Did release date for Bestiary get pushed back or something?

Product Discussion

I bought my copy of the Pathfinder Beastiary months ago from Amazon.com. I was very excited around mid-October because I knew Amazon promised to ship my book on the 15th. I checked my mail box every day in anticipation, however a few days ago, I got this email from Amazon saying something to the effect of, "Sorry, but the release date for this book has been pushed back to November 11th." I went to Amazon's website to verify this and make sure my email wasn't bogus or anything, and it's legit!!! I preordered months ago! WTF? Am I the only one that preordered that got boned on this, or did the books just get delayed for everyone?

Nag Amazon until they send it. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, at least from what I've experienced with them.

I got my copy from Paizo and already have it, so if Amazon doesn't have their copies yet, I expect they'll have them very soon. However, if you nag them, either they'll give you free faster shipping or else people in India will throw money at you in the form of discounts and rebates for future orders.

The official street date is today, so Amazon SHOULD have them and begin shipping today. (depending on how often they get shipments from diamond distributors of course)

Same thing with Amazon.co.uk
Heck they haven't even sent out the Pathfinder Core Book which was preordered many months ago....

We don't ship (or sell) directly to Amazon—we ship to the distributor they buy from. Our distributor shipments went out two weeks ago and, from there, when, how, and where the books go is out of our hands. The retail release date is today, October 21, and most of our distributors should have had enough time to get copies to most of their retailers by today.

I have no idea why Amazon is post-dating the release date.

I pre-ordered the Bestiary through barnesandnoble.com and they just did the same thing. They bumped the release date from tomorrow (10/23) to November 22nd.

They tried the same thing with the Core Rulebook pushing the release date back by a month, but I sent a complaint along the lines of "I wouldn't have pre-ordered it from b&n.com if I had known I would get it a month *after* it was shipped to stores." That worked and they sent it to me only a week or so late. I guess I'll try the same tactic again and see if I can get the Bestiary on time.

Strange that both Amazon and B&N are doing this.

Hello All,

Amazon did the same thing to me too. Stated estimated arrival date of Novemebr 13. I cancelled it.

Bought the PDF yesterday morning and the dead tree version from my FLGS on the way home from work last night.

Didn't save any money but I got the books.

Thanx!

Same thing here. I sent an email expressing my frustration, informing Amazon that this product was already released, and linked this thread. I got as a response:

"Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com.

I apologize for any misunderstanding about the delivery estimate for your order. We rely on the publisher for release date information. Our most recent information is that "Pathfinder Roleplaying Game" would be published on November 11.

It appears that this release has been delayed. We do not have any information on the updated release date at this time.

As soon as the item has been released, we'll be able to ship it to you. As per our standard policy, we do not charge you for items until they enter the shipping process, so you will not be charged for this item until it is available and we have shipped it to you.

To help make up for the delay, I've upgraded the shipping method to Standard Shipping shipping at no extra charge. The new estimate for delivery is November 17 - November 19."

Yeeeah... way to not even read my email. So... tell me more about this "subscription" thing...

Got the shipping notice for my Bestiary from Amazon today, even though it said Nov 13th yesterday. In case anyone was interested. :)

Amazon is never right about release dates, especially for RPG releases. I can't imagine anyone being naive enough to believe a word they say in this regard.

Land Phil, just for the sake of reference, I subscribe to the RPG Core books. I received my email stating it was shipping on Oct 15th. I received the book through USPS on Oct 23rd. Now consider that the book traveled from Washington to Texas. As I said this only so you have a reference of how the subscription can work.

That's across what, 3-4 shipping zones and you got it two days after release? That's not shabby at all, especially with the free .pdf offsetting shipping.
