Oh, we're heading for Venus
And still we stand tall
Cause maybe they've seen us
And welcome us all...

It is 2pm (local time) and it has been thick fog outside all day, almost like the UK itself is holding its breath.

Heh, I'm doing exactly the same, though in my case, I'm antsy on behalf of Ninjaiguana just in case he's too busy being bedridden with the dreaded lurgy to be worrying about it himself!

Woo! Excitement! It'll be 10 am here when it gets announced!

OMG, all these posts took me back to my days in school singing "My Grandfathers Clock"

tick tock, tick tock...

Apologies in advance to this song, but I couldnt resist a slight edit to the chorus to give everyone the jitters some more :P

"Ninety years without slumbering, tick, tock, tick, tick,
It's life seconds numbering, tick tock, tick, tock,
And it stopped short, never to go again, when the web forums died."

:P

p.s. If you dont know the song, the lyrics are here

That's what I did 2 years ago - and it turned out pretty well. If you get in that magical 32, though, don't be satisfied with just getting there. Go for the gusto!

Hilariously quoted by Willy Wonka (as incarnated by Gene Wilder) when Augustus Gloop was stuck in the pipe.

Last night, I dreamed that my item made the top 32. A thin woman in a suit and sunglasses showed up at my place of work, confirmed my identity, and told me that, "We're going to make things a little harder on you this year. For the second round, you will design a 'fallen' relic, give it a short history in 100 words or less, and design an antagonist who uses it. Good luck!"

I've been brainstorming all day.

You got it!

And actually I learned it from Willy Wonka first. ;-)

Here is a top-notch site for any Wonka fan, I promise no rick-roll!

So, is the whole world foggy today or something? Foggy here in Oklahoma, and the deer are enjoying a game of "Leap out of the fog, run across the road, and scare the crap out of someone!"

Star Voter Season 9

That is strange... I can confirm that Belgium is covered in a thick fog too. Maybe this has something to do with the next round... spooky.

No fog here in Oregon, USA. There was a strong wind last night and some people lost power. Is the world trying to keep us all in the dark?

Clear skies in East Oregon! Not that I wouldn't much rather be on the West Side.

Well I could confirm the UK fogginess here in Sheffield (my lovely view over the hills from the office has been obscured all day), but it seems to have completely cleared up now that dark has fallen...

!! Things are pretty nice here in Duckville... Some cloud cover but dry (at the moment). Enjoy your sun. I have almost forgotten what it looks like.

No fog, but dreary and raining here in northern California. (No, northern California. San Francisco is 200 miles south.)

On the upside, I was laid off on the 1st and just got 10 hours of sleep, so I'm completely fresh and have nothing else to do. Crossing my fingers that I actually made it. :)

True, true.. But it would be nice to have some face to face gamers in the neighborhood. I don't want to assume you're in Portland (where I know I could find a game), but I'm here on the Oregon/Idaho border. I could probably find some groups in Boise, but for the moment I'm in a dry spot.

Thanks to MapTools, I still get my game on though.

EDIT: unless Duckville is a real place! I'm new to the state.

It is unseasonably warm for January here in Indianapolis. The air is still crisp and cool, however. Earlier there was a slow steady drizzle that left me with the impression that the day itself woke dripping with anticipation. All around the world seems quiet and watchful. It’s the kind of day breeds new adventure.

But then, maybe that’s just the way I’m seeing things today ;)

Has this thread really degraded into a discussion of the weather?! The announcement is coming in just over four hours, people! Let's keep our eyes on the ball.

Welcome to Oregon! I'm sure you can find a game in Boise if not a little closer to home. Good luck with that.

I'm actually in Eugene. The home of the University of Oregon. Our team is the "fighting ducks."

Easy Yoda.. easy. We're all dressed up with nowhere to go. There's a ton of excitement, you've got to believe that! Folks are just passing time as a community the best way they can.

Trust that nobody will be talking about the weather in a few hours! ;-)

Edit: And the best of luck to you sir! I'm hoping we both make it! :D

As Dylan Moran once said, of the Irish fascination with the weather:

'It's fierce mild!'

It was foggy this morning here in Kentucky...
Now it's just cold and damp...

Garvantuldur, former intelligent Holy Avenger that went insane along with its owner after the (then) paladin killed a glabrezu only to discover that it had been curing villagers of a lethal plague unleashed by a devil rival. The Paladin went mad in the following hours as villagers dropped dead around him, and in the end he tried to commit ritual suicide but ended up coming back as an undead. All the sword's former powers, with regard to alignment, have been inverted and it remains in the hands of Sir Olvimor, although in undeath he is now a graveknight.

Easy... ;)

The Lamp of the Oracle, fallen ever since Neo bumped into its stand, causing it to fall and shatter. The current wielder is now Lor *scribbles* Agent Elro.. *scribbles* Anderson, who simply displays it to taunt Neo about his clumsiness (and stuttered speech mannerisms).

Hey Yoda and community,

I just wanted to add to my post to Yoda (above) that I didn't mean to come off as holier-than-thou or lecturing. If I did, I feel bad about it and offer Yoda my apologies.

Speaking to the larger community,

I'm excited as hell. :D I woke up at 7 am for no good reason today, just because I can't think of much else besides this contest. In a few hours, 32 people are going to be celebrating (and probably sweating), and the community will be celebrating with them.

Unfortunately, the reality is also such that a few people are going to be disappointed; even if they're trying really hard not to be. Even if they promised themselves and others that they wouldn't be.

I've been there.

Today of all days is an opportunity to cut the 'other guy' as much slack as you can. Forgive folks their foibles. Remember that everybody hoped to do well, and everybody did the best they could at the time.

As for Yoda, I have nothing but respect for a man who does as much community building as he does. Today he's just another fan entering a contest, but I'd like to say that no matter what, he's done an awful lot of things already to be proud of.

Word.

Why do these threads keep becoming about me?! You people are making it very hard for me to remain humble. :-P

But thank you all for the support. RPG Superstar will give 32 members of the community their time to shine, though, so whether I am one of the lucky few or not, let's try to keep the focus on what's really important now.

Best of luck to everyone!

As for San Francisco, (Stanford, specifically), dreary, raining, cloud cover, and a power outage this morning at 5:30 that set off our dorm's fire alarm...

At least morning lectures got canceled.

What city you in Mr. Badger?

Ahhh. I made it to lunch time, which means that after my hour break there is only one hour left to wait!

I wish the Paizo IT folks well and much success over the next few hours. Thanks for doing your best to keep things running :)

Over here (Athens, Greece) it's terribly humid (my writing arm is in pain) but no fog yet...

I'm just anticipating.

I had an idea, was too busy over Christmas/New Years to flesh it out, so I'm just going to enjoy the contest and refine it for next year.

And you know what hung me up the most? The freakin' name.

It's ALL about the name :)

(I still remember The Spoon of the Witch Queen fondly. Great item ... really odd name :)

Personally I feel anyone who submitted an entry is a winner. Best of luck to the top 32 ideas! For those who are not chosen, never, ever give up.

RE: Nerves, I stopped by to visit the wonderful folks at Biggby Coffee on the way home from errands. The friendly teenager behind the counter recognized me, stopped in the middle of asking if I was having my usual, and said "Are you sure you need coffee?"

Apparently, this contest is effecting me moreso than I previously thought.
