Westcrown Neighborhood Zones?

Liberty's Edge

I recall back in CotCT someone made a Korvosa map with colorized sections denoting the different neighborhoods.

Wondering if anyone had one to share for WESTCROWN or if I should just crack down and make me own? :-)

I made this up for my players. Using the simplified names. The sectors are my interpretation of what the book describes so could be wrong but its something.

Liberty's Edge

Hey, that works great, thanks!

Thanx very much. My players and I had gone through this various times. You hit it right!

Ah, we need to game

Yup, that was me! I was actually thinking about doing something similar for Westcrown when my group started it in a month or two, but it looks like that's already been done! My only request would be if it could possibly be at a higher-resolution, it's hard to see the names and areas of some of those. Ooh, or even better, if the new poster-map could be used.

I can see if I can scale the picture up. I did it in Gimp so I think I can, but graphic programs and me aren't best friends.

I also did up a cost of living per sector for renting/owning various types of properties basing their cost (though not exactly the same) off the Guide to Korvosa book. My PC really like being landlord. One of them even took the leadership feat to have people run his printing press to help spread propaganda.

Can we see those costs? ;)

Here is the price list. I wrote it up as a letter from a Realtor.

Quote:

As per your request I have gathered some of the prices for the property costs of Westcrown. My office is happy to show you some of our listed properties. We specialize in Treasure and Coin Sector residences, with some listing in Hope’s Altar. I hope you enjoy your new home in Westcrown!

~Pellius Urison Wintrish: 13-45 Gold Rd, Rego Aerum, Westcrown.

PS. Prices are current as of the end of Rova 4709 AR.

Crown and Blade Sectors

Having residence for sale in the Blade Sector is a rare event. Even rarer in the Crown Sector. There are no rental options here.

Ownership:

Manor: 160,000 gp or more

House: 100, 000 gp or more

Townhouse: 80, 000 gp

Apartment: 16, 000 gp

Treasure Sector

This relatively new part of the city has become the home of some of the finest stores and theaters in Westcrown. Items of value can be found here, but as such the land tends to be costly

Ownership

House: 45, 000gp

Townhouse: 35, 000gp

Apartment: 20, 000gp

Rent per month:

House: 200gp

Townhouse: 150gp

Apartment: 100gp

Coin Sector

Home of the new rich, the Coin sector has grown to be the seat of the rising merchant families, and groups that don’t stem from noble houses.

Ownership

House: 30,000 gp

Townhouse: 20, 000 gp

Apartment: 15, 00 gp

Rent per month:

House: 100 gp

Apartment Suite: 50 gp

Hope’s Altar and the Scribe Sector

This is the heart of Westcrown today. The majority of the middle class make their homes here. Plenty of shops and business dot the streets. Outside of the Coin Sector or Westcrown Island this is the best lit place at night, though still dangerous.

Ownership

House: 17, 000gp

Townhouse: 10, 000gp

Apartment: 5, 000gp

Rent per month:

House: 75gp

Townhouse: 50gp

Apartment: 25gp

Flat: 15gp

Blood Sector

Home of the old slavery trade and still home to much of the slaughterhouses in the city the Blood Sector runs lower in price then Hope’s Altar. It is also less light then much of the other cities and patrols in the area are less frequent.

Ownership

House: 10, 000 gp

Townhouse: 8, 000 gp

Apartment Suite: 3,000 gp

Rent per Month:

Apartment: 15 gp

Flat: 10 gp

Studio: 5 gp

Thanks!

So I went ahead and tried my hand at an interpretation with the new map from the Map Folio.

Link removed

I put the borders where I believe the districts are, and also labeled every marked area in the Westcrown article from Pathfinder #25 (all of which should be safe to show players).

Let me know if I missed anything obvious, it was kind of hard to place things on this map when all of the references were using the old one. Heck, the pair of bridges on the main island are even in different spots. :)

Scarab Sages

Blargh, I already see a couple mistakes I made. "Hope's Alter" is not a separate district but actually contains three districts, the "Scribe Sector", "Coin Sector", and "Priest Sector". I'll have to fix that tomorrow. Same with "Despair's Altar", it encompasses both the northern tip that I have marked and all of the "Dead Sector". Looks like the "Regos" are individual regions wheras the "Paregos" encapsulate larger areas.

Nicely done, but shouldn't I have to buy the map folio to get that map? ;)

That map is awesome! Can you also mark the Safe House?

I was a little wary about that as well to be honest, but I figured the main draw of the map folio was having it in giant poster form along with the usual point of the map folios, all the maps from the AP on separate pages and easily at hand.

Anyhow, if one of the Paizo guys pops in and lets me know if that's bad to have up, I'll remove it right away. I don't want to ruffle any feathers. :)

I'll be making other versions with landmarks from each adventure added on. I didn't want to have the initial version contain that since players technically don't know about any safehouse before they begin the game. I'll work on other versions later on, assuming I'm not told to stop hosting it between now and then. :)

Nice map Karui! have you updated it the three districts yet?

Scarab Sages

Not yet PDK, I did that last night just before I had to crash. I'm at work at the moment but will fix it later on when I get out of here.

While we're happy to let you share things like that with your gaming group, when you start sharing them in public, we'd prefer that you adhere to the terms of the Community Use Policy.

I've removed the link from your previous post.

Thanks for the reply Ross. I knew that I'd seen some maps and images get tossed around here that seemed ok, but the map in this one was probably on the side of 'images that should not be posted'. I just wasn't sure.

I'll be removing it from my public area to a more secure area in the site too.

You can redraw the map, or provide only the overlay, within the terms of the CUP. You just can't distribute our cartography.

So anyhow, back on the subject of the zones, I had one question. I'm still working on a version of the map for my own players and was coloring in the zones. I have this thus far:

Parego Regicona - "Westcrown Island" contains:
Rego Corna - "Crown Sector"
Rego Laina - "Blade Sector"
Rego Aerum - "Treasure Sector"

Parego Spera - "Hope's Altar" contains:
Rego Scripa - "Scribe Sector"
Rego Pena - "Coin Sector"
Rego Sacero - "Priest Sector"

So far it seems like every Parego is just representing a group of smaller Regos. The only part that seems weird is Parego Dospera, "Despair's Altar". it refers to the abandoned ruins and slums on the northern shores of Westcrown. I know that it starts at the wall where the "Blood Sector" is and goes to the north of the city, that I understand (or maybe not, see below). My question is what "Rego Cader" takes up. At first I thought it was just the southern part of Parego Dospera, but the more I look at it the more I wonder if it's really just the entire area. If Parego Dospera IS Rego Cader.

Actually, that leaves Rego Crua (the "Blood Sector") as the only Rego not within a Parego. So perhaps Parego Dospera encapsulates both Rego Cader AND Rego Crua? That does make some kind of sense. Then this bit "While the northern sector is entirely a ruin...the southern rego acts as the buffer zone between it and 'civilized' Westcrown."

Perhaps they actually mean the northern sector is Rego Cader, and the southern 'buffer' rego is Rego Crua? I'm starting to think that is the case, then every Rego is inside a Parego.
