Messageboard Etiquette Proposal

Website Feedback

This thread is in response to thread bloat caused by the discussion of various material within official threads. While not applicable in all cases, this proposition should allow for a more streamlined access to the communities questions/concerns by paizo staff and other community members.

Proposal:
When wishing to receive official/peer opinion/clarifications first use the message board search capabilities to see if an appropriate thread exists. If it does not, start a new thread in the proper location. Seed the thread with an appropriate discussion starter. Then move over to the official thread and post your question/feedback along with a link to the previously created thread. Request comments to be posted in that thread only.

This should cut down on thread bloat and help consolidate information. In this manner Paizo has fewer posts to search through to get at what the questions/concerns of the community are and have ready access to community feedback through the linked thread.

I am going to start using this template and hope others follow suite.

Cheers!

Good luck with that. Wishful thinking if you're expecting uniformity. ;)

I'ma go herd cats now, 'kay?

Now now now, this is the website feedback forum and not the "make fun of the guy's idea" forum.

I smile. But it's on the inside.

That's just mean and Sebastian-like.

But technically you didn't say that we couldn't make fun of Events Managers.
Here goes...

Sounds like a reasonable request to me. Are we so jaded that we can't work up a mite of optimism for the OP? Okay, so that's an obvious yes--well, manners are still to be encouraged.

I approach it more as a healthy pragmatism. Unless you have people going around enforcing with the same rigidity as other heavily monitored sites, I am guessing that only a fraction of the participants on here will read this thread and possibily even less will adopt the courtesy. Where's Pavlov when you need him. ;)

I will go on believing that manners are contagious. Just like my irrepressible charm...

Might work if the Messageboard search worked.

But it really, really doesn't. I have to use my browser to search for the desired term on each page of the archive I think it was in. I figure this is a "known issue" with the forum.

Yeah, our current search sucks. Making it better is a very, very high priority for me.

It's not a bug, it's a feature.

Paizo Employee Director of Game Development

You're damned right I'm a feature!

I tire of all the anti-bug propaganda.

Hmm. The excluded middle wasn't excluded.

I find this post to be exceedingly funny and I don't know why.

I've been on forums that were way worse. I actually find what I'm looking for much of the time here.

My goal for the new search feature is to be better than Google....

Well, if your new search system respects privacy better than Google does, I'd call that goal successfully met. Actually finding things on the Paizo site using it would just be a nice bonus. ;-)

With Google's new gRuler.

I was hoping they'd be measured in a new unit: the mairkurion.

..but ... it's so big.
