Blog post about the origins of Treerazer and Tanglebriar

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I know this thread is a little late, but I wanted James Jacobs to know that I really enjoyed his November 28 blog post about the origins of Treerazer and the Tanglebriar in his homebrew campaign. I especially liked the James' drawing of Treerazer, it made the whole piece come alive for me.

I'd love to hear more about what parts of Pathfinder sprang from Paizo employees' campaigns, and if any other Paizonians are as interested as I am.

Anyone else want more blog posts like this one?

Dark Archive

Yes, I found this blog post really interesting and amusing as well. The cover is pure gold. Awesome! It was cool to learn the history behind these characters. I have to admit that I liked James' version of Treerazer better than Ben's. Ben's far superior in terms of art of course, but I like James' design better. It's a shame that Ben didn't know this picture when he got the art order as I'd expect that the result would've been even more awesome. I like the original Treerazer's wings and bird beak, while Ben's demon looks a little like a dragon or these dragonspawn vritters WotC did; he doesn't look like a demon to me. Don't get me wrong, it's a totally awesome piece of art, but the design could be better.

I'd like to see more posts like these. I'm always interested in hearing stories like these; especially about the stuff the designers did for their home campaigns when they weren't professionals. Remember Erik's explosion dog from one of the Dungeon editorials? That was great! :-)

The Exchange

Yeah I remember one of the letters in next(?) issue's scale mail about "explosion dogs in reality". Absolutely hilarious.

I also love those blogs as they give us some insight into how creative minds work and what the roots of the Pathfinder universe are. And I like there style which feels similar to Erik's and James' editorials in the old mags.
