Extra head evolution?

Round 2: Summoner and Witch

The Exchange

It seems like every other appendage is covered. Legs, arms, tails, tentacles, wings...but nothing is mentioned about heads. Not going to lie, my desire for this is 90% cosmetic for a Cerberus look, but I could see it also being used to give extra bite attacks. So would it be 1 or 2 evo points?

Thoughts, feeling, opinions?

I'd say at least a 2-point (Gore is also 2 points), since it would likely also give the Eidolon a +4 racial bonus to Perception checks.

Edit: You might even make it a 3-point evolution if you grant the Eidolon All-Around Vision with the extra head, which grants a +8 racial bonus to Perception checks and makes it immune to flanking, as well as the extra bite attack.

If it is just an extra head (with the possibility of adding a bite or gore evolution) I'd make it a 1 pts evolution (giving a +2 to perception). This way it is similar to the tail evolution.

One problem with heads though is breath weapons. With multiple heads we are bound to end up with players insisting on multiple breath weapons or attacks and breath weapons in the same round. This properly won't work... at all.

On a related note, I really don't see why gore is a 2 pts evolution. Seeing as it is similar to 1 pt bite, although slightly worse since bite lets you improve it to 1½ str, it should be priced like the bite.

I would make them buy each attack for each head separately. That way if they wanted to go the route of multiple breath weapons it would be fine.. it'd just cost them a good bit of points to do it.

I likely wouldn't give them any skill bonuses for the head though. The evolutions already have a way to increase skill bonuses. I don't think I'd double them up just for having an extra head.

Just my .02 though.

The argument for a skill bonus for the head is that tail gives a +2 bonus to acrobatics.

Just noticed the very limited uses of breath weapons, so it might not be a big problem.

The wording should specify whether using it is a standard action (as I expect it is) or not.

Was totally just thinking this, but more because one of my favorite baddies is the Ettin. And I would say it'd be a hefty point cost considering that a second head usually gives All Around Vision.

Just give a second evolution that grants the all'round vision similar to how there are the tail-chain evo's and such.

If all you want is a cosmetic look then just do it, no stat or skill modifiers. If they want it for attacks then have them pay for bite and put a 'second' head around it, same with the breath weapon if they want another one (it is a 4 pt evolution after all)
