Closure is a hard thing. My beagle-mix had been suffering since mid 2008, but was still functioning. I think she had some sort of a stroke when we took her to a different groomer to save on cost and she never came out the same. She eventually regressed by having canine dysfunction syndrome. In the past several months, it was getting harder for her to walk or stand at posture when eating or relieving herself. A part of me was hoping she would choose the time to pass away, but she was still eating and drinking as normal. It wasn't until the middle of last month when I decided I could cope with it. Recent pictures on my FB was on the morning before we went to the vet.
Similar thing happened to me with my cat about 3 years ago. Unfortunately she passed suddenly and violently in front of my mother, who hasn't been the same since herself. We have a shrine to her in the living room, with a picture of Bast, mother of catkind, next to it, drawn by a famous artist who also autographed it.

Solnes, sorry to tell you how to parent.
I'm going to take a break for a while. I'm not contributing much here.
Taig your advice and suggestions are always welcome, we both think the world of you. What Solnes meant was we are weak, and cave when it comes to the kids. We thank you and everyone here for being here for us. I don't think you have ever offended us, Solnes loves you.

I hesitate to speak for anybody else, and I hope I'm not putting my foot in my mouth...
But I don't think offering suggestions based on your own experience is the same as telling someone how to parent.
You're such a lovable badger, after all.
Agreed!!! I wasn't meaning to be snarky, not at all. It was early and had been a rough morning, and it was taken differently than I meant it.

And give in we did. We went after lunch and got them a bunny. She is a grey dwarf and is adorable. We are bouncing names around...Tyke, Tymora, Llira, Hannah, Sheila Furryroyal, ....... can't seem to agree on one. But as kids will do...they seem to have forgotten her as soon as she was home and set up in her cage.

If she's gray, she should be the Dust Bunny! Or Dusty. ;)

Hubby said absolutely NOT! :(
I'm not much of a dog person. I like dogs, I just don't feel I have the time a dog needs and deserves to give one. It wouldn't be fair to the poor pup, so I guess you could say I don't have a dog because I love them.

Is it a Dire Bunny?
If it can leap it could be Monty Python Bunny.
Harezilla?
The Carrot Thief?
Countessa Bunniopolis?
Come on, how's the name game going?
Tyche. It was a toss up between that or Tymora for me, so I went the the RW reference. She is a cute little thing, and she is grey but Solnes said NO to 'Dust Bunny'. :P

Oh man I would love another dog. But especially now that neither of us is home for 10 hours out of the day there is no time to train one. Hubby says we can eventually have another puppy, just not now.

I didn't get hit as hard as you guys though. The flu shot must be good for something.
I can guess why the missus chickened out on Dust Bunny - 'Mommy, you should see the new Dust Bunny at Arden's house. It's so cute.' ;)
And dust bunnies tend to multiply...

Got any recommendations? The missus has a friend stopping by tonight as she passes through town and I've been cleaning house. Aside from some animal smells (four cats and a dog does that), but now that my oldest one has moved on, I've been trying to find remedies to lift the scent until we have the money to completely remove the carpet and replace it with faux wood. I'm going to move to a trend of not having carpet in future homes unless it's a large throw.
