Rav's Drow Adventures

Rav’s Drow Adventures
I have an idea I would like to try
I have GMed a bit but not for a PBM
The (initial) setting would be a Drow city
All pc’s would be Drow level 6 (noble drow)
All part of the same noble house
Alignments any except chaotic evil and lawful good
No “psychotic evil” please, you can play someone evil but No random killings e.g. You can rob a merchant and kill him so you can’t be identified but don’t go and slaughter a caravan because you can.
Also you are essentially at war with the other ruling houses so you can kill other drow and still retain a non evil alignment
And please no major party infighting, you can insult each other and let each other down, i.e. leave someone in a fight but no “I’m going to cut his throat because I’m bored”
Also there is some family loyalty
You house matriarch does not want you killing each other for no reason, also she rewards and gives status according to ability rather than gender so in the house male and female are roughly equal although when in normal Drow society the male is subservient to the female
Your noble house would be a bit like a mafia family

Spoiler:
Stat array 18, 16, 14, 13 12, 10
We will use pathfinder core rules only
All clerics worship Lolth (she is NE )
The setting is sometime before Lolth's disappearance in the forgotten realms
Hp max level then half plus 1
All starting characters get one fate point, basically you can use it to survive an encounter
Free feat daylight adaption (you have been trained to operate in bright light so no penalties)
Equipment 1000gp
Plus Elven chain+1 (bracers ac 4 for wizards sorcerers or monks)
Elven cloak
8 doses Drow poison (last one hour if put on blade dc 13 fort save)
Two +2 equivalent weapons
Any one other item of 4000gp or less

You are all related to one another, for simplicities sake you are all cousins (or siblings), your grandmother is the Matriarch and you are the children of one of her eight children, you can’t be the child of her firstborn or seventh born or eighth born children

the focus will be more on ACTION than roleplay (it is a pbm so there will still be a lot of roleplay)
I will be using excel spreadsheets to sort out combat so i will need email adresses
i will try to post every weekday and will expect pcs to do the same

i need 4 or five players who will post regularly

Does this sound like a game for you?

ps there may be a few minor changes to the rules to make it easier in a pbm, iniative rolls for everyone will automatically be a 10
so people will know straight away when they are going to act
(i have noticed that sometimes you have to wait a few extra days just because someone has not rolled there iniative)

I'm not a typical drow fanboy but did just read the first three war of the spider queens books so I actually look forward to playing this!

I'd love to play a cleric, I'll come up with more info.

What are Lolth's domains? Dagger is her favoured weapon I guess?

Grand Lodge

I've an interest... What system are you using? 3.5, 4.0, or Pathfinder? I'm good either way.

As far as I'm concerned you can handle rolls any way you want to, if you want to roll them all I'm good.

I'm interested as well: I haven't played D&D for quite some time, recently discovered of Pathfinder and grew fond of it; I was looking out on the web to start playing again when I had a look here.

Probably I'll pick up a sorcerer, but I can't exclude the possibility of ranger or rogue.

Just some questions: (1) "Stat array 18, 16, 14, 13 12, 10": do these stats already count the +1 stat increment of level 4?
(2) "The setting is sometime before Lolth's disappearance in the forgotten realms": is it too much of a problem if I've never played in FR and don't know very well the setting?
(3) "Hp max level then half plus 1": I didn't understand this, can you re-explain what you mean?

The Exchange

I have read all 6 of the war of the spider queens novels and def want in on this. I can post every weekday my e-mail is wtseng2104@gmail.com

As for concept, I find it really hard to break out of the female cleric male everything else norm for drows. Perhaps the new classes, such as summoner, can make an interesting twist. What does the GM think?

(2) Lolth is the goddess of pretty much all underground drow (those above ground worship a male evil drow god. More on this later.

(3) I suppose the GM mean max hp 1st level, then subsequent hp are half hit die +1

to answer some of your questions

previous knowledge is not needed
your pc will not know much about the world outside of their city
the short version is that thousands of years ago the drow lost a war against the "evil" surface elves and now live underground

inn fact too much prevoius knowledge may be a problem as i will be changing lots of things (in the forgotten realms) as we go along
my main inspiration is the war of the spider queen.

we are playing pathfinder core rules

level 1 is max hitpoints
level 2 or higher is half + 1 plus con modifer( a fighter would get 6 a rogue 5 etc)
you get another +1 stat at level 4

Ok, I knew Lolth was the Goddess of drow, I'm just not so informed about her story, or the disappearance Raven mentioned. I had just a quick look at the Underdark manual, haven't read it carefully.

That's what I supposed too, but wasn't sure at all. Thanks for explanation.

I think I'll play a ranger, in the end. It's a class I've never tried, and it intrigues me.

sorry but only core classes at the moment so no summoner.
LLoth is CE not NE (my mistake sorry)
domains
death
destruction
chaos
trickery
darkness

Clerics in this house are not fanatical clerics and see lloth worship as more a means to an end, but they are not blatant about this. (this will be very important if the campaign progreses!!)

Rangers (noble drow ones) in this house will have been above ground as part of their training

I would be interested. I'm a grand fan of Salvatore. I would be interested in playing a wizard.
Question:
The equipment listed two magical weapons, may i exchange them for wands or a magical staff?

The Exchange

I think I'll be a rogue. When do you need characters by?

how about one weapon and one wand magic missile spell at 5th caster level fully charged

in case i forget to say only the drow poison is subject to being destroyed in sunlight

and everyone has a potion of cure moderate wounds

It says you are looking for 4 players. Can you put me on the reserve list? Unless you deecide to have more players than that.

I'm definitely interessted in this if there is still room. I'm thinking either a fighter or a bard.

can i have characters in the next few days
at least tell me the basics of them so i can get started soon

so we have a Ranger
a cleric
a rogue
a wizard

half porc you can join in too
if you are willing to play a frontline fighter/ barbarian type that would be helpful

the game will start of with you running mission for the Matron mother

her name is Matron Divaste Rilynghym
the house name is Rilynghym
you all probaly know this but you all get to use the house name
(dont worry about trying to pronounce it!)

ok we are full already!!
CLOSED

Ravn you can be my reserve sorry!

if people do not post for two weeks (without saying they will not be posting) then i will assume they are not interested
please tell me if you do not want to play, or if there is something you are not happy about
also i am willing to incorporate your ideas if you tell me about them and they do not affect party balance too much

i am going to start over atthe pbp discusion thread so please look for me there
the name of the thread is the same

Damn, just a minute too late... Oh well, I will roll up a fighter just in case.

Grand Lodge

If I'm in... I'll be going for a fighter, possibly evolving to duelist type.

Great, I'll work on this by tomorrow.

These stats are with the racial adjustments already factored in? if not, are they as per the Bestiary or the PFSRD?

the racial adjustments are not factored in
(your characters are tough but your opponents will be too I will be treating your charcters as at least EL 8 for what i throw at them)

RAVN you are in if you want (a fighter would be good)
we have had one drop out already

can people move over to the discusion thread please

Great! I will post the character in the ooc thread.
