Hand of Glory magic item question

Rules Questions

I have a question regarding the Hand of Glory item which allows you to wear ONE additional magic ring which doesn’t count against the 2 ring limit.

On p.553 of the pathfinder book it explains that adding abilities to pre-existing items tends to cost 1.5x the value of the item being added. So, for example, having a ring of protection +2 with the added powers of a ring of invisibility, it would be the ring of invisibility cost x 1.5.

Now, regarding the Hand of Glory: can you add the powers of a Hand of Glory (at a cost of 1.5x) onto an already existing Hand of Glory, effectively allowing a character to wear TWO additional magic rings? Or is this a form of stacking and it would not work?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I would tend to go with the stacking rule on that but you could make a 2nd hand of glory slotless (x2 cost).

A hand of glory is a necklace that is using its magical enchantment to allow you to use the enchantment on a ring in its slot.

Logically, if one was to place to similar enchantments onto the same item allowing it to do the same thing twice you run into a problem of the device trying to do too much at one time.

I feel that if you were to create a hand of glory that did this your best option would be that it would allow you to choose which ring was active at one time, rather then have both of them active at the same time.

If your DM allows, yes. But your DM sets the price and I wouldn't expect it to be just 1.5 times.

Items are priced by 1) Similar items, 2) Dissimilar items of similar power, and finally by 3) the chart with 1.5 cost listed.

A wise DM would reconize that the +2 rings Hand of Glory is worth much more than the 1.5 cost indicates and would likely add some huge amount to the cost if he allowed it. I wouldn't allow it at any cost.

Yea the rules handle this (Multiple Different Abilities) like with Staves and other "choose one or the other per day" items.
