Animal Companion - Wolf and his Trip Attack

Rules Questions

Liberty's Edge

The wolf is listed as having a bite attack (I think it's 1d6 ... I don't have my books near by) plus Trip. I assume this means the wolf does both each round, right? Assuming so, in what order do these happen?

The order would seem to matter, becuase if the trip happens first, the wolf then gets a bonus to his bite since the opponent would now be prone.

Am I reading this correctly?

Thoughts? Official rulings?

Thanks!

Sovereign Court

damage fist, then trip attempt (otherwise you'll never inflict damage, because the wolf's CMB is quite low and tripping seldom works)

The trip only occurs, as a free action, when the Bite hits.

So:
1. Make Bite attack
2. If hit, make Trip attempt.
3. Else done with attacks.

Effectively the *damage* of the Bite is 1d6 + Trip, just as a spider might have 1d4 + Poison, or a Marilith 2d6 + Grab.

Sovereign Court

yes... 1d6 + STR*1.5 + trip :)
