Not that making the top 8 isn't an awesome achievement, but they just missed the finals (and some serious bragging rights) while also just missing their chance to try agai.

That would definitely suck.

umm, I'm pretty sure the top 8 could find work if they want to ;-)

Gods know I've sent stuff in and I didn't even get to the top 17.

Yea...and that makes me more grumpy ;) Of course now I am pondering all the things I could have done differently. *Sigh*

Reminds me of a great quote from "Boomerang" (and you have to think it in Eartha Kitt's voice, cuz it makes it a hundred times funnier):

Ha! Realize that when Ed Greenwood flirted with me at dinner, I just shrugged. If a 6 ft 5 in. bearded gray-haired Canadian bibliophile can't scare me, how can you?

Also, remember that I am so badass that I knocked myself out while driving and drove into swamp just to see prove how badass I am. And walked away unhurt. And then asked out the best gamer girl at Gen Con and convinced her to move cross-country to be with me. And she plays Pathfinder and paints minis.

Sean is Keyser Söze? That explains so much (especially Cloak & Dagger and Lords of Darkness)

Ah well, since this thread seems to be off-topic now.... I have it on good authority that you can make Sean cry like a baby by taking away his caffeine. Either that or you can make him attack you in the berserk frenzy of the deprived caffeine junkie. It's one or the other...

But anyway, taking away his caffeine is *definitely* a way to hurt him.
<diabolic laughter>
I deny completely that a tittle-tattle imp called Cosmo was involved in the obtaining of this information. Or that thirty pieces of silver changed hands. (As if Paizo Customer Service were that cheap...)

You! But I defeated you, months ago, when the flame wars were at their height on the Religious discussion thread.
Well at one of their heights.

Haven't you even seen the Summoner threads recently? Eidolons with tentacles everywhere. Little half eidolons crawling over the feet of Wes Schneider. And anyway, I got better. Or, umm, something.

Nooooooo!

Speaking of octopodae: they're officially tool-users! (Video at the bottom of the article.)

Speaking of tool-users:

I hope the "tool" I've submitted will be used by some ( even octopodae, I don't want to discriminate anyone).

So far it was a very fun experience. Crafting ideas, refining and designing the heck out of them. It definitely was worth the effort, and i don't even now whether i will make it into round or my item was any good at all :) )
Everyone who is even slightly interested in designing should enter. 'Cause the only way you can really learn design is by practice and self-reflecting.
You have only 8 days left, but thats enough to get and refine a good idea that will blow the judges heads off ( or at least those of your own gaming group), so just do it!

Is this where I make the obligatory "I have two ex-wives, rejection is perfectly normal for me," comment?

Ha. However, I do notice and ever-so-slightly envy your 2009 tag. :)

Man, it sucks not entering this year, but I just don't really have anything. Now, if we were submitting something sci-fi... Maybe next year! I can't wait to see the top 32, the "almost submitted", the gag items, and the feedback items, as well as the rest of the contest! Happy New Year all! :)

$%$#%^&^&*^( ^%%$&^%&!!!

errrr.. Happy New Year back to you as well my friend.

Now type something up and submit it.

If I don't make it past round-one I might still follow along with the competition and create my own entries based on the sekrit challenges. I entered because it sounded fun and I wanted the challenge to refine my game design writing, and that's not dependent on "winning" (although I wouldn't get the great professional feedback). So I'm not feeling too stressed about January, looking forward to seeing the variety of submissions, and wondering what's next. :)

If you haven't submitted something - why not go for it? It'll be fun. :)

There were a number of threads that started up in previous years for just what you are thinking. Feel free to start one up, if you don't make it. :)

Best of luck to you!

Charles , I remember meeting you at Paizocon UK and you should post an entry, mate. There are many reasons why that people have cited already, but here's my take on this.

Personally I know what you mean because I didn't enter last year and I can find of excuses for that but the bottom line was I didn't enjoy the contest as much (mine was one of the magical coins from the first year - but this time it will be different).

For me taking part is also about being part of this community. Who wouldn't want to reach the final 32? Let alone win and be published.

Then there's what Gary Gygax once wrote that the greatest DMs are those that strive to do better. This contest will make me think and I bet its the same for you. Entering will just make you better at the game and where's the harm in that?

Good Luck Everyone

Okay, tidying up loose ends after getting an item in... I'd just like to stop and say thank you to French Wolf in particular for this post.

Thanks.

You know Sean, I have always wanted to meet you because of your awesome work with FR (Mysteries of the Moonsea to be specific). Now, I just want to meet you so some of your badassness can rub off on me.

Just get a three wolf moon shirt, and you'll be set. Those things are woven from Sean's eyebrows, Chuck Norris' beard, and cotton!
