

Perhaps Paizo could start selling hardware too. :) Actually, the magnetic flats are a great idea, and I'm sure if I search the site I'll find Paizo stocks them. Washers certainly have an advantage over white metal or plastic, being magnetic and all. Hmm this is a really good idea.

I just talked to my buddy who is Minis Guru (does hella 40k Custom jobs) and said Plastikard is the best thing to use to make bases from maybe you guys should start to carry plastikard

Edit its made by Slaters its used on model trains im not sure if anyone else makes it

    Contributor

I also prefer washers as based because it lowers the center of gravity of the mini, making it less likely to tip over.

Oh my heck! I just found the coolest thing ever! Check out Hirst Arts moulds. If you liked the Kelmerane terrain from paper, you will wet yourself when you see this.

Now excuse me while I go change my pants.

I do too. You can stick them on the inside of bases for that inconspicuious look. As a bonus for magnet lovers, get some of those tiny ones that have the "Choking hazard" warning. Glue them on to your Warjacks or Citadel tanks and then on to the accessories. Voila! You can easily swap out weapons and accessories without purchasing several of the same mini kit. This tip was originally c/o the Pirates of the Plains.

I see the code now, wasn't looking hard enough I suppose. I accidentally typed in one too many zeroes, sorry. Even going to Reaper's site the plastic minis seem to be in some sort of grey area, not being listed under Asylum's Online Store, but separately as Legendary Encounters with only mention of the sculptor. *shrug*

I've been making my own paper minis and found this on the web for the stands.

    stands from boardgamedesign.com

I hot glue down the stand to a blank base and then just insert what I need. I always get the multi colored bases so if I have multiple type creatures i can tell them appart by the stand color.

I'm waitng for some bases to ship to me from piazo right now so I can make some large type figs.

ANd yes the paper pathfinder minis work great with them.

I could have sworn I've seen them around, until now.

You could always use the tiles I linked to and write the numbers on yourself. Not that that's ideal, but... it's $6 for 100 tiles or $18 for 400 tiles. I write on mine with markers all the time--and that way you can customize and have multiple colors too.
