Need answer ASAP - attack of opportunity

Rules Questions

does moving INTO a threatened square provoke an attack of opportunity, or only moving out? The manual really makes it sound like that AoO only happens if they move out of a threatened square, and I'm pretty sure that moving up faster than a 5 foot step to attack provokes an AoO

We're in the middle of a game, please answer ASAP :D

Moving out of a threatened square provokes an AoO, not into one. However, moving through threatened squares (OUT of one and into another) provokes, which can be a mite confusing.

Only moving out of a threatened square provokes an AoO. Moving into a threatened square does not.

However, if you are moving to attack a creature with reach, you will be moving out of a threatened square in order to move next to that creature, and in that case you do provoke an AoO.

Thanks. I'll check this thread in a bit to see if there are any more answers, but for now we'll be doing it that way.

There is no need for it to be confusing.

The fact that you're moving out of one and into another is not what provokes. It simply provokes because you're moving out of one threatened square. Period. The rest of the sentence is irrelevent to deetermining whether you provoke an AoO or not.

Which you know, of course.

But there really is no need for this to be confusing.

That is the only way moving provokes and has been true since 3.0 rules.
