Blah. Now with the bestiary 3 out, I can't decide if I want my Skulls & Shackles Druid to be Undine or Vanaran. Being a Vanaran Aquatic Druid would give you both a climb speed AND a swim speed, which can only be a good thing on a pirate ship. Then again, the -2 CHA would make Wild Empathy stuff a little more difficult...so again I say, blah.

Looks like a tornado hit Olympia but things are moving back to normal.

Edit: Phil - Sorry about that cat episode. I've been present for a couple of those sorts of things, never pleasant. I actually had a scare during the power outage where I thought my wife's cat had passed...turned out the lazy s$$$ was so asleep he wouldn't move but it certainly wasn't what I needed amongst everything else. Hope you are able to feel better about it, accidents happen and all that.

Glad to have you back, Zal! Happy to hear that things are moving back toward normalcy. Geez, down here in Georgia I wouldn't know what to do if we had a snowstorm like what hit up there. We had about three inches of snow in December '10 and it was the most I'd seen in years. The worst snow I've heard of hitting this area was like...1976 or so and that was sixteen inches.

Yeah, I don't feel as bad about it as I used to. I'd feel better if I'd had the presence of mind to take note of where I was so that I could find the owner of the cat and apologize for it. I tried to remember, but I simply couldn't come back later and have the presence of mind to know exactly where I was. Anyway...I'm a big boy. I'll be alright.

I just picked up Inner Sea Magic at a Books-a-Million and saw the Tempest Druid, an archetype representing The Sodden Lands. For whoever else has the book and has seen it, does it seem like the Storm Druid in UM is a lot better? I mean...they both get spontaneous domain casting, they both get to see through magical fog/rain/mist/etc., but the only other thing that the Tempest Druid gets is the ability to re-direct ranged electrical magic from level 9. The Storm Druid gets a second domain and a number of other wind-related abilities.

I dunno...I was just kinda underwhelmed by the Tempest Druid after having seen the Storm Druid. And I had a question related to the Storm Druid that one of you guys may be able to answer. Do the abilities that allow the Druid to ignore wind-related effects apply to projectiles used by the Druid? For example, if the Druid fired an arrow during a windstorm, would the arrow also ignore one level of wind (or ignore it altogether at lv. 13)?

I'm honestly right now leaning more towards a Vanaran Druid than an Undine Druid...for some reason the monkey-folk just appeals to me more.

I think the Tempest Druid would make sense of you basically were playing the entire time on the edge of the Eye so the lightning thing came up ALOT but otherwise I agree that the Storm Druid seems better.

As to the question about the wind I would rule that it does indeed allow you to fire an arrow without penalty...at first I was thinking that it would NOT work, and the arrow would get tossed about but those penalties are applied against the character when you fire for instance as a representation of the trouble the environment causes the character...if the character has no issue or in this case a relationship with wind that allows him/her to see influence and mitigate effect then I would think they could throw a knife straighter or whatever. MY ruling, I think that would be something each DM might calibrate differently.

Thirteen skeletal assassins! Fourteen demon ninjas! And so on...

Might I recommend that we throw the excess into a group kitty just in case we find something that we need to buy as a group or something we need to pay for? Even if it is a glorified change jar it will eventually help us for something I'm sure...

I don't know much about the archetypes you're using, and neither do I consider myself an expert on the druid class (having only played one once). I do however like that you've chosen vanara as a race, a they were one of my fav. races from the old Oriental Adventures. Props for going for the monkey man, as a fan of the old Pirates of Darkwater, I think all piratey adventures should have a talking monkey.

Ha! I wasn't even thinking about the old monkey-bird from that show. Man that's been a while...and here are links to the PRD for the Aquatic Druid archetype and the Aquatic druid domain. I was at first thinking about having an Undine Druid for the swim speed, but when I got the bestiary 3 and saw the Vanara I immediately took to them. Not sure why...just..the flavor appeals to me for some reason.

Yes it was the Vapnertak show..good weekend picked up some Tide of Iron expansions, Mansions of Madness, some Pathfinder Minis and a bunch of books and figures for "A Very British Civil War"

Saw a nice concept in pre painted plastics. 10mm ACW armies with nice paint jobs pricy but worth it if you are into the period and can't be bothered painting masses of figures (looks at the Union and Confederate Cavalry Corps which have been unpainted for 15 years..and nods)

I've dome my fair share of GW and some other tabletop army games and those were a fairly robust commitment but nothing compares to those 10mm figs, way too hard for me to get "right" or detailed enough to look good so I can empathize.

Those pre-paints look good in picture (the Gordon & Hague line right?),its nice to here from someone who has seen them face to..er...mini. I still work part time in a games shop but the historical stuff we deal in almost exclusively special order territory so we often don't get to see the product IRL.


Yes it was the G&H minis..Magister Miltum do them on this side of the pond and they are definitely on my buy list..I might sell off my large (and badly painted) 15 mm ACW armies to finance it.

And having hefted the grand army boxes I can say they weigh about 2 kilos apiece..and that is a massive saving in weight over the 15's

I've never heard of any of those games. My experience with wargaming has gone pretty much exclusively into GW's pocketbook. Currently painting up a daemon prince for my Alpha Legion CSM army for 40k.
